My First Attempts at Sewing

I started sewing a while ago. My first project was a set of summer pillows with a hotel-style closure. I used my crocheted flowers, and instead of leaves or stems, I simply sewed on a zigzag trim. I liked the pillows. It wasn’t hard, and I had a presentable result right away.

They turned out really great!

Great job, Petra! I think it’s a really great idea to decorate the pillows with the colorful crocheted flowers and the zigzag trim. Without this decoration, they’d be boring pillows, but this way they’re real eye-catchers! Very decorative and stylish—and a great inspiration for all sewing enthusiasts. I still have some crocheted flowers, too... ;-)

wow, that looks absolutely beautiful with the crocheted flowers. What a great idea to use zigzag stitching for the stems. You did a lovely job.

I used to sew a few cushions with envelope closures myself. It’s quick and always looks neat.

If I worked at a daycare center or was a dedicated mom there, I’d sew lots of these pillows for the center. The kids would especially love them—they’re so colorful and cheerful.
