I’m still crocheting my C2C crochet jacket, but I have to take a break now because we’re going on vacation on Friday, and I can’t take that huge ball of yarn with me.

Oh, Ina, I’m going to give your idea a try, but I have no idea how it’ll turn out. 

According to the pattern, the attachment is crocheted long to attach the legs to it, and it disappears inside the doll. Maybe I shouldn’t crochet so many chain stitches. We’ll see. Thanks for now.

I baked these cinnamon rolls for the first time today. I think the recipe is from Petra. I tried it, and it turned out great. They taste so good.

Here’s what’s left. Half of them have already been eaten. I definitely have to bake some more—then my mom can try some, too.

Wow, you’ve all been so busy again. Such great things made from old jeans, and Ina’s lavender sachets… big kudos to everyone else, too.

Christmas is still soooo far away. For now, it’s still time for summer stuff or a little fall decor (pumpkins). Otherwise, I’m continuing to crochet my crochet jacket using the C2C technique, or doing some paper crafts (cards).

I still have two of my children’s books in my collection that I treasure. My parents gave them to me back then.

And this one is from my mom—a bottle opener and corkscrew...

Yes, I baked muffins, oatmeal cookies, and quark rolls again yesterday. Absolutely delicious.

Soon I’ll try the cinnamon rolls (I think they’re from Inge) or the Apple Clouds. I’ll post pictures then, too.

Finally time to breathe a sigh of relief—everything has aired out. It’s a pleasant 17 degrees outside, and the room temperature is 24 degrees. That makes crafting and DIY fun again. It’s raining right now.

Right now I’m making cards, crocheting little things here and there, and continuing to crochet my jacket (I have this huge ball of yarn for it). The pattern is from here. I’ll have to check again which shop it was from.

Stay healthy

Yeah, this heat is really getting to you.

On Sunday there were some hellish thunderstorms and rain showers—we were finally able to air things out, opening all the windows and doors to create a draft. Finally a chance to breathe easy—but it didn’t last long. Everything’s heated up, and there’s not a breath of wind today. Unfortunately, our bedroom faces northeast, so the sun beats down on it early in the morning, and in the afternoon, the sun beats down on the balcony from the other side. You could practically fry eggs out there. 

Right now it’s manageable (28 degrees inside, 31 degrees outside)—the fans are running, I’ve got a wet towel around my neck, a cold foot bath, I’m drinking plenty of water, and moving around as little as possible (I can crochet and do crafts from the sofa too *laughs*).

I was actually thinking of asking my parents if we could sleep over at their place—it’s a comfortable 24 degrees in their room, pleasantly cool, and their apartment’s on the ground floor. If this keeps up, we’ll see.

How I’d love a good load of snow right now.

Everything’s sticky: showers, cold foot baths, light meals, jelly dessert, lots to drink...

Hopefully it’ll cool down soon so we can breathe a sigh of relief and air out the place again. Right now, it’s a whopping 31 degrees in the apartment. This isn’t fun anymore.

Great idea. Unfortunately, I read about it too late because I was on vacation.

The heat is unbearable for me, too. You can only stand being on the balcony in the morning—then the sun comes out around noon. I’ve got all the blinds closed, too, and the fan is running; otherwise, it’s just too much. 

It’s currently 33 degrees outside and 28 degrees inside. Just too warm. But I’m still crocheting (just little things).

Drink plenty of fluids, enjoy some ice cream, and eat light meals. Cool your face and hands with cold water often, or take a cold foot bath.

I’d do it the same way as Veronika.
Take the old stuff off, crochet thick strips, and then weave them together like the original. In a solid color or multicolored, maybe with little tassels dangling down at the corners. Yes.
I’m curious to see what you decide. Then please post a photo for all of us :-)

Ouch, I just saw 1,245 on my list. I’ve already worked through some of them, but you never know.
I really should “clean it up” again.

I also wish everyone a lovely Whit Monday. The weather is supposed to stay like this.

Great, Inge, so we both have our wedding anniversary on the same day. That’s right. Have a lovely anniversary day.
For us, it’s our 8th wedding anniversary, but we met in 2011.

We’re making ourselves comfortable at home. The heat outside is getting to me. Plus, it’s chaotic everywhere, lots of people, bike paths full—no, I don’t need any of that.
My husband and I are going out for a nice, quiet meal on Tuesday (German cuisine or at a Greek restaurant), letting ourselves be served/pampered—that’s all we need.
Of course, crafts are a must too. I have time now, after all.

 

I’d like to learn how to sew “properly” at some point—with tips and tricks, sewing patterns, etc., and how to make buttonholes 

Not right around the corner, but it’s a 10-minute tram ride to the city center, and there are a few small alteration shops here and there. Most are run by Thai women (I think), and there’s one with German staff.
My mom was always very happy with the work, and the prices were pretty reasonable.

Whether it was shortening a pair of pants for my dad or hemming a curtain, I’ve even done those things myself as a novice and occasional hobby sewist using a sewing machine. So far, everything’s gone well—I was proud of myself :-)

My favorite sweater, crocheted with a gradient yarn cake in pastel colors, 3-ply, 2.5 mm hook.
Pattern from here (I can’t remember the shop right now). Even the pattern photo from the shop appealed to me, and I liked it. So I spontaneously thought, I’ll crochet that. And ta-da!
I’m so proud that I managed it, even without a gauge. I love wearing it so much.

Right now, I’m using up my stash. I haven’t bought any new yarn. Every now and then I work on small projects—they’re quick to finish—and my leftover yarn is slowly dwindling.

I went out today to buy a little flower for Mother’s Day, and it felt like the world was going to end tomorrow. So many people out and about, a long line at the checkout. Awful.
Luckily, we don’t have anything big planned—just relaxing on the couch, crafting or crocheting, with a cappuccino and homemade muffins. Then all is right with the world.

Well, it would be a shame not to have any wool for a while, but I do have other hobbies, so I’d turn to those for now.

For example, making cards, finally finishing my diamond painting projects, beading, casting stones, and painting pictures.
So I’ve got plenty to keep me busy until wool becomes available again. :-)

As for my crafts, I’ll continue working on the sweater for the crocheted dachshund so he doesn’t get cold. He’s still sitting
“naked” on the arm of the chair.
Card making is also on the agenda, along with die-cutting, drawing mandalas, and much more.

Wonderful—I love sunrises and sunsets like this.

Trend or not, it’s not a must-have. But everything comes back around somehow.
I enjoy crocheting these pieces—I wear some of them or give them away as gifts.
And granny blankets never go out of style. Crocheted blankets always find a use.

Otherwise, if you enjoy it, just go for it.

Definitely a plus for cotton yarn. That's all I crochet with.
