Crocheting Pants

Dear users, dear authors,
Is it possible to crochet pants—I mean, for adults to wear every day? In the shop, you mainly find crocheted children’s and doll pants. There were plenty of hippie pants with colorful granny squares back in the ’70s, and in fashion, nothing ever really goes out of style. Okay, well, maybe those aren’t exactly practical for everyday wear. Do you like crocheted pants?

Here’s a pair of crocheted pants for adults in the shop:

Sorry, Josefa, but I’m out on that one. That’s just not okay—for me, anyway. I would never run around like that, either outside or at home. But to each their own. After all, the pattern has already been sold 285 times. So there must be people out there who like it.

Best wishes, Ina

I imagine wearing crocheted pants would be very difficult.

As a young girl, I had a dress I’d crocheted myself. It got baggy and stretched out (despite the petticoat). That would definitely be even worse with pants.
It might work if you sewed a good lining underneath.

I’m definitely past the age of wearing something like that. And as for my figure—let’s not even go there 😉

I crocheted a jumpsuit—such a super comfortable piece of clothing for doing yoga or pottering around in the garden… The pants only go down to my calves, though, and I love this outfit… Crocheting a full pair of pants is definitely a goal of mine.🧶

I like this design. It’s definitely comfortable, too. For me, it’s more of a time issue—as long as I still have enough sweatpants and leggings in my closet, I probably won’t be crocheting a pair of pants for myself.

I didn’t see anywhere in the pattern that you need fabric for lining. Maybe that would actually be a good idea for the knees. But for myself, I’d prefer to wear them without the lining.

I love these pants! I always wear them under dresses. Especially when it gets chilly in the evening, they keep me nice and warm under skirts and dresses, and they look pretty. I wouldn’t wear them with a short top, though, since they’re see-through. But I don’t think it’s a big deal on the legs, and you can only see it if you’re wearing a skirt, a dress, or a long sweater over them. In the picture, for example, I’m wearing a long linen top.

Hello kreativ-mit-taeschwerk—your enthusiasm for these pants really comes through. Maybe that’s a reason for some readers to take a closer look at them and consider crocheting a pair themselves. In any case, I wish you continued success with your favorite pants. My comment above was just my personal opinion and was in no way meant to disparage your pants.

Best regards, Ina

Yeah, I wouldn’t go for a pair of crocheted pants like that either. Don’t they lose their shape quickly? And doesn’t that rub against your thighs?
But luckily, tastes vary, so everyone can find what they like best and what suits them.
