Leftover sock yarn is wonderful for crocheting or knitting doll clothes. Sweaters in particular get a beautiful pattern that comes “all by itself” from the ball of yarn.

Here, for example, is a knitted sweater with hat that you can knit for male and female dolls. It is knitted as a top-down raglan, so the size can be adjusted very easily.

And here is an example of a crocheted doll sweater: Here too, an interesting pattern appears all by itself. A matching pair of long pants can also be crocheted.

And here is something completely different:

I also crocheted Seahorse Hippy  from a leftover bit of self-striping sock yarn. This yarn even had a glitter thread running through it, which makes the seahorse’s body shimmer beautifully.

These two shawls are knitted from sock yarn.

Shawl "Regenbogentröpfli"

Shawl "Spoony"

Since sock yarn also keeps you nice and warm, it's worth starting the shawls now for the colder season.
That way you'll have plenty of time to knit them.

I knitted this slipover for my 6-year-old granddaughter from one skein (100 g) of sock yarn, plus a few leftovers for the pops of color. It keeps the body nice and warm, especially in transitional weather, and the hands stay free for lots of freedom of movement.

The slipover is easy to knit if you have knitting experience.

This children's sweater is much loved and is also knitted from sock yarn. It fits 4- to 5-year-olds.

A pair of knitted pants made from sock yarn for toddlers from age 1. The pants can't slip down thanks to the straps, and they grow along too. The cuffs are folded over later, and the straps can be adjusted. The pants have a pretty cable pattern on the sides.

I’d be happy to show you a few of my patterns made with sock yarn.
The patterns are also suitable for confident beginners.
The items can be made from either new sock yarn or leftovers.

1.
My knitted short socks “Fake Cable”.
You start these at the toe and knit the cuff for as long as your leftovers last.

2.
My crocheted crochet socks “Spirelli Spring”.
You also start these at the toe and crochet the cuff for as long as your
leftovers last.Click here to go to the Crochet Socks Spirelli Spring pattern.

3.
My crocheted wrist warmers “Noriaki II”.
Cleverly crocheted wrist warmers that look much more complicated than they are to crochet.

Do you have a bit of sock yarn left over? No problem. You can use it to crochet or knit enchanting doll clothes. Take a look at what I made from it. For more pictures and info, just click on the headings.

Warm regards, Ina

Poncho for dolls in various styles

This is a lovely project for crochet beginners, because the cut of the poncho is super easy.

Cardigans for dolls

They are knitted in one piece as a top-down raglan; the length is variable.

There is soft sock yarn too—like this one here with a blend of angora and merino. That means you can also crochet a blanket from leftovers. It is started in the middle (with the smallest leftover), so you can crochet it to any size you like

And of course spiral socks. These socks are knitted without a heel, so they fit across several sizes. If you are knitting for children (great in rubber boots), then leftovers will probably be enough for you too.

I also crocheted this bonnet for babies from sock yarn. If you use a baby sock yarn, it is soft enough for a hat too.

From leftover sock yarn, of course, you can

crochet baby socks

Or make this pair from different colors

What else can you make with a leftover?

It's still warm, but why not start preparing for the colder season now with Uzukimasen .
Uzumakisen is knitted as a spiral sock using the double-face technique.
That saves you from knitting the heel.

The PDF file consists of 3 pages with step-by-step instructions, photos, and a knitting chart.

With Bou , you wear the sock yarn on your head instead of on your feet.
This knitted hat will be as big as you need it to be.

The two-page PDF file consists of written step-by-step instructions.

The Rachel triangular shawl is crocheted from leftover sock yarn. Two granny patterns alternate. You can make the Rachel triangular shawl in any size. Whether solid-colored or colorful, it will definitely be an eye-catcher.

The Soeur Emanuelle crochet cardigan is crocheted from sock yarn. Sock yarn has the advantage of being quite fine and therefore especially well suited for small openwork patterns. The main part consists of a small shell pattern that spans two rows. You’ll learn this pattern quickly and crochet it almost on the side, e.g. while watching TV or listening to an audiobook.
The sleeves are crocheted in double crochet; they are crocheted directly onto the main part made up of the front and back pieces. Stop by my Blickfang-Design store. You’ll find the pattern there.
