December Projects, November Projects + October Projects 2023, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Craft Group

You picked up on a lovely idea and executed it wonderfully, Petra. 👍

Here are the projects I’ve worked on over the last two days:

a little elf by a-mano

and the autumn-themed coasters from a-mano

—though I’m going to “repurpose” them a bit…😉

Best wishes, and have a wonderful Sunday.

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 3.

Yes, dear Ina, it was really worth it. I’ve decided that I’d like to have some crocheted curtains of my own for a change (and not just always make them for others). The filet yarn came at just the right time. The Bobbele yarn will probably become a shawl for me.
How nice that I’d accumulated so much swap yarn.😉

I think Monika will find something she likes, too, and Ina will be amazed as well. 😊

My knitting project is already ready.

Have a cozy Sunday, everyone.☕🍰

Warm regards
Marlies

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 3.

I couldn’t agree more with Monika, Petra. You just have to be part of it to understand. You’re happy when you’ve swapped something great, but you’re just as happy for the others and amazed at the beautiful things that come out of it.
“Yarn Swap Package” = highly recommended 👍🏼

Our dear Ina had a fantastic idea! 🌺🌺

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 3.

Yes, Monika, that was pretty funny. It was a new delivery person.
You definitely have something to look forward to. There are still so many beautiful things inside. I was undecided about a few of them, but you do need to have enough swap yarn (even though I’d set aside quite a bit).

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 3.

Hooray, it’s here… and already gone again. Monika has something to look forward to.

Delivery person: “Careful, this is heavy.”
Me: “It’s ten kg of yarn.”
Delivery person: “Oh, but for that, it’s actually light.”

So I managed to get the heavy-yet-light package into the living room. Well, and then I felt like a safecracker. Once I’d worked my way through the duct tape, the yarn just popped right out at me.
Then it began: “stays here” on one armchair, “not sure yet” on the second armchair, “no” on the sofa.
“Stays here” and “not sure yet” switched places a few times.

This is what I ended up with in the end.

Everything back into the big bag, my swap yarn added, and the package sealed.

Since it was reasonably dry, I put the package on my walker and off to the post office I went. Tomorrow it’ll set off from there on its journey to Monika.

I’m so happy with my haul and want to say THANK YOU to all the “previous owners.” Best regards

Marlies

Time change this weekend / Have a great weekend, everyone.

This is something I’ve been waiting for for a long time! This time change hasn’t done anyone—neither people nor animals—any favors. The energy-saving aspect was also a total flop. Now, it seems no one is brave enough to put an end to this nonsense.

Wishing everyone a relaxing weekend—make the most of it.

Stockinette stitch: Advantages?

However, you shouldn’t knit too loosely or unevenly, or else it will end up full of holes.

Stockinette stitch is a great base for knitting in patterns or embroidering them on later.

December Projects, November Projects + October Projects 2023, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Craft Group

Andrea, is there a pattern for those cute little boots?

Thank you, Claudia. The pumpkin would go well with mine. Will there be a pattern for it?

Christina, your sheep are so cute. Unfortunately, I’m too clumsy to knit them.

My “Wonder World” blanket by Sonja is finally finished. I made it a little bigger.

It’s so soft and cozy.

My Christmas diamond painting arrived today, but it needs to be flattened first.
My Halloween ghosts still need to be put together.

And the swap package is coming in the next few days. So, I’m definitely not bored right now.

Wishing you all a wonderful day and lots of fun with your crafts.
Best regards

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 2.

Your yarn would have stayed with me too, Susanne. Have lots of fun with it.

It looks just like the last package: lots of tape and some cardboard 😂😂

Let’s see what my grumpy temporary package delivery person has to say. Today there was an envelope in the mailbox with “Please do not bend!” written on it—neatly folded right down the middle... and when the big package arrives, oh dear.

I’ll see how I can spruce up the package. I’m sure I’ll find something.

Excited regards
Marlies

Hardworking little helpers: do you have enough current projects?

I’m working on Sonja’s “Wunderwelt” blanket right now. With a little perseverance, I’ll finish it today. Then there are still a few little projects I’ve started lying around. Ideas for my big box full of “Venia” are already swirling around in my head. I need to sort them out and put them down on paper so I can get started.

Thank you so much, Petra. I’d bought the yarn on a hunch because I liked the colors. It was just a 100-gram skein for two euros. (LL 390m/100g)
Since the scarf is just under 15 cm wide and 130 cm long, I can easily tuck the ends into the neckline of V-neck sweaters without it bulging out too much. Despite the glittery thread, it’s nice and soft and not itchy.

Thanks, Steffi. This pattern is something you can knit on the side. I really like pearl and box stitch patterns.

Nice green. The pattern already looks tricky. I’d probably get frustrated with it 😱

A few weeks ago, I showed you a ball of colorful glitter yarn. My “in-between project” is now finished. It turned out to be a thin scarf.

The promised photo of my short curtain is finally here, too.

I’ve used four patterns by Sonja here.

Thank you so much, dear Ruth, for the detailed explanation. I was familiar with 8 and 4 strands, but not with the calculation formula.

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 2.

Well, that was quick—and then it was even delivered right to the dining room. What great service!

I felt like I was sitting in Robine’s room, watching her unpack it. It was really exciting. Have we ever had such a first-hand account before?

Did you find what you were looking for according to your plan, or did you just end up picking out the yarns you liked, Robine? Most of the time, I pick out the yarn first and then figure out what to make with it.
You’ve chosen some really beautiful finds. The purple one and the yarn cake would have made it into my collection, too.

Houseboats in the garden...not everyone has that. That must have been quite a sight. I’m so glad you were spared, Steffi.

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone.

Stormy greetings from the north.

Poll: Do you print out patterns or follow them on screen while crafting?

I print most of them out. If it’s not too long, I copy it into a notebook.
With the printed versions, I only include what’s needed for the project and skip all the extra pages (to save paper and printer ink). That way, you can save a lot of pages on many patterns.

Show in Berlin

@ Veronika: My reply referred to this sentence from Andrea
You can’t really capture all the many impressions the way they are in real life.

I didn’t want to speak badly of anything, but simply to confirm Andrea’s sentence.

It’s rare that you manage to capture such wonderful impressions and experiences in photos in a way that comes across just as you experienced it yourself.

Show in Berlin

That must have been an unforgettable experience, Andrea.
Photos don’t really capture the atmosphere—unfortunately, that’s just how it is—but you keep the memories and can share them with others.
Still, the beautiful photos do give a little glimpse of it—thanks for sharing them.

Bastelfan’s Birthday / 2023 / Free Patterns as a Gift

Dear Andrea,

warmest congratulations on your special day. I hope all your dreams come true and that you have a huge dose of good health so you can enjoy it all.

That was surely an unforgettable birthday for the two of you. You both look great—but not like you’re 60 and 80. I would have guessed you were both much younger.

Keep enjoying yourselves.
Warm regards

What are you working on this week / in October?

You’ve all been so hard at work and have made some great fall decorations. Really beautiful!

I’ve finished my “in-between” scarf—I just need to take a photo of it. It’s made from one ball of thin glitter yarn that I bought on a whim a few weeks ago.

My big project is Sonja’s “Wunderwelt” blanket. However, mine is turning out a bit bigger.

Wishing you a cozy woolly bath, Steffi. I hope you find some great treasures, too.

My package delivery person is happy, too: she’s on vacation.

What a gorgeous yellow, Susanne—it really catches your eye 😉😉 You’ve picked out some lovely yarn.
Yeah, making that decision is always a bit of a challenge—I think we all have that problem, and sometimes letting go of our own yarn is tough, too.
The weather isn’t ideal for shipping boxes right now. I hope it’s dry when it arrives at my place, because here I have to use my walker to get to the post office.

I hope you have lots of fun with your new yarn. Do you already know what you’re going to make with it?

Best regards

Apple tree blooming in October

I’d already found primroses in December, but apple blossoms in October… nature is totally out of whack somehow. You’re still walking around in cardigans and sitting comfortably outside, while here in the north I dug out my warm scarf today. It was already blowing pretty chilly around the corners.

Have a wonderful October weekend: Are you enjoying some golden autumn days?

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Near the North Sea coast, the rain is setting in. We had showers yesterday, and today it’s raining almost nonstop.
I think I’ll fire up my tea light heater (I don’t want to turn on the heating just yet). Later, I’ll have some coffee with gingerbread. Listening to music, watching TV, and lots of knitting.
It’s not supposed to get any better tomorrow either, so it’s knitting weather.

Best wishes
Marlies

Oh Petra, a sloth picture. How lovely! I love sloths.🥰

The washcloth looks great.

I like the jacket, Claudia. The length is perfect for a dress.

Those city planners are crazy! Now four stores in our town center are being torn down and rebuilt 🙄
Now I’ll probably have to travel halfway around the world (by train to Stade and then by bus from there) just to find the right curtain rods for my curtains. Whatever’s left here is too short.
I’m curious to see how they plan to finish the new building by early December. That’s when sales are supposed to start up again.

A visit to the world’s largest pumpkin exhibition

Thank you so much for the beautiful photos, dear Petra! Yes, it’s amazing just how many varieties of pumpkin there are and all the things people build and craft with them.

I’m going to make some pumpkin soup and then can a few jars. I love pumpkin bread. I think you can put just about anything on it. Unfortunately, my oven is broken, and a new one isn’t in sight.

Crocheting Pants

I imagine wearing crocheted pants would be very difficult.

As a young girl, I had a dress I’d crocheted myself. It got baggy and stretched out (despite the petticoat). That would definitely be even worse with pants.
It might work if you sewed a good lining underneath.

I’m definitely past the age of wearing something like that. And as for my figure—let’s not even go there 😉

Horrible discovery in the flower bed

Sure, a bird can sometimes escape. But when I hear, “Of course we got rid of our birds when the little one was born,” it makes my hair stand on end.
This little creature was already completely dried out.
I also think it’s awful when my neighbor praises her cat for killing squirrels and little bunnies.

Steffi, I’m already curious to see what you’ll make with those beautiful gears. I could also imagine them as a wall hanging.

What are you going to do with the keys, Petra?

Yesterday I picked up my yarn package from the post office. I now have all the yarn I need and am still deciding whether to make a sweater or a jacket.

My short curtain is finished for now, but of course the rod I had planned doesn’t match it. So I’ll get a suitable one next week.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
