Toys + Dolls / Doll Accessories: Shop Now

I’ve already knitted clothing for other sizes too—maybe there’s something for you as well. That way the teddy bears won’t have to be cold either. As a rule, all models are easy to knit if you have knitting experience. You can find detailed information about the individual models via the respective links.

Petra, your fabric pouch looks pretty and is even versatile. Great idea, by the way, to use it for UFOs. Luckily, I only have one that’s slowly coming together.

Wow, Marlene, that looks absolutely gorgeous. Will the bottom part be lace or a border? I really like the color gradient and the colors themselves. And your doily is beautiful, too. That takes a lot of patience, and you certainly have plenty of that.

As for me, I’m making progress bit by bit on my three projects. Right now, they’re all UFOs—unfinished objects. As soon as I finish something, I’ll post a photo.

Christmas Gifts for Children 2020

For toddlers ages 1 and up, warm clothing is always a great gift. These leggings made from sock yarn won’t slip down because they have straps. They also grow with the child—simply fold up the cuffs and unfold them later. Plus, the straps are adjustable. A narrow cable pattern is incorporated along the sides. Recommended for experienced knitters.

Warm leggings made from sock yarn are just the right clothing for toddlers right now. They’re comfortable, move with every movement, and will even fit for at least 2 years (ages 3–5). Easy to knit if you have some knitting experience.

This little pinafore dress with knitted-in hearts also grows with your child. It fits babies from 6 months and even toddlers up to 3 years old. Easy to make and seam-free.

Toddlers love colorful things. This children’s jacket combines even more of their favorite features. It has a hood and pockets, which little ones love for stowing away their treasures. The jacket fits from about 2.5 to 4.5 years. It’s knitted using the top-down raglan method. For experienced knitters, this is a lovely project that’s a joy to make.

Babies and toddlers usually don’t like it very much when clothes are pulled over their heads. My granddaughter felt the same way. So I came up with this hat. It keeps both the head and neck warm and can be easily buttoned and unbuttoned at the front. Easy to make, even for beginners with some knitting experience.

These leggings can also be knitted with sock yarn. Here, I chose a warm natural fiber blend of merino and alpaca. The leggings fit children from about 1.5 to 3 years old.

This cute little baby dress fit my granddaughter at 6 months and still fit her at 2 years old. It’s very easy to make and looks simply adorable when worn. Even beginners with some knitting experience can give this a try and achieve a beautiful result.

Leftover yarn / fabric scraps / paper scraps / cardboard scraps: Great and Affordable Crafts

Doll clothes can always be knitted very well from leftover yarn. This cute outfit fits dolls that are about 45–50 cm tall, as well as small newborn babies. The sweater is knitted using the RVO method, which is explained in detail in the pattern. If you already have knitting experience, it’s all very easy.
As the example from my test knitter shows, there are no limits to your imagination when it comes to both color and shape.

This outfit set for little doll girls is also perfect for using up leftover yarn. It looks pretty in any color combination. Easy to knit, even for beginners with some knitting experience.

For toddlers with a play shop, this shopping bag is just the thing. When you give it as a gift, it even comes with a supply of lemons and carrots. Very easy to make, even for crochet beginners with basic skills.

Picking up stitches from the I-cord...

That really does sound complicated...
Maybe you can find videos about it online if you enter it in a search engine.
Unfortunately, I can’t think of anything else right now. ;-)

@bergli
I’m also absolutely thrilled for you about your third grandchild. And I wish you lots of joy with Klemens and hope you get to have him with you often. It’s such a precious time when they’re still babies. Unfortunately, it goes by so quickly. Knitting for babies is the most fun, after all. I’m sure you’ll come up with plenty of ideas.

A warm welcome, dear Marion, to our craft group! It’s great to have you here.
You’ll definitely show us your rug when it’s finished, right? I’m already curious to see what it looks like. By the way, your coffee pots look great.

Things have turned out quite funny for me with my new projects. My sweater is coming along slowly right now because I just felt like knitting something smaller again. So I (actually) started knitting socks for my friend. And now that the first one is almost done, I realize they’d be way too big for her. So now my husband gets to look forward to some new socks.

And—actually—I’d planned to design a sweater for little Juna. When I was going through my yarn stash yesterday, I spotted two balls of acrylic yarn—red and yellow. I’m going to use them to make cute outfits for my bears. The colors just suit them perfectly. So, doll clothes again… one of my favorite projects.

Once the socks for my husband are finished, I’ll move on to the ones for my friend. So I still have quite a bit planned for this month.

Wishing you all a wonderful rest of the evening and a creative week.

Warm regards
Monika

Picking up stitches from the I-cord...

Stephanie, I’m familiar with the I-cord as a finishing touch, but not (yet) as a starting point.

What exactly do you mean by “easily” picking up stitches?
Do you have a pattern by a designer you can ask? That would, of course, be the easiest solution.

Maybe someone here can still help you and knows exactly what you mean.

Best regards, Monika

November Projects Part 2: the Crazypatterns Crafting Group

Yeah, Christina, that’s probably how I’m feeling right now about my sweater. Since I chose a pattern that uses up quite a bit of yarn, I can already see that I’ll have to incorporate a different yarn into the sleeves, otherwise I won’t have enough. But for me, it’s a fun challenge to find something suitable in my stash and then figure out how to combine it. I’m already curious to see how it turns out.

Sometimes I don’t have the right colors for the projects I want to make. When that happens, I just start something else for now.

Marlene, I admire your patience and dexterity. It already looks so pretty. I’m really looking forward to seeing the final result.

Ruth, you’ve created something absolutely enchanting again. Your angels are so pretty and cute. I think I’d hang them up all year round, not just for Christmas.

Ina, ooooh wow! I love this yarn, and I don’t think I could have resisted it. It’s almost like winning the lottery—a whole boxful. This blend is simply a dream. As far as I know, I used it to knit the first pair of leggings for Linja. Luckily, I still have quite a bit left in my stash, so I could easily keep up my yarn diet for another year. Let’s see how long I can make it. My goal is definitely to keep it up until next spring. And I have to say, I’m already really proud that I’ve managed to stick with it this long. In December, it will make a full year.

Decor, Functional Items, Useful Items: November 2020 Highlights

There are so many useful things that are also decorative at the same time. Here I’ll show you a few things that I use myself and have often given as gifts. Most of them were requests people made to me, which I then brought to life.

For example, this little pouch for 10 tissues. It can even sit decoratively on the table and fits in any handbag. Easy to crochet from leftover yarn.

A pretty decoration that can find a place in any room is this cover for a tissue box. I’ve given it as a gift several times already, always in the desired colors. It’s very quick and easy to crochet. Leftover yarn can be used here, too.

A poinsettia needs a pretty pot to really show it off. How about crocheting this pot yourself? It’s very easy, and the size can also be adjusted to fit the pot.

When it comes to decor, potholders or oven mitts are an absolute must. Here you can crochet a pretty splash of color for the kitchen, because these lucky ladybugs are sure to make everyone happy. A lovely project for beginners, too.

You can crochet this colorful spring meadow now so that it brings anticipation for the coming spring at the start of the year. It consists of various egg cozies and egg cups, placemats, coasters, and scatter decorations.

Decor, Functional Items, Useful Items: November 2020 Highlights

The most fun is crocheting something functional and useful for children. Here are a few ideas from me that you can give as Christmas gifts.

Children love bags of every kind. This one fits perfectly on any tricycle, Puky, or balance bike. It has a double bottom and is crocheted to be quite sturdy. Recommended for advanced crocheters.

This little bear doesn’t just hang on the door as decoration. It has an important, useful job. It keeps interruptions away from the person in the room. Great for working from home, but also useful on the bathroom or toilet door. Especially popular with children.

If you prefer owls, there is also a pattern for a door-guard owl. A great stash-busting project, by the way.

Wow, I can’t even keep up here anymore. You’re all so hard-working!!

Petra, your scarf has a beautiful pattern. I love patterned designs and always enjoy looking at them.

Yes, Ina, I actually cast on stitches for socks again today. My friend is getting them for Christmas. She only wears hand-knitted socks in the winter. At least that way I know she’ll be happy with them. She’s already fulfilled so many of my wishes—I’d have to knit mountains of socks to repay her. It’s nice that friends like that still exist.
I’m also excited to see your new project.

Now I know what a “math mouse” is, too. What a great idea.

FALL 2020: Review & Win 10 x €10 in Shopping Store Credit

Yes, as an author, I can confirm what Jana wrote. I, too, always take it to heart when I receive feedback that something isn’t quite right or could be improved. And I’m happy when people message me directly before leaving a review. That way, we can discuss it in much more detail. This has already allowed me to improve a few patterns, which benefits all users.

You shouldn’t generalize from one experience with an author to all of them—I agree with that as well.

What kind of yarn should I use for warm winter socks?

Yes, I also look for a high wool content in socks. I’ve used pure virgin wool several times now and notice that the socks are very durable and stay clean for a long time.

All my wool socks can go in the washing machine, but only on the wool cycle and with shampoo.

Oh, how nice, Ines, to see you in a photo for a change. Even if it’s just from the side. You’re so incredibly hardworking. With the anticipation of how beautiful it’ll turn out, everything goes much more smoothly and is even fun.

I used to be one of those people who hated knitting socks, too—until I figured out my own heel technique. Since then, I’ve really enjoyed it. That’s why my fingers are itching to get started. Now I’m using up little scraps to knit little socks for my little star, my doll. She’s always got cold feet. ;-)

Thanks, Malene, for the explanation. I don’t think that would necessarily be my thing. But it’s nice to see all the different options out there.

Ines, your little pig looks really funny and is perfect for New Year’s Eve or other celebrations. After all, everyone could use a little luck. :)

Bergli, you’ve been busy—those jackets turned out beautifully. Thanks for sharing. Are they knitted from sock yarn?

Ruth, your napkin baskets look lovely—a great idea. But you make so much more than what you’re showing us here. I just saw your vest and jacket for the dress-up dolls. Wow, really nice outfits for little guys. ;-) I admire you for all the tiny things you’re always crocheting. To be honest, that’s too fiddly for me.

Marlene, what is Bruges crochet? That looks interesting. This is the first time I’ve heard of it.

As soon as I have some time, I’ll look into double-face knitting. I’ve been meaning to do that for a long time. You can learn it now at a-mano—for free.

Sonja has some really beautiful double-face patterns, and I’m really tempted to try it.

Plus, I’m in the mood to knit socks again. I just need a quick second project alongside my sweater.

Have a great day, everyone! I’m going to sit down and start writing my patterns now.

Christmas Magic 2020

How about decorating your Christmas tree or a fir branch this year with handmade crocheted ornaments? I did that last year and my family was delighted and amazed. It looks great and is very easy to make, even for crochet beginners. You can choose the colors to suit your own taste.

A great project for using up leftover yarn. The garlands also work wonderfully as gift wrapping.
The pattern includes various garlands as well as stars that can be used in many different ways.

To the crochet pattern

During the Christmas season, giving potted poinsettias as gifts is very popular. You can make this gift even more personal by wrapping the flower pot in a hand-crocheted cover.

Also very easy to make for beginners with the skills mentioned. The pattern also includes the stars (appliqué), which also look pretty as tree ornaments.

If you’re only looking for scattered stars, you can also get the pattern separately in my shop. A great project for using up leftover yarn and a nice idea for gift tags, too.

November Projects + October Projects Part 2: the Crazypatterns Craft Group

Oh dear, Ines, renovations really are hard work. But it’s definitely worth it, because you’ll enjoy the results for a long time once it looks nicer than before.

Ina, the pink shoes look perfect now with the tulle—they kind of suit a dancer. Definitely the ultimate girly color.

I got a lot done in the garden today and ran into our hedgehog again. It’s just too warm for him to sleep at 20 degrees. But he surely found some earthworms. They were crawling out of the ground over here when I was planting flower bulbs.

In the evening, my sweater keeps growing, stripe by stripe. Just 10 cm more, and I’ll reach the underarm and can split the pattern. It’ll be 45 cm long then. I really like it when sweaters have a certain length. Here’s what it looks like now. I’ve included a second photo so you can see the pattern better.

But I have to admit, the sweater on its own is a bit boring to me. That’s why I’m already thinking about my next project. It’ll most likely be a raglan sweater. I just don’t know yet whether it’ll be for Juna or for Linja. It depends on the yarn. I still have quite a bit in stock that I can use for it.

And once my sweater—that mammoth project—is finished, I’ll need something else to knit on the side—something that uses up a fair amount of yarn. So I’ve been thinking about knitting chair covers. I still need to come up with a design idea, though. As you can see, it never gets boring.

How are you kicking off November?

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. I’m also back to designing a new sweater for my granddaughter. And since I want to knit it using RVO, that means doing some math again... I’m really looking forward to getting started on it.

On the side, I’m continuing to work on my UFO—the sweater for myself.

Leo, the son of Krea_Tina, is celebrating his birthday

Oh Tina, Leo is such a sweetie! He’s already a little charmer. And he’s clearly eating his birthday cake with gusto and joy. Yes, the little ones grow up so fast—way too fast. I really enjoyed that time back then with my son. Now my youngest granddaughter is already almost 1.5 years old. Her parents take turns caring for her, which is definitely good for her.

Enjoy this time—it’s so precious.

November Projects + October Projects Part 2: the Crazypatterns Craft Group

Yeah, there’s something to be said for a scrap loop like that, Ina. You can always use one. I also like projects that I can knit on the side. That’s my UFO sweater right now. It does have a pattern, but there are always simple rows in between.

Today we tidied up the garden and got it ready for winter. We pruned the raspberries—12 m—and did quite a bit more. My husband did all the hard work, though. Then we went for an autumn walk and marveled at the colorful leaves still hanging on the trees. The weather was like spring—really lovely. What I enjoyed most of all was being outside for hours again and soaking up the sun.

Tomorrow will be another day spent indoors, and the day after tomorrow we’ll head back out to the garden to finish up the rest.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and make yourselves comfortable.
