April Projects and March Projects 2023, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Crafting Group.

Thanks, Marlene and Monika.
Your blanket has such beautiful colors. Is that a pattern from here?
Where do you usually buy your pretty gradient yarn cakes?

Have a great weekend / Don’t forget the time change

Here’s to a relaxing, cozy weekend for everyone with all your favorite yarns, plus a cappuccino, coffee, tea, etc.—head to the couch and put your feet up.

That’s what I’ll be doing, too—I have the day off.
And I’ll slowly get used to the time change. I don’t need it.

Weather-wise, things aren’t looking too great here for the next few days—more like wet and cold.

Love, Andrea 😉

Perms are back in style

I used to have a perm, too, but not anymore. All those chemicals just ruin your hair.
I still have a bit of natural wave in my bangs; otherwise, my hair is long and straight, or I curl it with a curling iron or let it dry in wet braids—then I have curls, too, and it doesn’t cost a thing.

Thank you, Monika—yes, the resident was very happy with it.
Now another resident wants a little shoulder bag like that, too.

I’m still working through my leftover yarn.

April Projects and March Projects 2023, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Crafting Group.

Good evening,

I finally have time to check in here again.
I’ve been using up my leftover yarn, and this is what I came up with.

I crocheted this for a resident so she can put her TaTü inside and wear the neck pouch around her neck. She always has everything lying on her lap.

Dear Monika,

Even though it’s late, I’d like to add my best birthday wishes—lots of 🍀 and good health.
Sounds like you had an amazing day, basking in the glorious 🌞 sunshine surrounded by your loved ones.
Stay just the way you are, with all your creative ideas.

Have a great weekend: have the temperatures dropped where you are, too?

My deepest condolences, Veronika.

Thank you, Josefa—I wish everyone else a sunny weekend, too.
It’s pleasantly warm in the sun here today; you could probably already have coffee on the balcony, but the late shift is calling.

However, on Thursday at work (early shift), we were able to have breakfast outside on the terrace for the first time. It was wonderful. A little bit of pure relaxation in the midst of a stressful job.

So today I can put on my light coat—wow, no more winter jacket.

Have a great time, everyone, and let the sun🌞 tickle you.

Love, Andrea

Thank you, Petra. I can totally picture that—exactly—or even as an Easter basket with a handle.

Oh, by the way, that sunset photo—sooooo romantic. An amazing snapshot.

Oh man, I can’t even keep up with reading and admiring everything anymore.

To everyone: The entire “Karl” range of your creations is beautiful, and such a variety of colors. Yellow really stands out, and all the others do too, of course.
That would still be too complicated for me—I envy those of you who can do it.

The little Easter bunny doily and the C2C sheep look so cute.

Unfortunately, I only have time to crochet little things right now (worn out and tired from work).

Monika, the star pattern is called the “Polish Star”—Google it; it’s easy to crochet. You could use this pattern to crochet a little blanket for your dolls. I imagine it would look very pretty.
I’ll try it myself someday too (for the doll’s bed)

Anja, I’m glad your finger is feeling better.

Keep your needles busy, everyone 🧶😉👍☕ G’night

What's on your knitting needles and crochet hooks?

I’m trying out a crochet braiding pattern—it’s a great way to use up leftover yarn.
I’ll post a picture later.

And at the same time, I’m crocheting a little bag (pattern from here). Once it’s finished, I’ll share a photo with you.

Stock up on yarn or reduce your stash?

I’m so glad to hear others are in the same boat—the “yarn problem.”
I don’t have quite as much as some, but my stash still isn’t getting any smaller because there are still a lot of dark colors in there (lots of shades of green, beige, brown, and purple...) that don’t really match my projects.

But that blanket idea—it looks absolutely great. I’m going to use that as inspiration for my leftover yarn.

So if anyone has any light-colored cotton yarn left over (for size 2.5 needles), bring it on! I’d love to take it.

My yarn stash is spread out across 4 fabric boxes and 2 small tote bags. It’s still very organized,

though. Have fun with your yarn 😉🧶

Birthday Party Favors

Hey there,

Angela—it should be something crocheted, right? How about crocheting a little ladybug for each child? You can find a pattern here, and it’s easy to follow.

Ladybug / Lucky Bug “Marie”

I’m not sure how much time you have until it needs to be ready, though.

You could also crochet a little ball for each child—sort of like a little smiley face to attach to their backpack or something similar. Just embroider a face on it.

There are also little fabric pouches with designs to color in, so everyone can decorate their own pouch with bright colors.

Love, Andrea

My First Makeup Bag

Ina, I’m impressed. Your makeup bag looks so great, and the pink zipper goes perfectly with the print.
Whatever you set out to do always turns out so beautifully. You’re inspiring us all with your sewing skills. You’re even giving Inge a run for her money😃

I’ve got plenty of fabric lying around, too (since I hardly ever sew). Maybe someday, when my hands aren’t as good at crocheting anymore.

So keep on crafting, everyone, so we’ll have something new to marvel at.

Best wishes, Andrea

It’s the weekend: Are you going out to take on the world?

Good evening—

yes, I’d love a sunny vacation like that right now, too: sun, beach, and sea. Have a good rest.
The weather here is really lousy, too; unfortunately, I’m working the late shift, but on Sunday I can get back to my favorite pastime: crafts. It’s time to relax.

Ina , I sincerely hope your sister gets better soon. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed for her. Let us all here give you a big virtual hug and a warm embrace.

Warmest regards from me

Good evening

Your Karl projects are wonderful to look at. I’m thrilled. Each color combination is prettier than the last. I envy your perseverance.

Marion: I really like your blue version, too. It already looks interesting pattern-wise.

Petra: Yes, for this bag, each color is crocheted in one row, and at the end of the project, all those chain loops are intertwined, which creates this star pattern.
Maybe I’ll crochet another one.

Best regards, Andrea

Stock up on yarn or reduce your stash?

I’m trying to use up my leftover Bw yarn (there’s only enough left for small projects), but I also bought a large 500g skein—and that’s it, since I still have quite a bit in stock. I just need more time to work through everything, and then I’ll “restock” again.

International Women's Day, Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

I completely agree with you.
Everything is always hyped up to boost sales, but not much is actually being done about the important issues. That’s sad.

We East Germans still remember Women’s Day from the GDR days. Back then, as a woman, you still felt valued among the working population, but today everything has changed. It’s all about profit now, not about people.

But… I was still happy today to receive the little flowers that were being handed out in front of the shopping center.

Best regards, Andrea

I wish you all a restful, peaceful weekend too; relax with your favorite pastime, handicrafts.
For me, it’s back to work until Sunday, then I’ll have 7 days behind me.
I’ll catch up on everything Mon–Wed, including my ENT check-up appointment.

Veronika
, then have a lovely 31st wedding anniversary tomorrow. A glass of sparkling wine sounds great.🥂

Inge, you’ve certainly taken on a lot. Good luck to our sewing queen.✂

Weather-wise, it’s not supposed to be all that great, cold.

Watchlist / Wishlist: How are you getting on with folders for organizing your wishlist patterns?

Hi Josefa,

my watchlist is doing great. It’s getting longer and longer, and this sorting feature keeps it very organized.
I really like using this feature—I just need to sort through the newly added patterns. It’s a great idea.

For me, the “Dolls,” “Animals,” and “Miscellaneous” folders are the most popular.
Actually, I have a little bit of everything. There are just so many great patterns out there.

A Birthday Dress with a Circle Skirt

Yes, Ina really is an all-round talent. Everything she tackles turns out well.🧡
The little dress looks so cute. The little mouse on the front alone is a real eye-catcher, and with a circle skirt too. Little girls love that, when they twirl and the skirt flutters so beautifully.

@steffi, yes, the heart is made of cotton.
I have to use up my leftover dark yarn first so I can buy some nice, lighter-colored yarn again. I’m already looking forward to that.
Maybe I’ll make a heart-shaped granny bag out of it.

The weather here is lousy today, too—rain and gusty winds are in the forecast, and I still have to go out.

Nope, no Carnival—I’ve been working late shifts for the past 5 days, had just one day off yesterday (Friday), and now I’m back to 6 more late shifts. It’s really draining :-)

Good morning, everyone,

Thank you so much to the two Anjas and Ines for the idea.
It’ll just be a small doily, though—I still have enough scraps for that. Or maybe a small pillowcase; we’ll see.

I actually just wanted to try out this heart-bobble pattern, and it worked—and the 🧡 is recognizable.

I hope you all get some good rest; I have to head to my late shift soon 🙁

February Projects 2023, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Crafting Group

Oh dear, Steffi, hope you feel better soon. We’re thinking of you. A forced break is always a bummer. I know how that feels.

Marion, your blanket looks great. So colorful and neatly sewn (knitted) together. How do I picture the knitting technique for these squares? Do you knit them like a triangular shawl, then decrease from the middle of the square until the end, or how?
I’m more of a casual knitter. But I’m definitely tempted to try knitting a blanket sometime. Someday, once my crochet projects are finished.

Monika, you’ve really taken on a lot there. But with how fast you knit, you’ll need a quick restock *hihi* I’m curious.
What kind of yarn works best with a 2.5–3.0 mm needle?

Best regards
Andrea

Rug Knotting

Wow, Ina and Ruth, you really do have some true treasures there, and such amazing designs. I love roses.
If you didn’t know better, you’d think they were store-bought—they’re that pretty.
Cherish your rugs and hold on to those memories.

No, I didn’t do any rug knotting back then. But my grandpa did—just a small wall hanging—and I watched him do it once. It wasn’t for me.

Hardworking little helpers: Are you imaginative, creative, and hardworking today?

Hi there, you lovely yarn lovers!

Every now and then I crochet little mini crochet bags as decorations for my doll or something like that (using up leftover yarn), and I’m trying my hand at a crochet mosaic piece.

Question for Inge: I like your triangular knitted shawl. I’m more or less just a casual knitter. How do you get that neat, straight edge ? Mine never looks quite as nice. I knit normally—not too tight and not too loose.
I tried making something similar to what you have there once, but I don’t remember how I did the edge.
When do you slip the stitch, and when do you crochet it at the end?

Veronika, your temperature blanket looks great already in terms of color. It reminds me of spring.
