My avatar still shows me with a perm, but in real life my hair is back to being as straight as a ruler, and I’ve just let it grow out, so now it’s quite a bit longer. I can’t bring myself to settle on a “real” hairstyle—I don’t like any of them.
And no, I’m not getting a perm again either.
I really should go to the salon again—but I’m going to keep my hair straight.
I usually don’t like trends until they’re already out of style anyway.
Maybe I’ll get a perm in 5 years 😊
Good morning!
Perms seem to be especially trendy right now among teens, and particularly among boys. At least, that’s what I’m seeing around here and hearing from my 14-year-old (“Why can’t I get one?”—“Um… 1. No, and 2. You have natural curls…” 😂) and his older sister.
I usually find perms really creepy. For me, it’s also one of those “Well, my grandmas had them” things.
I’d totally love to have curls, but I still wouldn’t get a perm.
I used to have a perm, too, but not anymore. All those chemicals just ruin your hair.
I still have a bit of natural wave in my bangs; otherwise, my hair is long and straight, or I curl it with a curling iron or let it dry in wet braids—then I have curls, too, and it doesn’t cost a thing.
I used to have perms, too, because my hair is really difficult to manage: very fine, straight as a board, and it used to get oily quickly. Well, it hasn’t gotten any thicker, and now that I’m older, it’s thinner. My hairstylist really tries her best, but even the best haircut has a hard time taming these stubborn curls. Despite all that: perms are no longer an option for me, no matter how trendy they may be!
