Wishes for 2024 / how are you doing right now?

Things are slowly getting better again. I can already do short crafting sessions without my hands going numb or swelling up. I’ve been struggling with a nasty, itchy rash for two months. You probably know how long the wait times are for a doctor’s appointment. An “emergency appointment” then revealed that it’s an allergic reaction (no idea where it came from or what caused it). Now I have to take four (!) allergy pills every day to keep it from flaring up again.
I’m trying to get an appointment as soon as possible to figure out where it came from. It wasn’t possible because of all the holidays.

Some prankster canceled my internet service. It wasn’t exactly easy to convince people that I wasn’t the one who did it. I guess these are just “little niceties” because someone can’t accept the breakup...

Well, things can only get better from here, at least I hope so.
I’d like to finally get back to my crafts. I had so many projects started and planned.

One wish: that people finally come to their senses and peace returns.

Best regards
Marlies

dievomdeich’s Birthday / 2024 / Free Patterns as a Gift

Dear friends,

Thank you all so much for your kind wishes!

Since yesterday evening, I’ve been connected to the “net” again. That’s a lovely birthday surprise.
Otherwise, it’s a very quiet day that I’m spending on my own. The weather is really bad, so I’m putting my feet up and reading a new book.

Warm regards to all of you, and best wishes for the New Year.

Hi...

Gosh, Inge, you really do go through some things... At least it wasn’t a heart attack—that’s a good start. The doctors will surely figure out soon what’s wrong with your heart and help you.
I wish you a speedy recovery and strength during this waiting period. I’m sure you’ll be back home soon, letting your husband spoil you.
Best wishes
Marlies

Inserting the hook into the front or back loop

You can also create patterns using the front loop and the back loop, for example, my pumpkins.

What are you cooking today? Part 3.

Today we had pork-mince sandwiches and homemade mustard pickles. Over the next few days, I’m going to cook some kale. I brought some smoked pork loin and cabbage sausage home today.

It’s finally the weekend: how’s the weather where you are?

Wow, it was cold this morning.🥶 It froze for the first time, and everything was white. I took the longer route to get the newspaper. The air was crisp and cold—it was wonderful.

It’s finally the weekend: how’s the weather where you are?

A cold fall day with bright sunshine and a crisp breeze tempted me to hang the laundry outside to dry today. Now that the household chores are taken care of, it’s back to the crochet hook—the first Sunday of Advent is approaching, and I need to finish the window decoration.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and warm fall sunshine.

Best regards
Marlies

Busy little helpers: are you hard-working in real life and with your crafts?

Claudia, I think it’s great that you’re standing up for your sisters like this. I wish you lots of strength for it, and hope you have a wonderful celebration.🎂

Great to have you back “for real,” Andrea.👍

If the (sun)light allows it, I’m working on my Santa’s sleigh. There are so many little dark areas to cover with adhesive.  Otherwise, I’m switching back and forth between a crocheted window decoration and a few little Christmas trinkets.

December Projects, November Projects + October Projects 2023, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Craft Group

It’s finally finished:

it even comes with a short story:
Fall is here. The golden sun still shines warmly on the colorful leaves, and some birds are cheerfully singing their songs. The cheeky little mouse looks hungrily at the big Halloween pumpkin. Soon it will get colder. But a little fawn is already thinking about the snow and Christmas. Then there will be decorated Christmas trees and burning candles in people’s homes. The forester will surely bring good food to the forest again. He cares deeply for his animals.
This is the quiet time when the stars shine brighter, little angels fly, and everyone wishes for peace on earth.

I used 850 g of cotton. The design consists entirely of patterns by Sonja (a-mano).

It was a lot of fun, but I’m also glad it’s finally finished.

The only bummer was that when I was crocheting the top row together, I’d turned the pumpkin upside down. Of course, I didn’t notice until I went to crochet the top edge.😢 So I had to rip some of it out and redo it.

Now I just need to get the right mount and then hang it up.

Best regards
Marlies

Everyone is welcome to share: What’s on your mind?

Get well soon, Michaela! I think almost all of us have gone through and survived such difficult years. You’ll get through this too, and I wish you all the strength you need.

When Flocke had to go, you were there for her, able to hold her and make her final moments easier. For us humans, it’s terrible and we almost despair, but the animal senses right up to the very end that their beloved human was there. (From personal experience)
But you’ll always have your memories of Flocke and everything you experienced together. No one can take that away from you.

With every birthday, you’ll think of your friend, and with every birthday, it’ll get a little easier because you know she doesn’t have to suffer anymore.

I hope your father-in-law doesn’t have to suffer too much and can pass away peacefully when the time comes.

Now you need to think of yourself and make a full recovery—both for your own sake and for your husband’s. He’ll need your support, too. To process so much grief, your body needs to be healthy. Don’t give up on yourself; fight for your health, and once you’re well, you can begin the grieving process.

Warm regards
Marlies

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 3.

Dear Ina,
Like the many people who posted before me, I’d like to send you another huge THANK YOU to you for your great idea and all your hard work.
I would have loved to see you when you discovered the treasure chest and then unpacked it. You received some beautiful things.

You found so much great cotton—it would have been right up my alley. I’m glad you can use the white sock yarn. It ended up being too thin for the project I had in mind. I once received the light-colored skeins from the bag as “payment.” There isn’t quite enough to make something for myself out of them. I’m glad you like them.

I hope you and everyone else have lots of fun working with the swap yarn.

Warm regards
Marlies

Totally “silly” knitting mistakes.... Do you have any too?

It would actually be a good idea for a St. Nicholas stocking. It’d hold twice as much 😁

Joking aside, that’s really annoying.

Thanks, Petra and Claudia. This is exactly how you imagine Christmas to be. It was hard to choose between all the designs.

Have fun putting the puzzle together, Petra.

Claudia, your mouse is cute, and the mushrooms go great with it.

Have a lovely evening, everyone.

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 3.

That's great, Monika, that you found quite a few things. When I saw my green and orange sock yarn, I thought of you right away. The blue Bobbele was supposed to stay here at first, too, but there wasn’t enough yarn to swap.

Yes, I can imagine that you had a look first. And now imagine that huge box on the walker…

The box should survive a few trips. The old one was beyond repair.

I’m so curious to see what else Ina will find and whether all the yarn has been swapped.

Best regards
Marlies

That’s right, Ruth. My son learned to sew buttons onto cardboard and was totally amazed that it’s completely different when you do it on fabric.
Having that basic knowledge of hand-sewing is really important.

Well, Steffi, that’s how it goes when you’ve made a mistake. You always spot it right away, but others don’t notice a thing. Just like me. All I see is that they turned out really nice, and I really like that shade of green, too.👍
