A lovely fall day with sunshine and wind. Never mind. I took advantage of it and did some crocheting. A coaster using the C2C technique. I used up some leftover yarn.

Wow, I’m pretty creative myself, but even I’m learning new things from you all.
These are such great ideas.
Thanks to Ina for this idea with the gift roll box. I would never have thought of that.

A while back, I crocheted—or rather, crocheted around—a toadstool. No idea where I saw that before.
You’ll need two round cardboard beer coasters and a cardboard roll from toilet paper.
Crochet one beer coaster with green yarn (on both sides)—that’s the “base” for the mushroom. Trim the cardboard tube a bit to reduce its height, then crochet around it with white yarn (the mushroom stem). Sew this onto the “base.” Then crochet the second beer coaster with red yarn. Crochet one side normally, and crochet the other side so it’s slightly rounded and lightly stuff it with stuffing. This is the mushroom cap; embroider white dots on it. Decorate it as you like with little flowers or similar—and your lucky mushroom is done.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of it anymore, but I plan to make it again soon, and then I’ll share the promised photo with you.

Hey Josefa, I used to make a little bulletin board out of these wine corks with my kids.
Just cut the corks into thin slices and glue them onto a sturdy base. And just like that, you have a little bulletin board. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of it anymore.

I hope you all have a lovely, sunny weekend anyway. You’re all doing well—warm temperatures, and you can all still sit outside in the garden and have a barbecue.
Here, it’s chilly, with cloudy weather forecast for the whole weekend—no sun, dark and autumnal—and we’ll soon need gloves in the mornings. So it’s time to relax—crochet, tidy up, lounge on the couch, drink a cappuccino or latte macchiato, unwind, or just do nothing for a change.
This gloomy weather doesn’t really inspire you to do much.

For paper, I use this cutting ruler (plastic) that comes with a built-in cutting blade, or rather a rotary blade (you can slide it back and forth, remove it, and swap it out), and I also have two extra cutting blades for wavy cuts, straight cuts, and perforated cuts.
It works great for long, straight lines—you get a nice, straight edge, which is also perfect for photo borders.

I’m currently using these green cutting mats from PRYM, 45 × 30 cm. I mainly use them just for making my cards, so I only cut paper on them.
The scale markings are usually just printed on, which wear off quickly, but other than that, I’m happy with them.
When stringing beads, I can use it to measure my thread length, as well as the diameter of buttons or beads.
I also used to have this black cutting mat from Panduro, which had the centimeter markings further subdivided. However, it became illegible due to wear and tear, and I haven’t been able to find another mat with that specific layout yet. It’s a shame, really.

:-) Oh, Ina, that’s so nice—you made such a difference and had fun doing it.
Here in Norway, it’s a little different. I usually take the train for about 20 minutes to get to work. Every now and then I see a few people doing needlework. I’ll glance over to see what pattern they’re crocheting, take note of it, and then try to crochet it myself at home.
Here in Norway, people tend to knit a lot.
But you don’t really strike up much of a conversation. Everyone’s just staring at their phones—you’re barely even noticed. I usually bring my crossword puzzle book with me instead of my crochet supplies. Very, very rarely have I ever finished crocheting granny squares on the train, or a triangular shawl. Most of the time, the trains are so crowded that there’s only standing room, and I can’t do any handwork then. Other people crochet while standing, but that just doesn’t work for me. I always need a place to set my work down.
Right now the trains aren’t that crowded, but by the time I’ve crocheted a few rows, I have to get off again.
I did strike up a conversation with a female guest at the hotel about crocheting—though we didn’t have much time, it was nice (in Norwegian, mind you).

I think a craft forum like this is like a big family. It’s a place where we help each other with problems, share ideas, and, of course, just chat. Seeing what others are working on… there are many reasons.
For example, since I live abroad, I also use this forum to stay in touch with home and the German-speaking world—especially when I have to speak Norwegian or English all day long. I wouldn’t want to miss it—it does me a world of good.

My favorite crochet projects are often these amigurumis and crochet dolls, bag charms, but also flat pieces like triangular shawls, tablecloths, scarves, crochet bags, and crochet blankets made from granny squares or stripes with different patterns.
More small projects where I can see quick results.

I haven’t really gotten much done, but I can already check off a few things.

I also mostly crochet the smaller figures. I often order from “Hobbii” or “Rithohobby.” They also carry these mini skeins and safety eyes in packs of 10. Maybe you’ll find what you’re looking for there.
