Hard-working little helpers in the sunshine

You’ve finished some great things—wow! That butterfly turned out amazing! I’m really impressed.

Today I started a new project in the garden for my granddaughter. She wants a very specific bag. I’m already curious to see what the finished piece will look like and whether she’ll like it.

Oh Marion, you’ve really set your sights high. I really like the top part, and the bottom part too, of course. But the colors on top are totally my style.

Have fun finishing up that UFO.

I started a new project today. Linja gave me an idea. She wants a very special bag. It’s already looking good, but I need a few details from her now. I’m curious myself to see how it’ll look when it’s finished.

I’ve already set aside a few things for the trip. I bought a crochet pattern from WollholicClaudia that I really liked. And I want to start that project on vacation. After all, my hooks need to get some use while we’re camping, too.

Our Favorite Summer Recipes

Wow, that’s a great idea. I’d love to join in. I’ll have to send the photo later, though.

What would summer be without—homemade—ice cream! :)

I experimented with it for a long time until I got it just right. Since then, we’ve only been eating this delicious homemade ice cream. It’s super quick to make, and so far, everyone has loved it.

Quick Fruit Ice Cream made in the Thermomix

Preparation:
  • Freeze your choice of fruit in small containers—ideally in a way that allows you to take out individual portions.
  • Also freeze bananas—in small portions of 1 to 2—and pre-cut into pieces about 2–3 cm in size. This way, you can take them out in portions.
Ingredients for 3–4 people:
  • 30 g (2 tbsp) xylitol
  • 70–75 g cashews
  • about 120–150 g frozen banana (equivalent to about 1 banana)
  • 300–350 g frozen fruit of your choice (together with the bananas, this should total 500 g)
Preparation:
  • Finely grind the xylitol and cashews for 10 seconds on speed 10
  • Then add all the fruit and mix for 1 minute (or a little longer) on speed 10, using the spatula to help.
And there you have it: a super delicious, healthy, and fruity ice cream—without milk or sugar. You can also omit the xylitol if you use a little more banana (e.g., 200 g). You can also add vanilla.

A recipe for hazelnut ice cream is coming soon. I’m currently testing it out and fine-tuning it.

Sandra, I love St. Gilgen. You mean the one on Lake Wolfgang in Austria, right?
We stayed at a campground there two years ago, and it was just wonderful.

I hope you have a great vacation there!

June Projects: Win Great Titles + Meet Nice People Online

Yes, summer really is for “real life.” But we can still be active virtually every now and then. We also always enjoy trips around the area. I still get around to knitting or crocheting every now and then.

Yesterday I finished knitting the second outfit—with slightly longer sleeves and legs. Here’s what the two outfits look like now.

And this is what the twin teddy bears look like dressed

June Projects: Win Great Titles + Meet Nice People Online

It’s finally summer… you can really feel it here on the forum. I feel the same way—I don’t really feel like using the computer when the weather is this nice.

Sandra, I’m already curious about your new figures, too. :)

I’ve now finished the suit for one of the twin teddy bears. It looks totally cute—take a look:

Today I’ve almost finished knitting the second one, where the colors are reversed. In the next few days, I’ll post a picture of both of them together here.

By the way, the outfit is very easy to adjust to any size and even fits dolls. Since I’m really into it right now, I’m already thinking about making some for a few smaller and larger teddy bears. That’ll use up a lot of my leftover yarn, and I can try out different color combinations.

Next week I’ll finally get to see my two granddaughters. I’m already excited to see Juna. She’ll be a month old by then. Time flies so fast.

Hardworking little helpers: How are you doing, and what are you up to?

Akela, you have great ideas. :) The bags look fantastic. And the apron is super practical. You’d have to think of that first. I hope you feel better soon, too.

I’m continuing to knit the leggings for my granddaughter, and the first leg is already taking shape.

Today we’re having salad and roasted vegetables with smoked tofu.

Your potholders are a great idea, Mel. I really like them.

Now that my top is finished, I’ve already made quite a bit of progress on the leggings for Linja. The first leg is taking shape...

And today I’m finally going to get back to working on the suit for the teddy bears.

Next week, I’m taking the RV on a trip to Ravensburg to visit my grandchildren. I’m really looking forward to it. Linja has told me what she’d like me to crochet for her. But I’ll have to take a closer look at it first and then come up with something. It’ll be a real challenge, because I don’t have any idea yet. :-) So I’m curious myself to see how it turns out.

By the way, I don’t live that far from Lake Chiemsee, and we often go there for short trips. Salzburg is also only 90 km away. And we head over to the Bad Tölz area every now and then in our RV. It’s really something to have the best vacation spots right in your backyard. :)

Mel, Marion, and Ruth, I’m so glad you like my top, too. :)

My usual colors are more red, yellow, and orange, but this yarn had been sitting in my “diet” and “leftover yarn” drawer for quite a while. So I finally took it out and knitted this top with it. It’s something completely different. I hadn’t imagined it would turn out this great beforehand.

I already have a few new ideas swirling around in my head about how I can put my leftover yarn to good use. But those ideas still need to mature a bit... :)
