Dear community,
How is your yarn stash doing? Do you have enough, or do you need to buy more for your current projects or for your Christmas projects?
Buy more? Nah, on the contrary—I’m still working through my stash because of the upcoming Advent calendar.
I have enough, too.
I bought a new jacket and would like to make a shawl to go with it. I should already have a suitable color—I just need to look for it.
I stocked up in early summer. I had quite a few things in mind: a baby blanket for the little angel that was supposed to be finished by September, yarn for a sweater vest for my husband, and I was planning to knit a cardigan for myself. Then I broke my forearm in April. Five weeks in a cast, followed by physical therapy. Then I was finally able to knit again. I’d knitted 30 rows on the baby blanket, then we went on vacation. On the first day at the campground, I fell and broke my upper arm 🥺. Once again, I couldn’t knit for weeks. Now I have plenty of yarn, but only half of the baby blanket is finished. So I have more than enough yarn.
Best regards, Brigitte
Ohhh my, I think I can cover the next 10 Christmases—I have that much yarn in stock. I’m nowhere near running out of yarn :) I’m already working through my stash like crazy, but I haven’t really seen it go down much yet.
Just restocked. I’d used up one ball, so I needed 21 new ones. 🤪
Martina, your yarn stash can’t possibly shrink that fast, because I keep sending you more yarn every now and then :-)))
Besides, this afternoon I saw that some yarn attached itself to you again :-) Okay, it was only one skein, but it was one :-)
But that doesn’t mean my little mountain of yarn is getting any smaller either — that’s not how it works :-) ;-)
LG Inge
What is adhesive wool?
I’ve just used up a bit of my yarn stash and already bought some new yarn to knit a baby jacket. After that, I’ll go back to knitting or crocheting something from my stash. The days are getting shorter and the evenings longer, so I’ll definitely need to stock up before Christmas.
Anja, “sticky yarn” or “sticky fabric” are materials that *stick* to you ;-) before you leave the store—in other words, they absolutely want to come home with you :-)))
Best, Inge
That works for me online, too—almost like telepathy 😵💫
This summer, a friend gave me three large boxes of yarn. I sorted through them and gave two boxes away via classified ads. Even so, I still have a lot left in my stash. Let’s see what I can make with it all. The yarns vary widely in thickness and material, so not everything goes together easily. 🫣🤔
There are also sticky fabrics—they latched onto my heels recently. It was a tiny little shop, and unfortunately I didn’t have much time—just a quick peek inside—and boom, I found two beautiful, soft winter fleece fabrics made mostly of cotton. They also had yarn in the store, so I ended up picking up two skeins of sock yarn as well, simply because I loved the color so much. I’m sure you all know that happy feeling when you walk out of the store with your new treasures :-)
Have a wonderful day, everyone.
Best regards, Ina
On Saturday, there was a Dutch fabric market in town—I only wanted to buy some small snaps for my doll things... but in the end, one or two fabric remnants came home with me after all...
Best, Petra
Oh Petra, yes, the Dutch fabric market is dangerous. I’ve been there too—all those beautiful fabrics are just overwhelming—you’re bound to go on a shopping spree.
Best regards, Ina
Dear Ina, you’re so right—I had to hold on to my wallet veeeery tightly....
Best regards, Petra
