Covers for bowls

A while back, a friend gave me a bunch of glass bowls in various sizes. They do come with plastic lids, but I think this alternative is great. Everything is tightly sealed and stays fresh longer that way. The lids are, of course, reusable and very sturdy.

But if you don’t have those, the fabric alternative is absolutely fantastic.

Recipe for Delicious Amerikaner - Different Variations

Oh, how delicious, Marion! Pineapple cake..... hmmmm! Unfortunately, you live so far away, too. What a shame!

Andrea, you really got me so excited about these cookies that I actually baked them today. Now we’ve saved our coffee afternoons for 3 days (and one to freeze).

This time I tried a new variation that tastes really delicious. I used 280 g of VK spelt flour and added 40 g of ground apricot kernels. They taste like bitter almonds—so, like marzipan. We polished these off this afternoon.

Oh my goodness, Akela, they’ve gotten even cuter. And sooo cuddly. The kids are sure to love them, and they’re great for cheering people up. I think it’s really great of you to give the kids a gift like this.

Yes, Steffi, your pieces are really very pretty... You’re sure to find grateful buyers who’ll be delighted with them. Elf wings... that’s something special.

I’m both a colleague and a customer of Polly & Paule, and I can only say that the patterns are described in great detail. Before people start spreading discontent here, I always recommend writing to us authors directly. Then we can easily resolve such issues.

Final Sprint and Awards Ceremony // November Edition 2020 (No Advertising)

Thanks, Josefa! You always manage to put a smile on my face when I read your awards ceremony posts. I especially like “The Queen of the Bakery.”

I’d really miss something here if there were only an awards ceremony every three months. After all, it’s incredibly motivating to finish things and stick with it. So we’ll just have to motivate each other.

Christmas Gifts for Children 2020

Children are always delighted when we make clothing for their favorites—their teddy bears and dolls. A new model has just moved into my shop: overalls for teddy bears measuring 25–30 cm.

The overalls have no buttons, so they are very easy to put on and take off. They are knitted top-down in the round, and every  step is explained clearly, making them a joy to recreate.

The pattern includes information for two different yarn weights.

Winter Walk

Dear Andrea,
thanks again for the wonderful glimpses into your natural world in Norway. It actually reminds me a bit of the pictures I’ve seen of Canada.

Here, it’s sunny and cold. In the morning, there’s frost on the roofs, and the trees have shed all their leaves. Just typical November, I guess.

But somehow, every season has its own special charm. At least that’s how I feel.

Warm regards from southern Germany (so, quite far away)

Knitting for Christmas 2020

There’s a new pattern for teddy bear clothes—a cute onesie. It fits teddy bears and dolls that are about 25–30 cm tall.

The onesie is very easy to put on and take off since it doesn’t require any buttons. This is especially handy for kids. The pattern covers two different yarn weights and also includes tips for other sizes.

Current knitting trends 2020 / 2021?

When I read the comments on my Facebook page, I see that knitting socks seems to always be in style. Most people knit them for Christmas.

I’m curious to see what else is trending. Maybe someone knows more?

Just try entering "collar" or something similar in the search here. You'll find a large selection, and maybe the one you want will be among them.

Wishing you lots of success!

Thank you, Andrea, for taking us on another trip through Norway. These are such beautiful scenes. I also like the mystical photo—the second-to-last one—the best. It has something very special about it. And I like the last one, too. It takes me on a journey... It looks almost like Canada over there.

Knitting Pattern: Shawl Collar and Braided Collar.

@USCHWA
I would recommend contacting the author directly. Usually there is a way to get in touch in the pattern or here through the shop where you bought the pattern.

There you’ll surely get the explanation you’re looking for.

What kind of yarn should I use for warm winter socks?

Yes, I also look for a high wool content in socks. I’ve used pure virgin wool several times now and notice that the socks are very durable and stay clean for a long time.

All my wool socks can go in the washing machine, but only on the wool cycle and with shampoo.

Encounter with Our Hedgehog in the Garden

Well, we see it as a luxury villa. Hedgehogs might see it a little differently. ;-)
Basically, it doesn’t matter whether they hibernate under or next to the house in the straw. The main thing is that they’re well protected. Right now, they’re eating less, which also means they’re getting ready. The nights are already pretty cold.

Ines, every hedgehog needs its own spot to hibernate. Especially once they’re sexually mature. They’re basically loners, except when they’re still small. To hibernate, they should weigh at least 500 g. Judging by our hedgehogs, I’d say they’re probably there.

I’m really curious to see which of the spots we’ve offered they’ll prefer. :-)

Pattern

Thank you so much, Sabine!
I’m sure all the authors here are delighted to hear that.

However, the individual authors are also very happy when they receive praise through a star review on their specific products. And the best part is that, through October 31, you can even win store credit by doing so. So it’s definitely worth participating.

Under “Account” – “Downloads” at the top, you can access the products you’ve purchased, and there you’ll see which ones still need reviews.

Good luck, and best regards
Monika

It’s very simple.

On every product page, on the right-hand side below the red “Shopping Cart” button, you’ll find a link that says “+ Add to Wish List.” You can find these items again by clicking “Wish List” in the top right corner.

Gloomy outlook today

It sounds strange, but right now I love this fall weather, even when it’s a little gloomy. Over the summer, I left so many things lying around the apartment because I’d rather be in the garden. And now I’m finally getting around to it. There’s a lot to tidy up, and quite a bit is waiting for me on the computer, too. And of course, I look forward to knitting every day.

Hardworking little elves: What are you working on today?

Wow, Ina, those are such beautiful slippers—as if made for a ballerina. They’re really something special; they’re sure to bring a lot of joy.

My grandchildren’s parents are actually very happy that the kids are getting hand-knitted items. Since they love natural materials, this means a lot to them. And it just makes me happy to fulfill their wishes.

I also wish all the readers here a wonderful weekend!

Best wishes, Monika
