Dear users, dear authors,
how’s your yarn doing? Has it grown?
How is your stash? Has it shrunk?
Have you ordered more?
Let me know, even though I’m pretty sure you have more yarn rather than less.

Just last week, my stash grew quite a bit—even though I don’t have time to work with it right now because of the upcoming move and renovation, and I’d planned to wait until after the move to order again...

As soon as I’ve used up my scraps to some extent and have a clear overview again, I order/buy more in bulk... Just as it should be ;-)

I’m busy sorting through my stash. Kindergarten has already started, and I still want to fill up that bag with the yarn I no longer need.
But unfortunately, every time I see a little bit of leftover yarn, I think of something else I could make with it. So my to-do list just keeps getting longer.
The upside is that I’m currently so busy working through my leftover yarn—which is actually starting to dwindle—that I haven’t even had a chance to buy any new yarn.

I’m currently away from home, so I’m visiting different stores than usual. I actually only needed red, green, and brown, BUT…
I ended up with 15 skeins again.
I use my scraps (the ones that can’t be used for anything else) as stuffing for washable little animals. It works great, and you can machine wash them at 30° to 60°.

I’ve actually gotten into the habit of buying yarn in advance because I’ve found time and again that I didn’t have enough for the project I had in mind. And when I reordered, they didn’t have the same batch anymore...
But: Whenever I start a new project, I order a little extra yarn, and I’m always left with some scraps. I use those for a new project. But there’s usually not quite enough, so I order more. Of course, just to be safe, I order a little extra again, and then…
You see, even with the best intentions, the stash just seems to grow on its own.

I treated myself once last week, but it was only three tiny little balls. I’m not even sure they count. Other than that, I’ve been very disciplined lately. It seems to me that I’m using up more than I’m buying right now.

@ruthk: Hahaha, that’s often exactly my problem when I’m trying to use up leftovers! In the end, I have more than I did at the beginning.
The best example was quite recently: I wanted to “try something out” with a leftover skein... (I like using leftovers for that so I don’t waste any Bobbels.) Afterwards, I liked it so much that I wanted to carry on. Of course, I didn’t have any more yarn... So I had to buy more... Somehow I was in a frenzy and bought 9 skeins “just to be on the safe side” (all the ones the shop had)... In case it wasn’t enough... I used 3 of them....
The upshot was: one leftover skein that I wanted to get rid of quickly turned into 6... :D

I’m exactly the same as all of you...lol
We spent a week in East Frisia, and where was our first stop?
Of course, the yarn shop in Emden. Just three skeins...that’s nothing!
And of course, I needed them to go with half a skein I already had.
Urgently, of course.
Yeees, and yesterday I was at the yarn market...that’s all I’m saying

It’s so nice that we’re all cut from the same cloth here. ;-) It’s always a joy to read your posts on my favorite topic: yarn!

I’m looking forward to tomorrow like it’s Christmas. That’s when a big package of yarn is arriving. I have three or four new projects in mind, and I ordered the yarn for them. Yeah, and I’ve been good and whittled down my stash, too. And as is always the case, once any of the storage containers or drawers start to empty out, they have to be restocked. Yeah, that’s just how it is with yarn addiction... ;-)

That’s going to be a blast, yippee!

Now I wish everyone a good night!

Monika

Since the German word “Wolle” comes from “wollen” (“to want”)—otherwise it would be called “Brauche” (“need”)—my stash isn’t getting any smaller. ;-)
There’s already a small fortune tucked away in the storage compartment under my bed. ^^

@Wollness-Designs:
You gave me a great idea: There's still room in the under-bed storage!!!

Good morning.
Hey, great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s completely empty in the storage space under my bed. Aren’t there those plastic bags where it can be packed airtight and moth-proof? Then I’d finally have room in my closet. Sorted by color—man, that would finally bring some order.
Great idea.

Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Well, I’ll join right in. I have a plastic container like that too. And it’s just sitting there unused. I could easily store my summer cotton in it.
Great idea! Thanks for that, Wollness_Desings! :-)

And this is what my joy package looks like, which arrived this morning ... that really saves the day. And it all fits into my almost empty large yarn basket. (Yes, I’ve been diligently working through my stash...)

I can only say it again and again: I’m totally in love with ... yarn! And it’s nice that I’m not alone here in feeling that way. :-)

Wishing you a lovely woolly day
Monika
