Dear users, dear authors,
it’s great to have you here. It’s great that you’re here.
It’s great that we have such a nice community here. :-)
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Dear Josefa, it’s so nice of you to write that. Every now and then, we just need to say things like that to ourselves so we can really take it in. It’s not something we can take for granted. Here, everyone finds a listening ear, people who care, and just a little bit of lightheartedness and a break from everyday life. Anyone can stop by, chat, look around, get curious, and write down their joys and worries. Thank you all so much for always being there for one another. Thank you, Josefa, for reminding us.
Josefa, I’d also like to thank you for your reminder. That was really beautifully said. And it’s also wonderful that you’re here for all of us. We just need a motivator, even here.
I’d also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you who actively participate in the forum. It really has become like one big family. There’s always someone here to help out, offer advice, or just “listen.” In this day and age, that’s something special and valuable.
It’s wonderful that you’re all here and that we can inspire each other.
Thank you for letting US
be here.
I feel very welcome here and would also like to wish everyone a pleasant week and Gabi
a wonderful vacation.
Hopefully we’ll all get through this heat wave just fine.
If things get too hot, a bowl of cold water helps—just dip your feet in and knit or crochet.
Warm regards from Mona (Froschoma Mona)
Thank you, Josefa, for providing us with such a great platform where we’re allowed to *be here*. It’s a wonderful community here, and you can really escape from everyday life—just browsing the gallery can take hours without you even noticing how time flies :-);-)
The heat is going to be a challenge for me again, but I already have everything ready to make it easier on myself.
Wishing you all a wonderful week, whatever you’re doing
Is everyone still doing okay? No one boiled yet? We only reached 38 degrees here, which was less than expected, but that was plenty for us. Tomorrow afternoon, thunderstorms are supposed to cool us down.
Oh yes, Veronika, I’m still doing fine. It was a pleasant 32 degrees here today, and it was quite bearable in the shade on the lawn with a breeze. Tomorrow, though, it’s supposed to hit 36 degrees... phew.
It was 37° here this afternoon, and that really knocked me for a loop—or rather, I had to lie down again because I was dizzy and my head felt like a German hammer mill had moved in. I can’t handle that at all and only go out as far as the mailbox or the trash cans.
As for crafts, I just can’t muster any enthusiasm for them at all.
We went to the pool yesterday morning—it was really nice. In the afternoon, we were on the patio where it was 39 degrees. The wind was warm, too, so we just stayed in the shade and did some crocheting. The water in the rain barrels is slowly running out; I hope it rains soon for the sake of the plants and trees.
you’ve really put it into words beautifully—that we’re allowed to be here. I’ve felt very comfortable here in the forum from the very beginning, and I’m glad. It’s like a big family where every little problem is heard. You’re all great.
The heat is getting to everyone right now. Stay healthy anyway—drink plenty of fluids, cool off, and don’t overexert yourselves…
…which is difficult for me as a caregiver. We work on the 4th floor, practically under the roof, where the heat really builds up. I’m really struggling with it, and so are the many elderly residents, of course. How are you supposed to air out the room when it’s hotter outside than inside?
Oh, Inge, the way you always write about this—so humorous, but also sad—shows just how stressful this is for you, and perhaps for many other older people here as well.
Everyone’s hoping for rain. Everything’s parched and dry. That’s just how nature is.
So we have to find distractions with crafts, cold foot baths, and eating ice cream.
A quick message to everyone on this hot day... Imagine it’s November—gray, dark, drizzly, and unpleasant, with the cold creeping into your bones. Just try to make the most of this summer day. For most people—at least here in Germany—the heat wave won’t last that long. There are areas that are much worse off.
Yesterday, a meteorologist on my TV said that it can’t get hotter than 40 degrees in Brandenburg. You can actually calculate that. And he thinks we won’t reach that. It’s bound to cool down again.
In my garden, it already looks almost autumnal because of the dryness—every step crackles. Luckily, we have a well that we use to water the plants.
Dear Inge, hang in there! It’ll cool down soon. Then you can get back to your sewing machine and sew something nice for the kids at the food bank. Until then, put cool cloths on your forehead and just focus on “eye care”—in other words, look at the world from the inside. It’ll pass, for sure, very soon.
