Stabilizing shelf sitters

Dear community,
Do you have any tips for stabilizing shelf sitters?

Fill the seat with steel granules. If the edge stool is knitted or crocheted, put the granules in a small bag so they don’t escape through the stitches. 

I always add bird sand as a stabilizer, filled into a small, tightly sealed bag and placed inside; it keeps things stable and secure.

Grout sand or play sand in a small, tightly sealed bag works too—if you don’t mind the rustling sound; otherwise, you’ll just have to use a cotton pouch or something similar. I always wrap the bag in a layer of stuffing because I’ve found that this makes the filling look more even and the figure feels nicer overall.

I tried using decorative pebbles once—it works, too.

Or even cherry pits. I usually use those.

Dried peas or corn—you don’t have to put them in a bag. 

I use small glass stones and decorative glass beads as “weights”… I also use them as filling for tactile play bags (occupational therapy). They’re great because they’re easy to wash, sterilize, etc.
If they’re for toddlers, I make sure to sew them up cleanly and seal them tightly.
