I’ve just packed my suitcase, and tomorrow I’m off to the Canary Islands.
The weather forecast there predicts temperatures between 24 and 27 degrees. That’s just right for a cold-sensitive person like me. All of this without any men, just the three of us friends. Relaxation and exploring in equal measure.
I’m looking forward to it.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend and warm regards
Petra
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Since it’s supposed to be pretty windy, I’ll be watching the birds from my window.
Other than that, I’ll be doing a little knitting and crocheting.
I’d also like to wish everyone a wonderful weekend, and Petra, I hope you have a relaxing vacation.
As for me, I’m cutting out fabric—I’ve just cut out a culotte skirt from petrol-colored jersey—and I’m cutting out a Strandläufer bag (a bag from Farbenmix); I already have this in countless versions, but this time I’m making it from denim, a scrap from my pants, and I’ll line it with the leftover fabric from a blouse :-) Then there’s some viscose jersey lying around—that’s going to be a top—so I’ll be pretty busy over the weekend. I’ve already baked my cake, too—this time a cheesecake. I added a fresh orange to the cheese filling; I’ll post a picture later :-)
For me, joy and sorrow are very close together this weekend.
Tomorrow we’re invited to our granddaughter Lisann’s first birthday party. That’s actually a reason to be happy, and I’ve sewn those lovely little dresses for her too.
But my heart is grieving. My sister has been in the hospital for a week and has already received three blood transfusions. Now the doctors have discovered a tumor in her stomach. They want to operate on it today. Everything else is still up in the air. I’m very sad because I simply can’t imagine that my sister could get cancer and that she might perhaps not live to be older than I am. I would find it easier to accept for myself than for her, because she is so close to me.
I wish everyone else a lovely weekend. Just enjoy the fact that you’re doing well!
Hope your sister feels better soon!
Have a great vacation, and to everyone else, have a wonderful weekend!
We’re having guests over today; we decided at the last minute to have raclette/hot stone again, even though it’s getting a bit warmer here now. The table is set, everything’s ready, and now I have a little time to spare.
Other than that, nothing’s planned—Cologne is getting drenched; it’s raining almost nonstop. And today it’s also very windy, which makes it really unpleasant. So we’ll be reading, crocheting, watching a movie or two—just taking it easy.
Yeah… I’m heading into the woods… looking for fallen branches… taking them home and cutting them up 🪵
Firewood…—nothing’s growing in the undergrowth yet, so this works out great… I’m happy when I’ve gathered enough firewood for a week… then the forest looks great again too… 🌳
Hi Ina, I can really relate to your pain because a sister is someone very close to you.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everything turns out well for your sister.
Here’s a lovely saying for you:
* Sisters are never alone; they always carry each other in their hearts**
All the best to you and your sister
Get well soon and all the best to your sister, Ina. I hope everything goes well for you.
Petra, I hope you have a wonderful vacation in the warmth.
Everyone else here, have a lovely weekend.
Here in Waltrop it is very stormy and there is sleet. And the weekend isn't supposed to get any better either. So plenty of time for knitting and crocheting.
Best regards
Marina
Petra, I wish you a wonderful vacation, too. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
Dear Ina, I wish you lots of strength and hope that everything turns out well for your sister in the end. I can really relate to your grief and compassion.
We’re spending the weekend with friends—it’s always nice. Other than that, some crafting is on the agenda.
I wish everyone here a peaceful and relaxing weekend, including the entire CP team.
Petra, that vacation sounds great. Have fun.
The weather here is supposed to be pretty miserable, so we’ll just take it as it comes…
Ina, my sister is in rehab right now; she’d already had chemo and her surgery.
It’s just a really tough time, and the aftereffects are no joke… but the chances of a good life afterward aren’t actually that bad these days.
If she does end up getting a cancer diagnosis, you can make things a lot easier for her by taking over the tasks she finds difficult.
It helped me not to have to just stand by helplessly.
All the best to you both.
I wish everyone else a wonderfully relaxing weekend.
yes, I’d love a sunny vacation like that right now, too: sun, beach, and sea. Have a good rest.
The weather here is really lousy, too; unfortunately, I’m working the late shift, but on Sunday I can get back to my favorite pastime: crafts. It’s time to relax.
Ina
, I sincerely hope your sister gets better soon. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed for her. Let us all here give you a big virtual hug and a warm embrace.
A community has formed here in our town—we’re managing a permaculture field together and taking care of two donkeys from an emergency rescue. Today, my daughter and I are on care duty for the two cuties, and tomorrow everyone from the community is getting together for brunch. Other than that, I’ll be doing a little exercise (time to shed that winter weight) and continuing to work on translating a pattern. Oh, and then I’ll drive out to visit my mom.
@ Dear Ina, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you lots of strength, confidence, and all the very best. From my own experience (my mom had breast cancer twice—at 50 and at 80), I can tell you: even if things look really bleak and the prognosis is poor, that doesn’t mean anything. Each time, the doctors gave my mother little to no hope, yet she came through it all just fine (even undergoing chemo at 80) and will turn 87 this year. So confidence and the belief that everything will be all right again are so important—they give you strength, and your sister will feel that strength, too. All my love to you and your sister.
I wish you all a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
Best wishes,
Elke
