My old shelf in my sewing room was on the verge of completely falling apart, and when my husband saw that, he said it had to go right away before it came crashing down on your back. So I started clearing it out and took the opportunity to sort through things again :-) You wouldn’t believe all the stuff you collect and hold onto over time. :-) ;-)
The new shelf arrived today, and my husband put it together and set it up right away, so I was able to start organizing it. But it won’t stay like this, because I want to buy some different storage boxes to create a more uniform look—but I’m not in any rush about that. I’ll come across them when I need them, and then it’ll all work out :-) The button box used to be a storage case for one of my husband’s tools; now I keep my buttons in it, sorted into various small-item boxes.

Your husband did a great job. Now the shelf looks sturdy and tidy again. And you even discovered some long-lost treasures while setting it up and putting things away—what more could you ask for?
Best regards, Ina
True, Ina, I found an ancient pocket calculator in the shape of a hundred-mark bill; I didn’t even remember it still existed. :-)) It was lying in a box, living a quiet little life :-) I only really kept the thing so I’d always know what a hundred-mark bill used to look like :-) But the calculator still works—30 minutes under the lamp and it was running again :-)

Inge, your shelf turned out really nice and looks very tidy. It’s really sweet of partners to worry about our safety like that.
My husband had been trying to persuade me for a long time to finally get rid of my grandma’s ancient heating pad for safety reasons. Since I’m already over 60, you can imagine how old that pad was. When I got cold during our winter vacation and the heating pad was back at home, he seized the opportunity and quickly bought a new one.
You’ve really found a treasure with that calculator—I wouldn’t even have remembered what a 100-mark bill looked like anymore.
Wishing everyone a lovely fall day, Sabine
Thanks to you all and to Sabine—it looks even better now. Since I found some affordable boxes for the shelf yesterday and was able to pick them up right away, I’ve been tidying up and sorting things out ever since. Man, the things you collect—and then you ask yourself why you ever kept this or that in the first place, because it all went flying out the door. One thing’s for sure: the trash cans are pretty full :-)

I miss the old currency 🫤 After all, we grew up with it. I still convert to DM. 🤪
Great boxes Inge ♡
Anja, my husband and I do that too—we do the math and then say, “No, thanks—not at that price.”
Best regards, Inge
Exactly! 40 euros for a T-shirt? 78 DM??? NO!
With the new clear boxes, everything looks very neat and organized! Now you’ll spend less time searching and have more time for sewing.
Best regards, Ina
P.S. Out of nostalgia, my husband has been saving banknotes from older currencies and showed them to me the other day. It feels so strange—and it’s amazing how quickly you forget them, even though you used them to pay for things for years. I’ll take a picture of them sometime when I get the chance. Inge’s calculator has already become a real cult classic because of its banknote design.
Inge, perfect 👌
