I’ve knitted another home for baby squirrels, which will go to the rehabilitators. It just needs to be felted. I used some swap yarn for it.

Now I’m (almost) speechless. ;-) Thanks again to all of you!

I’m as happy as a child about each and every one of your congratulations. That’s what makes life beautiful. And yes, I appreciate little things like this—put together with love—much more than something bought off the shelf. These are personal values that mean a lot to me. Of course, there was also a beautiful card and flowers. And a “survival bag” filled with lots of delicious treats—all things we really like. They really put a lot of thought into their gift. We weren’t expecting any of this at all. We just wanted to celebrate this special day together.

The little things in life—spending time with loved ones—that’s what has true value. And for that, we’re always grateful. That’s why I’m also grateful for this forum and our interactions here, even if they’re only virtual.

Warm greetings to all of you, and may you have a week filled with plenty of time and joy.

Monika

Oh Mel, that looks so pretty—the way you’ve dressed your little one. Great color combo, too. I’m really glad you’re actively participating here again—we’ve really missed you. It’s great to have you back, and now you’re making the doll moms happy, too.

Ines, your doily with the flower is a real work of art. It’s amazing what little details like beads and flowers can do.

Sandra, I’m also glad to have you back here. Anton’s guests will surely love your bags. And the idea of crocheting a cover for the bottle is practical, too. I’ve knitted covers with thick yarn for our insulated water bottles so they stay warm longer. I hope you’ll be back to full health soon and can join in on everything with your family.

Marlene, the pattern and colors of your soul warmer look great. That would be something for me, too.

Steffi, I’d already admired your gloves in another thread. You really have to take good care of them. Your shirt looks great, too. You can create amazing pattern combinations with knit and purl stitches. I love that, too.

Creative Ways to Use Sock Yarn and Leftover Sock Yarn

I knitted this slipover for my 6-year-old granddaughter from one skein (100 g) of sock yarn, plus a few leftovers for the pops of color. It keeps the body nice and warm, especially in transitional weather, and the hands stay free for lots of freedom of movement.

Canning for the Modern Homemaker

Dear Ina, that’s lovely. I’m practicing patience—and I’m actually happy to do so. You’re lucky to have such a big garden with all those treasures. Those are the real treasures.

I have more than enough jars with these lids; I was actually planning to give some away. Of course, I won’t be doing that now. Cans are out of the question for me. And I don’t buy jars either. I always save every jar, and now I finally know why. :-)

We have a great farmer just around the corner. Anything I don’t grow myself in the garden—including plants—I buy from him. It’s such a great feeling to harvest your own vegetables. But we only have limited space in the garden and on the balcony. Today we ate our first homegrown cucumber. It tastes worlds better than the ones we buy.
