Community & Help
Dear community,
Can you work well with roving yarn (= single-ply wool, lightly twisted / plied yarn made from virgin wool / natural fibers with a fluffy, soft texture, almost like a candle wick)? Do you have any experience with it?
Hello Josefa, I don’t have any trouble knitting with roving yarns. Someone with little practice might possibly have difficulties because you have to insert the needle exactly into the stitch and should not split the yarn itself.
However, you should think carefully about what you want to make from yarns like these. Roving yarn is not especially suitable for items that get a lot of wear or are washed often. It pills faster than tightly plied yarns.
Best wishes from Krümelmonster
It doesn’t really cause any problems, but I don’t like it very much.
I don’t really like this yarn either.
It always tickles my nose when I knit or crochet with it.
And it also sheds when I wear it.
There are much nicer yarns out there...
