Hello, dear friends,
my little grandson is currently totally into ninja motifs. I found two lovely, colorful motifs on Etsy, which I’ve now sewn into T-shirts for him. For the coordinating fabric for the back, sleeves, and neckband, I chose cotton jersey fabric in matching colors.
I tried something new on both shirts. It’s about the neckband. Since I don’t have an overlock sewing machine, I always used to have a cut fabric edge at the back of the neck. It always looked so messy.
Here I tried a new variation and found it very good. I make the neck binding myself from the solid-colored cotton jersey fabric that I used in the T-shirt anyway. Once the neck facing is sewn in, it looks the same from the outside and the inside. There are no more unattractive fabric edges because all the fabric edges are inside the facing.
I still had to practice on the first shirt. With the second shirt, I already knew what to pay attention to when sewing it in.
You can read how I make a neck facing here in my blog post: https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/blog/3566/passendes-jersey-band-fuer-halseinfassung-selber-machen-so-gelingt-es
This is what the neck binding looks like from the outside:

I’m totally happy with my new neckline.
Best wishes, Ina
