Martina, I’m happy for you too that the big wool package has arrived at your place.

Before you send it on, would you mind showing us which treasures you’re keeping for yourself? We’re all really looking forward to seeing your photo.

Best regards

Hello to the dear swap group

It’s wonderful that the package gets to travel through our country. From south to north and from west to east.
I’m really looking forward to discovering the surprise package. I love surprises :)

Until then, I wish everyone many wonderful and exciting moments and a successful week.

Warm regards,
Robine

Yesss, we all love photos. We want to see what’s been discovered, where our own yarn has ended up, and what we might have missed.

Dear Martina, we hope you enjoy picking out your yarn and look forward to seeing your photo.

Dear Robine, I’m happy to echo your charming wish. Have a wonderful week, everyone. We’ll catch up here again soon.

Best regards, Ina

It’s so quiet here....

Dear Martina,

The anticipation of seeing your treasures is growing—it feels just like Christmas right before the presents are unwrapped.

We all love to catch a quick glimpse after the yarn package arrives—not inside the package, of course, but at the treasures that have found a new home.

Would you like to share with us or drop us a quick note? You can also get technical help here if you ever need it, for example with uploading photos. We’d all be very happy to hear from you.

Best regards
Monika

It’s really pretty quiet here in the swap group....
And yet I’m already soooo excited to see how things “continue.”

For now, I hope you all have a wonderful day.

sanniischm would be the next stop, if I’ve read this correctly. So far, the package has been traveling pretty quickly... It would be great if sanniischm could let us know here once she receives it.

I did a little research—here is the order:

maria-zielassny
Bogenraus
Katharinas-Handarbeiten
Leoniera

Bastelfan
matap
sanniischm
Woll-zauberei-Steffi
Robine
Grinseline53
dievomdeich
mowi19
Schnuckelina

On September 28, the package was with Bastelfan (Andrea). It moved on from there on October 3.

On October 8, matap (Martina) wrote that she had the package. It had already been on the way to her for quite a long time. So it should have moved on again on October 10. Theoretically, if the postal service is quick for once, it could even arrive at sannischm today.

That way we all have an up-to-date status of the list and know how things are going with the package.

Good evening, everyone,
Martina sent the package via DHL on Tuesday. According to the tracking information, it won’t arrive at sanniisch’s place until Saturday. Sometimes the mail just takes a little longer.

I also asked Martina for a photo of the treasures she found for this thread.

I wish everyone a wonderful evening.

Best regards, Ina

Good evening, fellow enthusiasts.
Dear Ina, a heartfelt thank you for your efforts—including tracking the package. At least now I don’t have to worry every day—as I’ve been doing since today—that I might have missed the package. I’ve just experienced firsthand that a package containing the knitting machine I purchased actually took over 10 days to arrive within Germany.
Wishing you all a good night and good health.
Of course, I’ll let you know right away once the package arrives, and I’ll definitely share a photo of the skeins I picked out.
Best wishes, Susanne

Thank you so much, everyone.
Yes, I’m really looking forward to Saturday, too.

Dear Ina, if the Saturday delivery date changes, would you please be so kind as to let me know?
It’s actually quite difficult for me to haul the package about 2 km on foot with a walker.
Thank you very much.
You already have my email address.
Wishing you all a wonderful Friday.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been following this closely, and thank you for keeping us updated on where the package is. It’s been pretty quiet around here.

I’ve already had a chance to “take a dip in the wool,” but I’m still curious—it’s natural to wonder where all these treasures are headed.

Today is Friday the 13th, after all. May luck be with you.🍀☘🐞🍄

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone
warm regards from me

Dear Susanne,

I hope you have lots of fun today giving the wool a bath and choosing some yarn.
I’m curious to see what treasures you’ll find.

I’ve used the last few weeks (when I couldn’t really walk properly) to tidy up and finish some older projects.

And I hope I’ll be able to start a new project with the swap yarn in the next few days…

With small children and all the animals we have, I don’t get to do as much crafting as I’d like…😏😊

Yes, small children and pets can get in the way—I’ve been through that. Unfortunately.

Soooo, I was completely swamped with yarn yesterday, which is why I didn’t get a chance to check in🫠🤣

No, the decision was and still is really hard for me.
Not just choosing the skeins I’m taking, but also deciding what from my own stash will go into the box now.
I could easily send out a second package.

Since I couldn’t find a replacement box, I’ll have to tape up the one I received really well, but only once everything has been properly calculated. It arrived here already almost soaked through.
It’ll go out on Tuesday, when I’ll have a car available.

I wish you all a wonderful Sunday.
Best wishes

What a gorgeous yellow, Susanne—it really catches your eye 😉😉 You’ve picked out some lovely yarn.
Yeah, making that decision is always a bit of a challenge—I think we all have that problem, and sometimes letting go of our own yarn is tough, too.
The weather isn’t ideal for shipping boxes right now. I hope it’s dry when it arrives at my place, because here I have to use my walker to get to the post office.

I hope you have lots of fun with your new yarn. Do you already know what you’re going to make with it?

Best regards
Marlies

Thank you, dear Marlies.
I would have had to use a walker too, as I just found out, and in this lousy weather.
No, I’ll have it picked up tomorrow.
Overall, it wasn’t easy, but it was fun.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Thanks, Monika.
I was mainly looking to find colors different from my own.
No, what I’ll make with it will just come to me spontaneously.
But I’m already sure I’ll have a great time.
I’m most excited about the gradient yarn, because where I live, I can only find thicker ones.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Dear Susanne,

It’s great that you’ve emerged from the yarn box again. It was definitely warm and cozy in there.

I really like the treasures you picked out. My favorite would be the colorful yarn on the right in the picture, in the soft colors. It looks sooo beautiful—a yarn you just want to stroke :-)
The yellow yarn is nice and thin, which isn’t something you see very often—and it shines such a lovely yellow. A great choice!

Best wishes, and have a wonderful Sunday, everyone—Ina

Hey, Susanne, some really lovely yarn treasures have “landed” with you. I would have liked that unicorn yarn, too. It looks like cotton candy, and that Alize yarn—those would have been my treasures.

Have fun working with them.
By the way, the yellow yarn is from me; I had too much of it to use up.

Now, on to a new week!

Dear Andrea, yes, they’re really great. I used to have something similar from Alize and was sad that I never found it again. I was also immediately drawn to the unicorn yarn, and your yellow one is absolutely gorgeous. It’ll probably find its way into my first machine-knitted piece.
Wishing you a peaceful evening.

I would have snagged those two gradient skeins myself.

A wool bath, please....

I hope you have a wonderful time digging in, marveling at it all, and choosing which items want to be adopted. My anticipation is growing too, because it won’t be too long before I get to marvel at it myself.

Warm regards to everyone from Monika

Wishing you a cozy woolly bath, Steffi. I hope you find some great treasures, too.

and dear Steffi, just be careful that all the foam doesn’t overflow when you unpack the wool bath :)

From the bottom of my heart, I hope you have lots of fun discovering and choosing, and now I’m setting my clock and waiting for the package with great excitement. Oh boy, oh boy, I’m as excited as can be...

Have a lovely and relaxing evening, everyone, and see you soon.

I’m done messing around for now 😁
That was a tough decision, and I ended up wanting to include more yarn in the package than I’d originally picked out....
Right now, the box is barely closing—it took a lot of coaxing. I’ll repack it tomorrow, add a vacuum-sealed bag, and then weigh it again.
Here’s what I’ve gathered....

I’d love to dye this cotton 😉—it’s so beautifully soft....

I’m going to make a loop scarf out of the Eco Puno, in a pretty Fair Isle pattern....
I think I’ll drop the package off at the post office on Thursday—tomorrow might be a bit tight...

I actually “already” have everything I’d need for this at home/in my hobby room.... So far, I’ve never really dared to try it. But it can’t really be that difficult. I “just” have to give it a try—though dyeing wool is a whole different story from dyeing cotton. I’ll just have to read up on it; that’s what the internet is for...

Actually, once Ina has had a look through it, the package could head back out on its journey right away, and everyone would have a pretty “mysterious” wool treasure waiting for them....
I also find it totally exciting to see what others find in their treasure....
Now I’m going to “ask” my printer if it feels like printing the shipping label on the spot—it sometimes needs a little persuasion...

Dear Steffi, I’d say the wait was worth it. Some really beautiful yarn has come to live with you. I especially like the white one because it’s soft and the strand is uneven. That’s sure to create a lovely look when worked up.

I googled the Ecopuno right away, too. It also has a very nice, fluffy look and could work really well for a loop scarf. We’ll see. Good yarn does need to sit for a while so our imagination can unfold.

Thank you so much for posting such beautiful, large photos of your new treasures - that way we could see everything clearly.

Dear Robine ... we hope you have lots of fun with the yarn package.

Hello there, my dear yarn and thread friends

What a wonderful Saturday morning.

This morning, our mail carrier left the package in my dining room and said goodbye with a smile.

Still in my pajamas, I first made myself a cup of coffee and then took a look at the package. Huge!!

Then I carefully opened it… Joy and… even more joy. How on earth am I supposed to choose?
So many beautiful things!
So I sat down, drank my coffee, and dove back into the yarn bath in a more organized way *lol. With my project list, I checked every ball of yarn—and I’m sure you know how it is—with every yarn, new ideas popped into my head. With this color I could… with this yarn weight I could… with this yarn I’ll make that. But as they say, too much choice can be overwhelming, and to escape that agony, I had to get the project list out again. One more cup of coffee, and then I picked out some great things. Here’s the picture…
I’d like to thank everyone who put together this wonderful package. My thoughts on it: how lovely it is to bring joy to others and receive joy yourself!

Now the package is already on its way again, heading north to Susanne. I also packed in a few lovely things, and I hope Susanne can enjoy the yarn bath just as much as I did.

Thanks again to everyone, and have a lovely autumn weekend.
Yours,
Robine

You’ve picked out some beautiful yarn....
And the post was so fast again—I checked the shipping status yesterday and it said expected Monday.... That really makes for a very successful Saturday morning.
Good thing I was at the post office on Thursday at noon. Schleswig has been underwater since Friday; the storm surge hit hard here, over 2.10 m above normal.... Pure chaos...
An acquaintance has two houseboats in her garden, one with its dock....
Everything is fine here, the water is far away, and there wasn’t any storm damage either. We got lucky....

Oh Robine, you told that story sooo well—it was like an exciting adventure. It was almost like we were right there with you, watching you dive right into the yarn package and, above all, seeing how happy you were. Yes, that’s true—spreading joy is incredibly fun. I completely agree with you. It’s one of my favorite things to do, too. ;-)

You’ve picked out some lovely things, as far as I can tell. The pictures are showing up very small on my end. The main thing is that you like them and you already have an idea of what you’ll make with them. You’ll definitely show us, won’t you?

Steffi, that’s great that everything stayed dry where you are. We have relatives up near Kiel. Luckily, they were spared too. It was really intense this time.

Well, I wish you all a wonderful weekend, and I’m already excited to see what happens next. My anticipation is building too, because it won’t be long before that huge box of yarn arrives at my place. What a feeling!! I can almost feel it already...

Warm regards
Monika

Well, that was quick—and then it was even delivered right to the dining room. What great service!

I felt like I was sitting in Robine’s room, watching her unpack it. It was really exciting. Have we ever had such a first-hand account before?

Did you find what you were looking for according to your plan, or did you just end up picking out the yarns you liked, Robine? Most of the time, I pick out the yarn first and then figure out what to make with it.
You’ve chosen some really beautiful finds. The purple one and the yarn cake would have made it into my collection, too.

Houseboats in the garden...not everyone has that. That must have been quite a sight. I’m so glad you were spared, Steffi.

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone.

Stormy greetings from the north.

Good evening, Robine,

I completely agree with the previous posters. As we all witnessed in our “mind’s eye,” you enjoyed your “wool bath” to the fullest, and we were right there with you in spirit.
It’s so lovely to see how each person delights in their treasures.
Feel—Marvel—Swap. That’s the whole point of this swap, thanks to Ina, who started it all.😉👍

You’ve picked out such pretty yarn, and yes, it’s really hard to choose with so much yarn all in one place.
By the way, the yarns in the top left corner are mine, and they’ve now found a new home with you, waiting to be turned into something beautiful.
Have fun with them.

Good to know, Steffi, that everything’s okay with you.

Have a pleasant week, everyone.

Unfortunately, my vacation is now over.

Best wishes, Andrea👩

Who makes the yarn from onion? Nettle sock yarn...
I have it on my needles right now and it’s a pleasure to knit with....

Steffi, the yarn is from me. It just wasn’t my color. I’m glad it found a new home with you.

Robine, you’ve found some wonderful treasures, too.
The flooding has been on my mind, too. We weren’t affected here, though. The North Sea wasn’t at risk this time. But if we’d gone to Denmark in October like we usually do... Well, our last vacation home was apparently pretty much underwater. Really intense. You don’t expect that from the Baltic Sea. Sometimes it’s good the way things are.
Best regards, Marita

Dear Robine,
thank you so much for taking us into your living room this Saturday morning. We all saw you in your pajamas with your coffee mug and that tingling sense of anticipation. It almost felt like we were right there with you.

And we all know what you mean when every skein of yarn speaks to you and pushes its way into your thoughts about what it could become. Each one wants to be admired and chosen. Your imagination takes off, and you can forget everything around you and immerse yourself completely in the world of yarn.

In the end, some yarns turned out to be more compelling than others and were allowed to come home with you. They’re sure to become something very special. And this new piece will always be linked to the joy of that thrilling yarn bath. Shopping in a store just doesn’t create that magic.

Thank you so much for sharing your joy with us so vividly.

Warm regards, Ina

I already knitted up to the thumb increase yesterday. The yarn is just flying off the needles 😁

Vacation, Denmark.... so I’m going to assume it was “vacation yarn” 🤔☺️

Ina.... you wrote that so beautifully.

Yes, I felt like I was right there in Robine’s living room, too...

Dear Steffi,

I really love the green—I’m a huge fan of green. And if the yarn is soft too, that’s great. That would be right up my alley. Can you tell me again exactly what it’s called? It seems like “Onion” is just the manufacturer that produces different qualities. Are you going to make wrist warmers with it?

Best regards, Ina

The yarn is a “sock yarn made from natural fibers”—
70% wool and 30% nettle fibers....
It’s called Nettel Sock Yarn.

I’m actually knitting wrist warmers. I always wear them when I’m out in the woods with the dog, instead of gloves. I can’t grip the leash as well when I’m wearing gloves. …and sometimes I need to let my little one (a St. Bernard mix) know that I meant my command seriously and she can’t just “run wild” just because she thinks it’s fun at the moment… that’s when wrist warmers come in really handy; my last pair turned out a bit too big for me… So this yarn came at just the right time.

Thank you so much, Steffi. The green wrist warmers will even match the forest. It’s nice when you already have such a clear picture of what you’re knitting for. Of course, your dog won’t care whether you wear wrist warmers—or which ones you wear—as long as they keep you comfortable and you take her out often. So keep knitting away. Oh, that green… it’s got something special :-)

Hi Steffi, no, it was a gift. Unfortunately, it’s not my color at all. Sounds silly when it comes to socks, but…
On top of that, I can hardly wear socks at all since chemo, let alone wool socks. They’re too warm and just unbearable on my feet. When it’s really cold, I still have plenty. I also have plenty of yarn. So I’m really happy when I see here that something beautiful is being made from it.
I can only confirm the thing about wrist warmers and the dog. I knitted myself these market-woman gloves. They’re great, too. You can even use them to fish out a treat. And when it gets really cold, just flip the flaps over.
And I’ve already given away a lot of them. They’re always a hit.

Wow, I’m so excited :)
Thanks to Ina’s message, I can enjoy the anticipation—since I travel to Hamburg three times a week to take care of my parents, I hadn’t heard anything about this here.

A wool bath—what a dream :))) I’ll share updates and take photos.

Warm regards
Susanne

Hi everyone :)
Whoever wrote the script for today’s chapter of my life gets a solid A :)

So.... normally I don’t do much in the morning, but today: vacuuming, mopping.
And today the mail carrier arrived THREE hours earlier than usual.
I was thrilled to receive this big package and made a big deal out of unpacking it.
In the end, I took out the following items, which I’ll upload in my next post.
For some reason, the photos just won’t fit between the text right now.

I’ve never had lace yarn before, so now I can give it a try.
And cotton yarn in two matching colors is always a good thing.
Thank you so much!

I repacked the package and then—duct tape :) And it held. I put the package in a big bag and rode my bike to the post office. What I hadn’t realized yet: that the post office is only open until 1 p.m. Luckily for me, the employee was in a good mood ;) and just commented on all the packing tape. Um…
The weather was also fantastic—a beautiful, sunny fall day.

The package is now on its way to Marlies in Stade. If you’d like me to share the tracking number, just let me know.

Thank you so much for the experience; keep having fun, and best regards
Susanne

Wow, dear Susanne,
you really pulled that off nicely—everything matches perfectly.
Not bad at all.
I don’t know what the postal clerk’s problem is—it’s turned out to be a very pretty package.🫠.
You found some lovely yarn; I would have liked that, too.
Have fun with it.
Best wishes, Susanne (sannii)

....I agree... The package turned out really pretty; maybe Marlies could draw a few more little flowers on it.... 😁
The “post office” has trouble processing the package automatically if there’s too much tape around it; the scanner can’t read the code because the tape “glares,” but hey, maybe they’ll handle it a little more carefully then 🤷

So you had a “perfect” day 😄
Your new treasures are beautiful. The lace yarn is from Shoppel, right? What color is that? I really like it...
Do you already have an idea for the cotton? The colors go really well together.
Now I’m curious to see what arrives at Marlies’ place in the next few days....
Have a lovely afternoon/evening, everyone...

Your yarn would have stayed with me too, Susanne. Have lots of fun with it.

It looks just like the last package: lots of tape and some cardboard 😂😂

Let’s see what my grumpy temporary package delivery person has to say. Today there was an envelope in the mailbox with “Please do not bend!” written on it—neatly folded right down the middle... and when the big package arrives, oh dear.

I’ll see how I can spruce up the package. I’m sure I’ll find something.

Excited regards
Marlies

Susanne, those are such great colors.
They’re so beautiful—they could have stayed here.
Whatever’s going on at the post office 🤷

Oh Susanne, that was quick again. I could really share in your excitement and I’m happy for you. I have to say, the package is already looking very “special.” Unfortunately, I don’t have that kind of heavy-duty tape, so I hope it stays together on its way from me to Ina.

I’m starting to feel like it’s right before Christmas, with the last few doors on the Advent calendar. The excitement is building… and so is the anticipation.

I’ll probably be able to look forward to it as early as next week. I’m soooo curious to see what wonderful treasures are waiting for me.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Warm regards
Monika

Our yarn swap package looks really fun. You’ve picked out some lovely yarns. I would have “adopted” that Hobbii yarn, too. Gorgeous colors.
Do you already know what you’re going to make with it?

My swap yarn is still here because I want to use up my “birthday yarn” first.
I don’t have a specific plan yet.

Have a wonderful evening, everyone, with your swap yarn 🙂🧶

Susanne, let’s see if regular packing tape holds up. I hope so, because I don’t think I have a box that big on hand. In any case, I’m already really excited and looking forward to it.

Thanks to all of you :*
Well.... I also have the pink duct tape; maybe that would have been better for mailing :))) Anyway, it’s holding up, and the package will definitely make it through the next stops.
I already have the cotton yarn in lots of colors anyway—these are perfect for pot holders. Quick and pretty to make.
The lace yarn is color 2179—red cabbage is still red cabbage :)
I’ll have to browse the internet when I have time to see what I can make with it. Or maybe another shawl—I have plenty of patterns.
Warm regards from Schneverdingen

What a lovely selection, dear Susanne! The cotton yarns are enchanting with their colors, and the lace yarn might just spark a new passion for you: lace knitting. It involves few stitches and lots of open space around them. When it’s stretched out, the finished piece looks absolutely wonderful.

I hope you enjoy your new yarns and wish you and your parents all the best. It’s very commendable that you’re taking care of them.

Warm regards, Ina

Hello everyone,

Great choice, Susanne. All the skeins are from me :) I bought the cotton yarn from Hobbii for my Easter amigurumi, and the lace yarn is absolutely gorgeous. It’s from Berlin, from Wollhandel-Berlin. It’s a great shop—you can find it online, too. The Blaukraut is made of 100% virgin wool and
merino wool from Patagonia (medium, superwash), and of course, it’s mulesing-free.
If you have any questions about it, the address, or anything else, just ask.
In any case, I’m happy that the yarn has found a lovely new home.
Have lots of fun with it.

And I also hope the next recipient enjoys the huge package—which is now turning into more of a duct tape package :)

I’m currently turning the Pro Lana yarn into a new favorite sweater for my husband. He loves the chocolate brown and asked for it right away when the yarn arrived.
He’s just such a “sweetie” *lol

Have a great few days—the weather is perfect for curling up in a cozy corner: the fireplace crackling, tea lights lit, fragrant tea, soft music in the background, and the clatter of knitting needles. What could be better!!!

Warm regards to you all
Yours, Robine

Dear Robine,

It must be very cozy where you are right now. For all of us, at any rate, it’s an inspiration to follow your example.
You’re happy that your beautiful yarn has found a new home, and I’m happy that your husband liked my chocolate-brown Pro Lana yarn. It’s a lovely brown, that’s true, and soft to the touch, too. I can imagine it looking really nice with a pattern. Did your husband have any specific requests, or do you have free rein with his sweater?

Thanks so much also for the tip about Wollhandel Berlin. They really do have some beautiful items :-)

Best regards, Ina

Hi, my dear Ina

I’m so glad you discovered some lovely things in Berlin. I especially like the unusual colors (and the corresponding color names… Blaukraut, Lange Bank, etc.). You’ll love this wonderful yarn. I’ve made some beautiful shawls from this yarn (which I’ve been working with for quite some time).  They’re totally cozy and really nice and warm. A dream.

And as for your brown chocolate-colored yarn… Dirk likes it simple and understated. So stockinette stitch with raglan sleeves. I’ll just say that with this simple knitting technique—knit across and purl back—particularly precise knitting is essential. So it’s always a challenge to make sure the finished piece looks chic and elegant.
And yes, you’re right—this yarn has a gorgeous color; it’s super soft and will definitely be very comfortable to wear. I’ll let you know when the sweater is finished.
Thanks again for including it in the package so I could dig it out.

Best regards
Robine

Thank you so much :)
I’ve crocheted shawls from bobbles many times before, though always with a cotton blend.
So I’ll look through the patterns and then pick the prettiest one for this.
Rainy greetings (it’s nice that the houses are hollow :) )
Susanne
