It’s getting cold outside, so we’re making ourselves cozy indoors again. How about some hand-crocheted teapot coasters—they also make lovely little gifts for cozy moments, not just over tea :-)

The most fun is crocheting something functional and useful for children. Here are a few ideas from me that you can give as Christmas gifts.

Children love bags of every kind. This one fits perfectly on any tricycle, Puky, or balance bike. It has a double bottom and is crocheted to be quite sturdy. Recommended for advanced crocheters.

Children love this bag too. It has an adjustable strap and can also go along to kindergarten. This bag also has a double bottom

This little bear doesn’t just hang on the door as decoration. It has an important, useful job. It keeps interruptions away from the person in the room. Great for working from home, but also useful on the bathroom or toilet door. Especially popular with children.

If you prefer owls, there is also a pattern for a door-guard owl. A great stash-busting project, by the way.

There are so many useful things that are also decorative at the same time. Here I’ll show you a few things that I use myself and have often given as gifts. Most of them were requests people made to me, which I then brought to life.

For example, this little pouch for 10 tissues. It can even sit decoratively on the table and fits in any handbag. Easy to crochet from leftover yarn.

A pretty decoration that can find a place in any room is this cover for a tissue box. I’ve given it as a gift several times already, always in the desired colors. It’s very quick and easy to crochet. Leftover yarn can be used here, too.

A poinsettia needs a pretty pot to really show it off. How about crocheting this pot yourself? It’s very easy, and the size can also be adjusted to fit the pot.

When it comes to decor, potholders or oven mitts are an absolute must. Here you can crochet a pretty splash of color for the kitchen, because these lucky ladybugs are sure to make everyone happy. A lovely project for beginners, too.

You can crochet this colorful spring meadow now so that it brings anticipation for the coming spring at the start of the year. It consists of various egg cozies and egg cups, placemats, coasters, and scatter decorations.

For a cozy tea time for two: These placemats show the motto right away: "Tea for 2"! Thanks to the filet crochet technique, which uses only chain stitches and double crochet stitches, the sets are quick to finish. Crochet them in colors that match your living room decor, and you'll have a decorative and practical table accessory.
There is a chart for the pattern that you can work from. In addition, every row is also written out.
Here is the crochet pattern for the "Tea for 2" placemat.

To match, you can crochet a few hearts. The "Heart in a Heart"  can be used on the table as a coaster or cutlery holder. If you crochet it in the same colors as the placemat, it matches perfectly.
Here is the crochet pattern for the "Heart in a Heart":

Wreaths are a lovely decoration for your apartment door and can be varied depending on the season. Most of the time, you can use leftover yarn for crocheting and put even small amounts to good use.
Here are a fewdoor wreaths from my shop that fit the season well:

The Autumn Door Wreath with its bright colors, leaves, pumpkin, and mushrooms captures the autumn mood perfectly. It is only 12 cm in size, but it can also be made as a larger wreath. Then you just need to crochet a few more leaves and mushrooms.

During Advent and Christmas, this little moose greets my visitors at the apartment door. The mini door wreath has a diameter of only 12 cm and is crocheted around with a bit of leftover sock yarn in Christmas colors. A few leftovers are enough for the moose, too.
This way to the crochet pattern for the Mini Door Wreath with Moose.

Autumn and winter are also the time when the fairy-tale books come out again. The fairy tale of Star Money is depicted on this door wreath, making it especially suitable for decorating a child’s bedroom door.

Crochet pattern for a cover

Individual flowers are crocheted and joined together right on the last round. This way, you can see how the shape develops as you crochet. The size and shape can be customized. Round, oval, large, or small.

How about a new phone case?

Individual granny squares are crocheted, then we sew them together and crochet around them. This is a great way to use up your leftover yarn.

Decorative and functional, these double-face knitted potholders "Flamingo Love" are a wonderful eye-catcher in your kitchen if you knit them in matching colors. And useful on top of that! Double knitting makes them extra dense.

Knitting pattern for the potholders "Flamingo Love"

This bright and colorful bread basket "Breakfast for You" will brighten up the breakfast table in a single-person household. It instantly puts you in a good mood! The basket base is crocheted, and the pattern is knitted in double face. The pattern includes a chart for classic double-face knitting, plus an additional chart for "advanced" double-face knitting, so the lettering can be read the right way up on both sides.

A handmade gym bag is a wonderful gift for any child! In my shop, you’ll find two different models to choose from: the "Schulkind" version with two different motifs for girls and boys, as well as the glitter version "Life is magic" with a unicorn. For both, the base is crocheted in single crochet stitches, and the rest is knitted in double face.

This dishcloth "Happy Dog" is a fun beginner project for double-face knitting. Of course, it also makes a great gift for dog lovers :-)

Very practical for the very little ones is this cuddly cloth "Elo Elefant", which you can also use as a washcloth. It is snuggly soft and is sure to become a loyal companion! It is knitted in double face, so both sides look equally pretty. At the end, the cloth is lovingly edged with crocheted hearts.

The Most Practical Potholder There Is / 2nd Edition

Crochet a potholder in a different way
Most of the time you need two potholders to carry a pot or pour off the water. Then the corners hang down and get wet. Well, this one is different. This size is enough for an average pot, reaches from handle to handle, and also holds the lid in place.
It also looks fun, adding a cheerful splash of color to the kitchen in bright, playful colors, or looking stylish in a country-style kitchen in soft colors.
Material:
  • Cotton yarn or potholder yarn
  • Crochet hook size 3–3.5 mm
  • Scissors, needle
Requirements:
  • Chain stitches and single crochet

The angel wings are quick and easy to crochet and can be used in many ways for decoration:
For example, as an ornament on the Christmas tree or on gifts, on a car key or rearview mirror, on an Advent wreath, or as part of your table decor:

The angel wings are, of course, a lovely decoration during the Christmas season—and they are also a loving symbol of protection and a beautiful gift all year round for someone you’d like to send off with a guardian angel by their side.
