Crocheting with several colors at the same time is a challenge for many beginners. But it’s really not that hard. If you already have a little experience with crochet, you can definitely try your hand at multicolored designs.

For the
Mouse in a Balloon, the balloon is crocheted in 3 colors (here: mint, gray, natural white). The strands of the colors not being used are carried along and crocheted over (tapestry technique). It’s important to have the right yarn tension: not too tight, so the piece doesn’t pull in too much, and not too loose, so the carried strands don’t show through. But with a little practice, it works quite well. Since the balloon cover is crocheted around a Styrofoam ball, the round shape is maintained even with small irregularities.
The mouse looks great as a decoration in a window or under a ceiling lamp.

For the
gift bag with crocheted-in heart pattern, the same technique is used with 2 colors. Here, the distances between color changes are shorter, so there aren’t such long strands to crochet over. This makes it easier to maintain the yarn tension. However, you do have to count more for this one. There is a chart for the pattern, but it is also written out in detail stitch by stitch.
With a diameter of about 9 cm and a height of 20 cm, the gift bag has the ideal dimensions for many gifts, including wine and sparkling wine bottles, for example.

This
potholder with bat motif is a fitting little hostess gift if you’re invited to a Halloween party. Here, too, you can work the pattern from a chart or crochet row by row from the text. To avoid floats on the inside, the strands of the unused color are carried along here as well and crocheted over right away.
