So, dear craft lovers, here is the toadstool I mentioned.
A toilet paper roll and 2 beer mats crocheted around. A little decoration, done.

Your mushroom is absolutely gorgeous. ☺☺☺

I think I’ll give that a try sometime, too.

Hugs, Marion

Very, very cute, Andrea. It also works great as a pincushion. :-)

Dear Andrea,

our curiosity paid off. A really beautiful fall decoration! You explained how to crochet it in the other thread. Now we can all make our own. The result turned out really great!

Best regards, Ina

Thank you all so much. I'm excited to see your mushroom creations. It's really not that hard.

Well, recreating this isn’t so easy for me (laughs), and Ecosia couldn’t help

me either. I found the tube—the mushroom’s
stem—and a beer coaster—the base

—but where’s the second beer coaster, and how do you make the mushroom cap? Stuffing?

Hello Petra,

I copied Andrea’s pattern from her thread for you (Upcycling Paper)

Here is Andreea’s original text:
Back then I crocheted, or rather crocheted around, a fly agaric. No idea where I saw that once.
You need 2 round cardboard beer coasters and a cardboard roll from toilet paper.
Crochet around one beer coaster with green yarn (on both sides); that is the
“base” for the mushroom. Shorten the cardboard roll a bit in height, and
crochet around it in white (mushroom stem). Then sew this onto the “base.”
And crochet around the 2nd beer coaster in red. One side
as usual, the other is crocheted a little rounded and lightly
stuffed with stuffing. That is the mushroom cap; embroider white dots on it. Then
decorate as you like with little flowers or similar — and your lucky mushroom is finished.

Thank you so much. The pattern is just right for fall, and we “yarn addicts” always have plenty of leftover yarn lying around for a little project like this.

Thank you, and have a lovely evening

Good luck with it, Petra,

and many thanks to Wollefaden for the quick help.

If you have any further questions or need stitch details, I’d be happy to help. (I used Järbo yarn and a size 2.25 hook).

It’s every bit as good as Andrea’s original. Just lovely to look at. You’ve decorated it with a nice autumnal touch, too. I really like the autumn leaves as well—and one has even fallen onto the mushroom cap—just like in real life. Nicely done!

Thanks, bergli and Ina.
It was really fun to decorate the mushroom.
Here’s another picture—hopefully it’s the right way around this time.

Thanks for sharing. I like your mushroom better than mine. Your mushroom cap looks more natural, and the decoration is lovely. Great!

I’m glad, Andrea.

You always have such great ideas and projects that you share with us here.
Your mosaic work also piqued my curiosity, so I’ve since bought a pattern.

Best regards
Marion

That’s lovely, Marion. Just give it a try, and I promise you won’t be able to stop because it’s so much fun once you get the hang of it.
I also crochet a lot from photos because the great patterns inspire me.
I’m already looking forward to seeing what you make.

Best wishes and have a lovely week
Andrea
