Have a lovely crafting weekend, everyone // The final push for New Year’s resolutions

Dear users, dear authors,
I wish you a lovely weekend with plenty of time for crafting and relaxing. Are things going well for you with your crafts and in real life too?

Tip: Studies say that if you have any New Year’s resolutions, you only need to stick with them until the end of January. After that, most people give up on their good intentions again. Unless, of course, you’re the exception and keep at it. Are you still sticking with them, or do you generally not make resolutions?

That’s a good question, Josefa.
I don’t have any specific resolutions at the start of the year, except that I’ll do everything I can to stay healthy and creative. At almost 70 years old, I no longer like to put pressure on myself to absolutely achieve something. In the end, that just leads to frustration if I don’t achieve it, for whatever reason.

But when I really want something, I stick with it until I achieve it.

Things are going well right now, and there are already some new ideas to put into action.

Thank you, Josefa—wishing you and everyone else here a wonderful weekend too!
We don’t have New Year’s resolutions—we’re good enough as we are! 🤣🤣 No, there’s little to nothing we can do ourselves to influence what we wish for; all we can do is pray and hope.
Things are going well with my crafts—the weather’s terrible, so I have plenty of time, lots of yarn, and great ideas from all of you here. And as long as things don’t get any worse in real life, I’m satisfied—health is the only thing that matters right now. At least for us; things look worse out in the world.

Dear Josefa, I wish you and all the other readers a lovely, relaxing weekend too

My New Year’s resolutions are always the same: don’t buy so much new yarn and reduce my stashes of every kind. And I’m working hard on that, too.

Today I quickly tossed 6 old gardening magazines into the paper recycling bin

And I sewed a needle pouch for my size 5 circular knitting needles out of an old tablecloth. That reduced my fabric stash and tidied up my knitting needle box.

I actually got some things done this weekend—I applied for my pension. The time has come: as of May 1, I’ll officially be retired—yippee! 🤣

Thanks, Josefa—wishing you and everyone here a wonderful weekend, too. As for resolutions, I don’t need a final push, because I never make any for the new year—they always go wrong anyway, so there’s no point.
Love, Inge

I don’t need any new resolutions either. I set goals for myself every day. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don’t. I don’t put any pressure on myself about it anymore. It makes life more relaxed that way.

Right now, I’m hooked on sewing. I just sewed two T-shirts for my grandson. I’ll show them to you soon in a blog post. In early March, my youngest granddaughter will turn 2, and she wants dresses. Well, it goes without saying that this is now my task for the foreseeable future. I’ve already bought the pattern (long-sleeved, with ruffles on the shoulders, a few pleats in the skirt), and the printer is printing it out right now. Tomorrow I’ll tape the pieces together and then start working on it. We’ll see if it turns out the way I imagine it.

I wish everyone a wonderful weekend.

Best regards, Ina

I’m done with resolutions. It’s so depressing when yet another resolution bursts like a soap bubble.

These days, I only make short-term plans. You should live every day as if it were your last anyway. That’s been working pretty well for me for the past year.

Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday.
Best wishes, Marlies
