At an outdoor barbecue party in the garden, it can happen that you lose track of time. Suddenly it’s night, it gets chilly, and you need something warm to snuggle into. Of course, you can also pour something warming into your mouth, but experience shows that won’t protect you from catching a cold. A shawl will.

Here is the pattern for it.




This is a rectangular stole that is knitted lengthwise. It has a pretty lace and cable pattern. Basically, you can use any yarn you like for it. The pattern is written out and also shown in knitting charts.

It’ll soon be that time of year again for mushroom hunting. Chanterelles (called Pfifferlinge in northern Germany), porcini, parasol mushrooms—the forest offers many delights. Or maybe you’ll even get a chance to pick raspberries while on vacation? Whatever treasures you find along the way, you’ll need a bag to carry them home.

Here is the pattern for it.



It’s knitted in rounds in a pretty textured stitch pattern (knitting chart included). You can use thick or thin cotton yarn, knit it in one or two colors, and easily adjust the size to suit your needs. Everything is explained in detail in the pattern.

Set up a lounge chair outside in the garden or on the balcony and let your mind wander—what could be better? But for the perfect lounging experience, you’ll need a pillow!

These socks are called “Moonlit Rivers,” and as far as I know, you need them if you’re stomping around on the moon in moon boots.

The pattern is very well suited for cotton yarns, but of course you can also use other yarns. The amount needed depends on the desired length, but I would plan for at least 600 m.
The pattern is easy. If you have never knitted brioche stitch before, it is clearly explained with pictures.

That’s exactly how I feel, too. Every year I plan to do it, but then it gets hot, and I start something light, made of cotton or sock yarn. It’s cooler again now, but during the heat wave I started a light shawl (actually two…), and now I want to finish them. Hats are still easier in the summer—they don’t feel so heavy in your hands.

When I do go away—which doesn’t happen often—it’s usually for city trips with lots of sightseeing and other activities. I usually take something with me, but it has to be something that doesn’t require much thought and that I can set aside at any time. And often enough, that knitting project ends up coming home untouched. At most, a few extra balls of yarn suddenly find their way into my bag, because there are, of course, plenty of yarn shops in cities :-)

Not enough :-) I mean, actually way too many, but I can never find them when I need them! In theory, they’re all in the same drawer. I don’t know where they always disappear to.

As a little gift for the Man in the Moon, I recommend Earth dust and a small vial of water from Earth, because they don’t have that there. To wrap it all up nicely, you can also bring him this little pouch, so he’ll always have somewhere to put his treasures and never lose them.

It’s quick to knit from two leftover bits of sock yarn. Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure whether hearts on the moon are red. Or maybe they’re blue, like the color he sees when he looks in our direction?

It’s cold on the moon, so you’ll need something to keep you warm.

An infinity scarf for your neck!



It’s easy to knit—you just need to know how to knit and purl. It’s made from very thick yarn (100n per 100g) using an 8mm circular needle. It’s so quick to make, you can even finish it on the flight up to the moon.

Potholders are always a nice little project that doesn’t feel heavy in your hands, even on hot days. This one is knitted in a simple knit-purl pattern and is definitely suitable for beginners as well. It’s also great for using up leftover yarn; about 40 m of cotton is enough.

A light and airy boho summer scarf made of cotton:

This one is a bit unconventional because it’s both knitted and crocheted. The long section is knitted lengthwise, while the ends with the fringes are crocheted.

This knitted shopping bag is made of pure cotton.

The bag comes in two versions—one made with thin cotton and one with thick cotton. The amount of yarn needed and the needle size depend on which version you choose. Thanks to the onion stitch pattern (knitting chart included), the bag is very stretchy, so you can fit a lot inside it.

Don’t be afraid—that’s my tip. Have you seen a great cable pattern somewhere but don’t think you can do it? Just give it a try! The stitches won’t bite you; the worst that can happen is that you’ll have to rip out a few rows. The best thing that can happen is that you’ll pull it off.

(Pst – 4-ply sock yarn: 100 g / approx. 410 m, or 50 g / approx. 200–210 m)
This is actually my favorite yarn weight; I reach for it time and time again.

The pot holder is knitted using the double-face technique (warning: not suitable for beginners!), which means the colors are mirrored on the front and back. You’ll need cotton yarn in two different colors. For knitting needles, I’d recommend using ones that are slightly thinner than those listed on the yarn label. You’ll also need a crochet hook, since the edge is crocheted and the loop for hanging is crocheted as well.

I think it has a lot to do with the type of yarn used. Some sock yarns are just more itchy than others. That said, some people often prefer to use “sturdier” sock yarns because they’re more durable when subjected to heavy wear.
I hate to say it, because it sounds like a TV commercial. Fewa. It doesn’t work for everything, but it often does.

Here’s a pattern for a bookmark.



A knitted bookmark in a lace pattern that’s a bit reminiscent of leaves. There’s a large knitting chart and also written-out row-by-row instructions, depending on what you prefer. And of course, you can use other colors too—it doesn’t have to be blue.

My original was made from merino wool with a yardage of 160 m per 50 g, but you can easily use other yarns for it as well. The pattern is written out row by row and also shown in a knitting chart.

What you can find about them online doesn’t look too bad, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything.
