Oh, you’re right about the crocuses, Claudia. We’ve got a few of them here and there in our gardens, too. With this never-ending summer we’re having, it’s actually no surprise. In Mediterranean countries, there’s also a second bloom after a break.
As of today, fall has finally caught up with us. It feels really strange with temperatures at 12 degrees...

Oh, that’s too bad, Inge. I have to be careful, too—I’m just like you in that regard if I don’t stick to just a few pieces. It’s been that way for me ever since I was a kid.

Wow, that’s such a great idea for anyone who loves chocolate. I can’t even imagine not liking chocolate. Inge, you’re one of those very rare exceptions. ;-)

Oh, Susanne, I can totally imagine how excited you are. The anticipation is building here, of course...

Wow, you’ve had some special experiences, too. If you still can, please share some photos of them. Hydrangeas blooming again are something special, too. And a magnolia blossom—wow, Petra. That’s just as extraordinary as the apple blossom.

Why not take a look around in nature or in your gardens? Maybe you’ll discover a thing or two there, too.

By the way, our butterfly bush is really starting to bloom again now, too. We were actually planning to prune it because almost all the flowers had faded. But it really pulled out all the stops. It’s definitely nice for the bees. Now we’re waiting to prune it until these flowers have faded as well.

Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 22 degrees here again. But on Sunday, the temperature will drop.

We sat on the balcony by candlelight tonight—until just now. Warm and summery-romantic. :)

It’s still summer here—until tomorrow. Then it’ll feel very autumnal, just right for snuggling up with yarn and needles.

Marlies, we only wear a cardigan in the morning; otherwise, it’s just a T-shirt. It’s 25 degrees today, so it’s time to head back out to the balcony. We’ve even had dinner on the balcony the last few days.

Yeah, Steffi, the Spatz family—I just had to laugh, because they’re actually courting right here at our place. Well, in two days they’ll realize it’s getting too chilly for their little ones. Because on Sunday, the temperature here will drop from 22 degrees on Saturday down to 11 degrees. Brrrr....

Today I was still enjoying the balcony and garden. Somehow, I still can’t quite imagine going outside in warm clothes.

Yes, Veronika. And we haven’t had any rain here in a very long time. Everything is completely dry.

Hey everyone, just imagine what I discovered today, October 12, 2023. This is really something special.

Our apple tree has a new shoot that’s covered in blossoms! We’ve never seen anything like this in the fall before! And it’s the only shoot with blossoms on the tree.

I just have to show you this:





I should also mention that we’ve had summer weather so far, and it just won’t let up. Normal fall weather won’t start here for another two days.

Maybe you’ll spot some of these “spring-like” signs on your own trees or plants, too. If so, feel free to share a photo of them.

On September 28, the package was with Bastelfan (Andrea). It moved on from there on October 3.

On October 8, matap (Martina) wrote that she had the package. It had already been on the way to her for quite a long time. So it should have moved on again on October 10. Theoretically, if the postal service is quick for once, it could even arrive at sannischm today.

That way we all have an up-to-date status of the list and know how things are going with the package.

sanniischm would be the next stop, if I’ve read this correctly. So far, the package has been traveling pretty quickly... It would be great if sanniischm could let us know here once she receives it.

This cute baby jacket with the matching hat looks simply adorable, and it’s fun to knit this pattern. You won’t get bored while working on it. It even fit my granddaughter from 3 months all the way up to one year. It’s knitted with 6-ply sock yarn.

To keep a little teddy bear (20–25 cm) nice and warm, why not crochet this cute jacket for him? Made easily from leftover yarn, it’s quick to finish and will delight teddy bear lovers of all ages. Of course, the jacket also fits dolls of this size.

These pants made from sock yarn can be knitted for toddlers ages 1 and up. They’ll fit up to approximately size 92, as they grow with the child. The side cable pattern on the legs looks especially pretty.

The pants have suspenders and a perfect fit. This way, nothing slips down, and the body stays nice and warm all over.

Scraps are often enough for doll clothes. This mini sleeping bag for dolls or stuffed animals up to 20 cm is a great way to use up leftover yarn. The little ones will be much more eager to go to bed when their favorite toy is already waiting for them in the sleeping bag.

Yeah, you know, a model train layout like that requires space to set it up. And if everything’s just packed away somewhere, it doesn’t make any sense. Well, Andrea, those three yarn booths would have been more than enough for me. ;-)
My husband sold his entire model train set because we didn’t have enough space. But it was interesting, too.

Oh Andrea, I’m a little jealous of you. I’d really love to check out a fair like that and see what’s out there. It really warms your heart to see the treasures you brought home. That Ferner wool—it’s a dream! I wouldn’t have been able to resist it either.

Oh Andrea, I would have been happy about that too. Especially the package with the 10 colorful skeins—I could have really used that. And I would have kept the yarn cake as well.

Knowing you, you’ll work your magic and create beautiful crocheted items from it. I’m really excited to see what you’ll make, especially with the colorful yarn.

Yeah, I know what you mean—the postal service really roughs up the packages. We often get packages from the mail that are damaged. In general, the postal service here is anything but reliable. We haven’t had that problem with Hermes so far.

I’m sure someone will donate a big box where the yarn can find a new home.

Andrea, have fun unpacking and picking out your favorites.

I love trying out different stitch combinations and playing with multiple colors. This has led to some fantastic new patterns that I would never have come up with on my own.

I especially enjoy trying this out with doll clothes. These little projects are quick to finish and so much fun.

You can also create special patterns using knit and purl stitches, like with my peace dove on a shawl. I’ve given this shawl as a gift several times, and everyone has been very happy to receive it. It’s also well-received as a gesture of peace.

I also really enjoy knitting lace and cable patterns—it never gets boring.
