I also really like patterns where I only have to knit and purl stitches. That’s easy to do on the side once you’ve gotten started.
But lace patterns can be really exciting, too. It’s fascinating to see the pattern emerge more clearly with each new row, just by yarn overs and knitting stitches together.
Dear Josefa, I actually like just about every pattern. I could spend hours with my pattern books, combining different patterns and testing them out.
I really like cable patterns, too. You can see that in my hat patterns.
Generally, I enjoy knitting patterns that alternate knit and purl stitches, lace patterns, crossed stitches, color changes, and so on. It keeps me entertained because I always want to knit just one more row, and my project grows faster that way.
But in my patterns, you’ll also find projects using only knit stitches—ones that aren’t too challenging and that even beginners can feel comfortable trying.
You can add interest to those as well with shortened rows, color changes, and so on.
I love trying out different stitch combinations and playing with multiple colors. This has led to some fantastic new patterns that I would never have come up with on my own.
I especially enjoy trying this out with doll clothes. These little projects are quick to finish and so much fun.
You can also create special patterns using knit and purl stitches, like with my peace dove on a shawl. I’ve given this shawl as a gift several times, and everyone has been very happy to receive it. It’s also well-received as a gesture of peace.
I also really enjoy knitting lace and cable patterns—it never gets boring.
I was recently searching for new topics on Google and came across a book titled something like “1,000 New Knitting Patterns.” That’s when I thought of you all. I’m sure you would have enjoyed it.
Hi,
my favorites are knit and purl stitches—they’re just so relaxing to knit—and yarn where the color gradient or pattern comes from the skein itself.
I really need to try cable stitches again—I used to enjoy them, and now they’re coming back into style 😚
Lace patterns are always tricky for me; I often need a lifeline (I’ve had to rip them out many times). Lace patterns don’t forgive mistakes 🙁
So ajour with lace wouldn’t be for me 😉
