After we put on our dance group festival yesterday in Otterndorf with about 300 female dancers and one male dancer (ours... grin), and our walker dance was very well received, we’re heading to Drochtersen today. It’s dance competition weekend there. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it yesterday, but today we’ll be watching as the Latin formations whirl across the dance floor.
Starting tomorrow, things will calm down a bit again, and I’ll be able to get back to crocheting.
Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone.
Dear Monika, my birthday wishes are a bit late, but all the more heartfelt for that.
I hope you had a wonderful day surrounded by your loved ones.
For the coming year, I wish you all the best—above all, good health and lots of great ideas.
We went to a Chinese restaurant for lunch today, then drove down to the Elbe and took a lovely walk. Crisp, cold air and bright sunshine—it’s so much fun.
Since things got really hectic here again yesterday, I’m enjoying the peace and quiet today and wish you all two more wonderful days of Christmas and a peaceful, reflective time between Christmas and New Year’s.
On Thursday, just in time for the Christmas party at the nursing home, a few snowflakes danced down from the sky.
Today it’s bitterly cold and looks rather gray and dreary. I hope there won’t be any nasty surprises, because the ladies in my dance group aren’t exactly young anymore and aren’t too keen on driving in snow flurries or on icy roads.
Thank you so much! Enjoy the third Sunday of Advent with your loved ones.
I still need to go over our program one more time and polish up my hosting a bit, but I’ll probably be so nervous later that I’ll just end up rambling anyway... :-)
Wishing everyone a cozy and snug third Advent weekend. Enjoy yourselves.
Tomorrow is our dance group’s last performance of the year. Unfortunately, I’m way behind on my crochet projects. But that’s also because of my early Christmas present: the new love in my life.
I’m just enjoying the moment and letting things unfold as they will.
When it comes to crocheting, I’ve gotten hooked on filet crochet again.
I still need to finish the large swan picture twice more before Christmas, and maybe in the new year I’ll finally manage to hang some filet crochet curtains on my windows.
I made my own St. Nicholas Day gift: this morning, I surprised my dear dance friend (and surrogate mom, age 90) with a crocheted Christmas star and a few little decorations. Then we sent her daughter a photo and a voice message via WhatsApp. Seeing her eyes light up when the message is sent and the reply comes right away is such a wonderful gift.
It’s nice to know that even today, you can bring great joy to people with just a small token.
Since the coffee from the Christmas party is keeping me awake, I’m taking this opportunity to show you the gift I gave my fellow group leader. She was thrilled.
I wish everyone a wonderful St. Nicholas Day and boots full of treats.
Today I’m starting a new set of grandma and grandpa figures for the next diamond wedding anniversary in our group.
I’ve started bringing along a little personal gift whenever we deliver the group’s present to the celebrating couple.
This weekend I also need to make a pair of baby booties for a friend’s expected great-granddaughter, and I’m still torn between crocheting and knitting.
My most important September/October project is finished. Our Werner was very happy with “Grandpa Werner” and, best of all, he recognized himself right away :-)
A 70th birthday gift for our “cock of the walk.”
One September project is finished.
I baked a “cake” yesterday for a birthday. (Photo in the gallery)
It’s easier with 20-euro bills than with 5-euro bills.
We’re performing today at the summer festival celebrating the retirement home’s 50th anniversary. It’s cold,
though, and it definitely doesn’t look like the kind of weather for dancing outside...
Besides us, a Portuguese dance group is also scheduled to perform, and the shanty choir will be there, too.
We’ll see how it goes.
Have a great weekend, everyone, and have fun.
Best regards, Marlies
