Dear Andrea, dear Monika, thank you both so much for your comments and your amazement. That makes me very happy, too.
The gift has since been unwrapped. My friend told me that unwrapping it is always a special treat for her. She always does it very early on her birthday, when everyone is still asleep. Then she makes herself a cup of tea and settles in on the couch with her gifts. No one disturbs her, and she can immerse herself in the wishes, thoughts, and gifts from her well-wishers.
With my gift, she knows that the accompanying greeting card is always a prelude to the gift itself—never a run-of-the-mill card with a pre-printed message. And in this case, she thought the prelude was very nice. After that, she unwrapped her
new, hand-sewn summer bag
, which she also really liked. Handmade things just have a soul, and when you give them away, you’re always giving a little piece of that soul along with them.
Have a wonderful Sunday evening, everyone.
Warm regards, Ina
