I hope you all have a wonderful St. Nicholas Day!
Do you have any special traditions for St. Nicholas Day?

I wish you a lovely St. Nicholas Day too!

We always put our shoes out the day before — my older son picked out the four biggest pairs of boots — and this morning they were filled ;-)

I also wish everyone a wonderful St. Nicholas Day :)

Way back when, St. Nicholas and Knecht Ruprecht would always come to my grandma’s house—my cousins and everyone else would be there too—and he’d bring us all a little something :) (After telling us all the things we’d messed up over the year :D)
One year, St. Nicholas didn’t come, so we put our boots out the night before.
Clever as my brother and I were, one of us distracted our parents while the other put out EVERY single pair of shoes we owned :D
Unfortunately, St. Nicholas was even smarter and knew exactly how many kids lived there...

Since we don’t have any kids, we don’t really have any traditions at the moment :)

I also wish everyone a wonderful St. Nicholas Day!!!

Since my mother’s birthday is on St. Nicholas Day, we’ve always celebrated not only St. Nicholas Day but also her birthday, with cake, flowers, coffee, gifts (not just St. Nicholas goodie bags), and everything that goes with it. Traditionally, we (even us older folks) hand out a little St. Nicholas goodie bag.

Wishing everyone a wonderful St. Nicholas Day and a boot full of treats

Since it’s my son-in-law’s birthday today, my grandson announced this morning that we definitely need a birthday candle for Dad when we sing St. Nicholas songs.

I’m curious to see who’ll be celebrated more tonight—Dad or St. Nicholas

Wishing everyone a wonderful St. Nicholas Day.

I made my own St. Nicholas Day gift: this morning, I surprised my dear dance friend (and surrogate mom, age 90) with a crocheted Christmas star and a few little decorations. Then we sent her daughter a photo and a voice message via WhatsApp. Seeing her eyes light up when the message is sent and the reply comes right away is such a wonderful gift.

It’s nice to know that even today, you can bring great joy to people with just a small token.

Best regards, Marlies.

I kind of miss the days when the kids were still little and would put their boots out the night before St. Nicholas Day. Our daughter, in particular, would always dash downstairs first thing in the morning to check.... A few times, we also went to our local lake on St. Nicholas’s Eve; there, St. Nicholas would come across the water in a boat and hand out chocolate. There were also lots of fire pits and stick bread. Mulled wine for the adults and hot cocoa for the kids (and me).
Today, they both still get a St. Nicholas bag filled with treats and little gifts, but unfortunately, the magic isn’t there anymore.....

Anton is still too young for traditions. But when he saw St. Nicholas, his eyes got really wide. He was very skeptical at first, though.

Otherwise, the day was pretty normal; my husband is away on a business trip. My mother-in-law is coming over later so I can go to the gym.

I also wish you all a lovely St. Nicholas evening.
Today we treated ourselves to a visit with a friend and then went shopping for some delicious treats.
Somehow, St. Nicholas Day just slipped by without me really noticing.

When my son was still little, we lived up north. There, we’d go out together in the evening for the “St. Nicholas walk.” He’d ring doorbells and sing something for people and recite a poem. In return, he’d always get little gifts. I always thought that was really nice back then, and we both enjoyed it.

Hello, and warm wishes from me as well for St. Nicholas Day.

We don’t have a St. Nicholas tradition, but I still always try to have a little something (e.g., a pack of Dominosteine or a chocolate Santa...) for my sweetheart.

This year I baked something... Well, it turned out to be more of a Grinch than a Santa head. But it still tasted good...

Unfortunately, my wishes for a cozy St. Nicholas Day are coming a little late… I was on grandma duty, so I had to bake my “Grittibänzen” in my daughter’s kitchen. As is tradition, one goes to our neighbors; the second, larger one is a St. Nicholas and birthday greeting for a friend; and the third will be on our breakfast table tomorrow—along with a few mandarins, apples, nuts (the latter two from the garden), and the homemade Pfeffernüsse.
