This is what it looked like yesterday. Today I’m sitting out on the patio again—gotta make the most of it before it gets cold here again.

Final Sprint and Awards Ceremony // August 2020 Edition

Dear Josefa,
I’ll be honest—I have absolutely no idea how this kind of contest or awards ceremony works. Are people nominated? How is it determined? What do the participants have to do??? There’s a ton of text and checkboxes. Whether you’re the one doing something, filling something out, making a selection, or being nominated by others—I don’t have the faintest idea. Of course, I’m happy for those who’ve won a title. But please don’t be mad at me—this just isn’t my thing.

if anyone would like a title, they can sign up and share what they’ve accomplished over the past month.
Then I’ll assign appropriate titles. It’s just a potentially entertaining or even insightful way to wrap up the month and celebrate achievements, etc. It’s also about growing as an author, improving and revamping the shop, the patterns, etc. Many of our authors and users also appreciate the opportunity to finish their UFOs (unfinished objects = neglected craft projects), which the monthly projects—with their final push and awards ceremony—naturally encourage.

If you don’t want to do that, that’s fine too, but I’m sure there would have been plenty of titles available for you. :- )

Ah, dear Josefa, so it’s a chance to reflect on what you’ve accomplished over the past month and what you can be proud of. Now that you’ve “translated” it for me again and I’ve read through the thread linked above more carefully, I think it’s a lovely opportunity for self-reflection. Time flies by so quickly, and sometimes you don’t even realize what you’ve accomplished in detail or where you’ve grown.

So I tried filling this out for myself. But no, this time I would have only been able to earn points for my participation in the forum. I can’t do much crafting right now because my wrist—which was operated on again three weeks ago—and my stiff shoulder still won’t let me. But I’m sticking with it! AND I’m also working on a new crochet pattern, since I crochet with my right hand. But I’m not putting any pressure on myself to finish it quickly. When it’s done, it’s done. But this new project brings me joy every day—I’m making progress in small steps. That’s all that matters!

And when I type here with all 10 fingers, that’s hand exercise, too. Once I have more to show for my efforts than just forum participation, I’ll be happy to join the title thread.

I’m enjoying mine too, as often as I can, over the next few days it will be getting an addition... I’ve almost finished my bird villa, just a little “fine-tuning” left, and then onto a metal pole and set it up (I have two “murder cats”)... 

Dear Andrea, Norway is beautiful. But unfortunately, we also live in Bavaria, and that’s sooo far away. Otherwise, I’d definitely be tempted to go.

You all have such nice spots in your gardens, especially ones sheltered from the wind; over here, everything’s open, and it can get a bit windier at times.

Thanks..... sometimes I need a little time in my “workshop.” And then I lose track of time while tinkering. A villa like this has been standing in the garden for several years now. I built this one without a “pattern” — the wood I had on hand wasn’t big enough, so I had to come up with something of my own. Sketched it out and off to the saw...... 
If you wanted to move into a full-size one, though, you’d have to do a bit of renovating — the whole thing is a little crooked, but it’s dry 😀
With the weather we’re having right now, I sit in the annex, with big windows and a view of the garden, and with the dog on my feet, so they don’t get cold...
