Do you start your winter crafts as early as summer? Or…

are you like me? Every year, I resolve to start knitting a nice, warm cardigan for myself in the summer so I can wear it in the fall. Every year, I keep putting it off until it’s too late. Three months later, I get annoyed with myself ☺

How do you motivate yourselves to pull out the thick needles and cozy yarn—while wearing a T-shirt with your feet in cool, wet water—to crochet or knit a scarf, hat, or warm jacket?

Best wishes,
Caro

Oh, there are plenty of cool days in summer after all... We complain about the bad-weather spells every year! But even on those balmy evenings when it stays light for a long time, you can do some great crafting outside on the balcony or patio.

I haven’t gotten used to working ahead of the season yet.

Maybe I’ll manage it someday.

That’s exactly how I feel, too. Every year I plan to do it, but then it gets hot, and I start something light, made of cotton or sock yarn. It’s cooler again now, but during the heat wave I started a light shawl (actually two…), and now I want to finish them. Hats are still easier in the summer—they don’t feel so heavy in your hands.

Of course, you can also work according to the season—that is, start on the warm jacket in winter. Then the finished piece won’t be ready until winter is almost over. So you just have to set it aside for a year and look forward to the coming winter. But isn’t it the same with things you buy on sale?

Hard to say. During the last few days when it wasn’t 34 degrees anymore, I was actually able to get quite a bit done. I struggle in the heat, and on the one hand I tend to work on smaller projects then, but it’s already July. And I think it’ll soon be September, October, and so on, and I still have sooooooo many ideas. My eternal struggle.

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone

I can totally relate to that. Unfortunately, I’m also the type who works on cozy, warm things in winter, Easter projects at Easter, and summer items in summer. I always finish them once the season is already over.
Right now, I’ve finally finished my spring door wreath. It’s just waiting for next spring now.
But I could add to my list of good intentions that I’ll actually finish the winter hat for my friend before next spring comes around.....

But today I’d rather make the cat rattles for my friend’s daughter. The yarn is thinner, and that’s much better suited to the current temperatures.

Hi everyone! I feel exactly the same way as you do. With such beautiful weather, I just can’t seem to find the motivation to sit down and crochet (or knit) fall or winter items. I actually meant to start on a scarf a long time ago—one I saw in a magazine that came with a pattern. It’s a bit more challenging. But right now, I’m just not in the mood for it.

I hope you all continue to have fun with your crafts—whatever they may be—and come up with lots of lovely new ideas.

Warm regards from Marlies

P.S. I’m sure once the first snow falls... (laughs)... I’ll remember that scarf again

Thanks for the “scarf” suggestion.

I’d been looking for a project to take with me.
