Peterle’s New Clothes

Oh, how lovely! Your Peterle looks really adorable in his new outfit. I’d be tempted to swipe him from you. What a heartwarming gesture from your husband. A teddy bear is always a good idea.
I wish you both many more happy years together.

Warmest regards
Andrea :-)

Happy weekend: Do you have anything special planned?

Thank you, Josefa—I wish the same for everyone else, of course.
I don’t have anything big planned. I’ll be doing some crafts and crocheting again, and if it’s nice and warm again tomorrow, I’ll be sitting out on the balcony too. I’ll keep working on my little diamond painting.

We had coffee on the balcony again today, but as soon as the sun disappears behind the corner of the house, it gets chilly.

Stay healthy, everyone

Best regards, Andrea

Happy weekend / Full moon today

Likewise, Josefa, and I also wish everyone else a relaxing, sunny weekend, with plenty of crafts or whatever else you have planned.

I’m going to enjoy my time off, do some crafts, and make Easter cards, and I also have some Diamond Painting pictures I started that I still need to finish ... At some point, I also want to cast and paint stones. So it’s
never boring around here—I just need more time :-)

Best regards, Andrea

Hardworking little helpers: What are you working on this week?

Inge, your embroidered bunny looks so pretty. I'm always amazed at what kind of technology some people have at home.

Petra, your placemat looks really great. Are the rows topstitched there? It looks nice and even.
I can’t keep up with that.

I’m crocheting these flip-flop bag charms again

Does crafting make you happy?

Yes, it definitely makes me happy. A day without crafts is a day wasted. It helps me relax completely, lets me unwind from work, and when I can make someone happy with something I’ve crocheted or knitted myself, it’s even better.

Start of Spring 2025: Can You Feel It Yet?

Happy Carnival / Rose Monday 2025

Nothing’s happening here in Brandenburg. We just watched the Rose Monday parade from Frankfurt am Main live on TV because my husband is from there.
Otherwise, it’s been pretty quiet.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone: short February / no leap year

Oh, how cute. They always look so fluffy.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Sunday. I’m enjoying my day off, doing some crafts and experimenting (I always switch between bullet journaling, crocheting, diamond painting, or making cards) depending on what I feel like doing.

My old die-cutting machine gave out—I cranked it a little too hard, and snap, it broke.
I have a new Big Shot now, and I’m testing it out, die-cutting like crazy.

Does anyone else have a Double Do? I still have some plates left over, if anyone’s interested.

Warm regards from me :-))

Busy Little Elves: Who bought yarn?

I still have plenty in stock, but a few days ago I bought just a single 100-gram skein of white—I needed it for my mosaic granny squares. Other than that, I’ve stayed strong.

I’m trying to work through my yarn little by little. I also still have some yarn I don’t like—I just can’t bring myself to use it.

Actually, I didn’t really want to...

Oh, how cute—and she even has hair! She’s dressed so nicely. It’s almost enough to make me want another one, but my two are already in their doll stroller—that’s enough for me. If I had more space, I’d buy an Amelie like that, too.
Have fun with her!

Have a great weekend, everyone: February will be over soon

Thank you, Josefa, and I wish everyone else here a relaxing weekend as well. Temperatures are above freezing, and the sun is supposed to come out. It only made a brief appearance this afternoon.
I have the day off and am enjoying this time doing crafts, DIY projects, bullet journaling, etc.
I don’t have anything new on my crochet hook either, but I’m always trying out new patterns in mosaic crochet. You can find tons of patterns for that online.

Stay healthy, everyone, and to those who are sick, get well soon

warm regards from me

Awesome, Inge. Your little spring tree looks really great. It really gets you in the mood for spring.
Was that another one of your own creations, or was it based on a template?

Amigurumi Without Sewing—How Does That Work?

No one likes a lot of sewing when it comes to amigurumi. I prefer patterns where the arms and legs are crocheted right into the body—that saves you the hassle of sewing them on later.

But you have to crochet the limbs first in order to incorporate them later. In some patterns, even the heads are crocheted right in from the start. So you crochet everything in one piece, from the bottom up. That works.

Small parts, like the snout and ears, sometimes have to be sewn on. I hope that was explained clearly enough.

Happy weekend / a good start to February

Thank you, and I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday, too.

My deepest condolences, Veronika. It’s always sad when a loved one passes away.
Of course, life goes on. I wish you lots of strength nonetheless.

My January was a mixed bag—illness, dance afternoons, job interviews—and I’m
starting February on a positive note because I’ve changed jobs, took some time off, and will start my new job next Wednesday (back in nursing).
I’ve already done a trial shift; everything’s calmer and more relaxed, no stress, and my former colleague is starting there too. Great. Things can only get better.

Stay healthy, everyone!
Hugs, Andrea

Busy little elves: do you currently have a difficult pattern?

I don’t have any tricky patterns right now either.

I just finished crocheting this granny square. I only had a picture to go by.
It’s so much fun. Sometimes I have to force myself to take a break. But see for yourselves.

Trending Colors for 2025

I also agree with the previous commenters. They always say, “If you want to keep up with fashion, you’ve got to be quick on your feet”—and at our age, we just can’t keep up.
No, joking aside.

These trend colors and fashion cuts are sometimes awful. I prefer things colorful and bright. I only buy what I like and what suits me. If there’s nothing for me, then I don’t buy anything.

Have you guys noticed, too, that fashion seems to be geared only toward young people? Most of the time, anyway. Tight, crop-top pieces, tops—yes, I like glitter too, but it has to be comfortable and suitable for everyday wear.
And those oversized jackets and the like that look three sizes too big—that’s just not on. Normal shoes that I like are rarely available. Everything has such chunky heels. Who even comes up with something so impractical? It’s supposed to look chic and make money :-(

I think I’ll have to start sewing, too. I can ask Ina and Monika for advice :-)

Have a pleasant rest of the week, everyone
Best wishes, Andrea

What’s your first craft project of the year?

You’ve all finished such great things again. Amazing work.
The sweater by ruthk looks great, too. Brilliant idea with the horizontal stripes, and lengthwise at the sides. It really flatters the figure.
And Ina has sewn another one of those pretty drawstring bags. Not everyone has one of those.
Triangular scarves and socks and gloves. Man, you’ve all been busy.

Of course, everyone else has created masterpieces too. I just didn’t want to list every single person.
I’m always amazed at how varied the projects are, and so pretty. Mine are usually little things.

Have a pleasant rest of the week, everyone, and a fantastic weekend in advance

Love, Andrea

Happy weekend / Ditch Your New Year’s Resolutions Day 2025

Yes, those resolutions you don’t keep anyway, or don’t even want to keep. You only live once—why lose weight when chocolate tastes so good? You want to enjoy life for as long as you can.

All you read in the media is negative stuff: price hikes here, restrictions there. And in the end (at the end of your life), you can’t take anything with you anyway. So what’s the point?

Wishing everyone a woolly weekend
glg Andrea

Are there still small yarn shops around?

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too—they’re becoming fewer and fewer.
Here in the city center, there’s still a small craft store that carries my cotton yarn; I shop there every now and then when I run out of yarn.
Otherwise, I sometimes find something at Rossmann, Action, Tedi, or Woolworth. But I have to search for it—mostly blended yarns, which I don’t like.

I’m still working on projects from my stash. I only go into town when it’s worth it (shopping, visiting residents at the nursing home and colleagues…), since I won’t have a monthly pass anymore starting in January (it’s gotten too expensive, going from 49 euros to 56 euros). So I’ll buy a ticket through the app, or when it gets warmer, I’ll walk (it takes 30 minutes) or ride my bike.

Crafting without patterns / freehand?

I prefer to crochet using a pattern. But for little things like kids’ bags or straight pieces, I just start crocheting. There are plenty of patterns to choose from online.

For figures and dolls, I work better with a pattern.

For mosaic granny squares, I also like to crochet from pictures sometimes—I don’t need a pattern for those. I already know how to do it. You can find plenty of inspiration there.

What’s your first craft project of the year?

It smells deliciously like fresh bread in here.

Wow, Wollefaden, I love your sweater—I’d want to put it on right away; it looks so cozy. Great work.
Veronika, you still have quite a bit planned. By the way, my husband admired the ship in the window (he’s a model builder).

I’m still feeling under the weather; all my abdominal and back muscles ache, and this stupid cough is really getting to me.

Have a great week, everyone!

Happy weekend: How are you all doing? Do you have enough time for crafts?

Thank you so much for your get-well wishes. I hope I’ll be back on my feet soon.

As soon as the holidays were over—I didn’t want any more Christmas decorations—I put everything away right away.
I don’t have that much space anyway.
