I’m doing very well. I’m enjoying the fact that my husband is on vacation and we’re spending a lot of time together.

Tomorrow the more yarn for the baby blanket is supposed to arrive, so luckily it’ll be finished soon. I won’t be taking on another project this long for a while.

Later on, we’ll be heading out on a shopping spree through various cities.
With public transportation, it’s practically a day trip.

Let’s hope it isn’t too crowded.

The Christmas season was really lovely, even though I’m still struggling with my cold.
I’m currently working on my first knitted sock—I got a Crazy Trio for Christmas, and it’s working out great.
Also, Else is living with us now. (See photo.) I’d asked for a mannequin, and one of our cats kept staring at her and meowing because he wanted a treat. He still doesn’t quite understand why that woman is standing there in the hallway, ignoring him....
I hope you’re all doing well and were able to celebrate Christmas peacefully.

Oh, that’s funny. I’m also knitting my first sock on the Crazy Trio. It really works well.
However, I do remember that I knitted socks once before, almost 40 years ago...

I’m doing great, both health-wise and in every other respect. Christmas was all about doing nothing and enjoying myself. Pure coziness. And of course, I got my needles out. Now I have new leg warmers made from leftover yarn.

Wishing you all a wonderful start to the new year!

Best, Monika

It’s not great, but I’m managing. The funeral was the day before yesterday, and we skipped Christmas this year. I did eat something anyway—beef with spinach.
I’d actually planned to go up the mountain today, but it started snowing a little while ago. It’s stopped again now, but I think I’ve waited too long. But I’m still going to go out anyway.
Other than that, I’m trying to get out and socialize as much as possible.

Ida? Oh my gosh... I didn’t realize that... my deepest condolences... I can’t believe it. I’m at a loss for words right now, sorry.

We’re doing great! After the usual pre-Christmas hustle and bustle, Christmas itself was quiet and cozy. The only problem is that our printer isn’t working anymore because our daughter’s boyfriend was messing around with our network on Christmas Day! Last night we enjoyed a fantastic performance of the ballet “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” at the Zurich Opera House—another birthday present for me. For once, we don’t have any plans today—or tomorrow, either—except for some shopping, but since we’ll be alone over New Year’s, it won’t be a big shop. So we’ll have time to relax and finish up some projects we’ve started!

I tested my homemade dishwasher detergent and have been pleasantly surprised so far.

To make it, simply mix equal parts citric acid (powder), soda ash, and baking soda.

It’s important to gradually work your way up to the right amount.
I used a heaping teaspoon.

The mixture should be used at a temperature of no more than 50 °C.

That sounds interesting, CreatOwl.
I'm currently working on a solution that won't need any product anymore. But I still have to try it out first.

Best regards, Monika

First of all, thanks for welcoming me here.
Christmas is always very cozy and stress-free for us.
With lots of candles, a Christmas tree, and cozy get-togethers.
We only give gifts to the youngest ones.
Just waving a friendly hello—I’m excited to see what there is to discover here.
My knitting needles are hard at work as always, so there’s never a
dull moment ????????????????

@Strigg-Grossmann,

it’s great to have you here! We’re always happy to welcome new members. :-)
And I’m happy to wave back.

We always have a cozy Christmas, too.
On New Year’s Eve, we’ll be staying home and welcoming the new year with joy.
My knitting needles are hard at work, too. Right now I’m knitting socks for my husband, trying out a new heel technique. I’ve been mulling this over in my head for a while, and now I’m putting it into practice while knitting. It’s looking good so far.

I wish everyone here a healthy and happy 2019!

Warm regards
Monika

Thank you all so much. The strength will come back. I don’t really have any other choice anyway.
I wish you all a good start into the new year!
