Third Sunday of Advent: Have a pleasant weekend, everyone

Get well soon, Veronika. I’m sure you’ll be back on your feet by then.

I had the early shift, and after that I went to my afternoon dance class. Now I’m exhausted—feet up, a little time browsing the computer—then I’ll sleep well tonight. I’ve been up since 4:00 a.m.

Have a nice evening, everyone

Third Sunday of Advent: Have a pleasant weekend, everyone

Wow, it’s already the third Sunday of Advent. Man, time really flies. I have to work anyway, and on Christmas too. But I’ll have Christmas Day and Boxing Day off.

Thanks, Josefa, and to everyone else, too. I’m happy to return the favor.
Have a wonderful Advent season.

Hugs, Andrea

Happy Second Sunday of Advent to all of you + have a great weekend

This too.
I made the little snowman on the far left myself, out of large pierced wax beads, aluminum wire, a plastic hat, and googly eyes. Only the nose is still missing.
A friend gave me the wooden decoration a while back.

Your Personal Advent Highlights?

So, during Advent, these are absolute must-haves: gingerbread cookies (whether homemade or store-bought), mulled wine, butter speculoos, colorful lights everywhere, candied almonds, Christmas music, and candles.
Oh, and of course, an Advent calendar (oh dear, I haven’t bought or made one yet this year).

I’ve already tried strawberry punch and blueberry mulled wine with a shot at the Christmas market (yesterday and today after work—met up with my aunt).

Have a wonderful 1st Advent, everyone!

Happy weekend: Next weekend is the first Sunday of Advent

Veronika , I usually crochet with cotton yarn (from Katja) too, because I make a lot of figures and dolls, and I want them to keep their shape. I just really like this yarn—it comes in lots of pretty colors, and it’s not too thick. It’s just right. Especially since I can buy it and feel it right here locally (at a little craft store that’s still around).

Ina , snow is something special for the kids. It’s so rare for it to stick around here. Sledding is so much fun—maybe even a snowball fight; I’d be down for that, too.
It’s still on the ground for now, and the sidewalks and streets are clear. That’s good when you have to go to work early in the morning.

Wow, Ina, those look absolutely gorgeous. I’d snatch up the one with the rose pattern in a heartbeat. The light green goes perfectly with it. The red one is pretty, of course, too.
You really do work your magic to create such amazing things. Where do you get these gorgeous fabrics?

Happy weekend: Next weekend is the first Sunday of Advent

Wow, Veronika. You sure have a lot of yarn. If that’s just one cotton yarn box, how much is the rest?
I don’t have that much. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough space to store everything in one place. I’ve stored some in the bedroom, some in the couch compartment, and the rest in four fabric boxes. They’re also sorted into categories: yarn cakes, thin cotton crochet yarn, Katja cotton yarn, and UFOs and FOs (unfinished objects and finished objects).

I think all my yarn put together would fit into your cotton yarn box. Well, I mostly crochet small figures, so there’s room for the thinner yarn.

Inge, that sounds good about your sister. That’s nice.

To everyone: how’s the weather where you are right now? It has just started snowing here, with fine flurries coming down, and I still have to go out for the late shift later, brrrrr

Hugs from me 👩

Busy little helpers: how’s Christmas coming along?

I’m not quite in the Christmas spirit yet either. I’m sure it’ll come.
My husband already brought the decorations up from the basement today, so tomorrow I’ll start hanging the string lights in the window. Just a few Christmas decorations (we don’t have that much space, after all)—that’ll be enough. I have the day off tomorrow, anyway.

When it gets dark outside, I’ll enjoy the colorful lights in the window. I like colorful lights (not just at Christmas). Other than that, the Christmas spirit really kicks in when I open the first door on the Advent calendar—that’s when things get cozy.
I really should start baking cookies soon, too.🤔

Our Christmas market opens on Monday. Maybe I’ll get a little into the Christmas spirit there when I drink my mulled wine and eat some sautéed mushrooms. That’s a must.
Otherwise, with this stormy weather, I’ll curl up on the couch with my crochet project, a hot cappuccino, and some gingerbread. (They’ve issued a severe weather warning.)

Wishing you all a cozy afternoon/evening

Busy little helpers: are you hard-working in real life and with your crafts?

Claudia, then I hope everything works out just as you imagined. That’s a very nice gesture on your part. I’d do the same.

Right now, I’m continuing to crochet my mosaic blanket as much as my limited free time allows.
I also have a crochet commission for a colleague—she’s just become a great-grandmother.
I also need to finish up a few little things for my swap group. But I have the whole weekend to myself—it’s all mine. Bring it on, whatever comes my way.

I could only keep up with the forum here on my phone or tablet because my computer had given out. Now I have a new one. Three days without my laptop was pretty weird—but all my patterns are back too. Yay 😊

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 3.

Good evening at this late hour,

from me too, dear Ina, a really, really big thank you for starting this “swap package.” It’s pure excitement every time: joining in the anticipation, browsing, feeling... swapping. Always a highlight.

I’ve just come back from the late shift, and I was quite amazed that the package has finally arrived at your place too. The way you let us share in it with all your emotion and loving words, with all the little treats from the treasure chest.
I thought that was a really fantastic idea (the chest wasn’t in there yet when I had it) and I’m happy for you. Such pretty, thoughtful, unique thank-you gifts especially for you, Ina.

Such pretty colors of the swap yarn you picked out have now found a new home. They would have been my colors too.

Have a lovely Sunday, everyone, and lots of fun working with the beautiful yarn treasures.

We’ll “see” each other again with the next yarn package

lots of love, Andrea

The first Sunday of Advent is just four weeks away: have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

Thank you very much for your weekend wishes. I’m happy to send them back to you.

I just have to work again this weekend (late shift). But I have today off.
My husband and I took a little autumn walk in glorious sunshine, and afterward we went out to eat at the café of a senior residence. Non-residents are allowed to have lunch there too. Sliced meat with mashed potatoes, beetroot, and applesauce on the side. It was very tasty. I didn’t have to cook.
Then off to the couch to crochet. Relax a little.

Warmest regards
Andrea

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 3.

Good evening, dear yarn lovers,

our “swap package” has almost made its way around the circle; next, it’ll arrive at Ina’s.

Dear Monika, you finally got to wallow in the “wool bath” too, and some very lovely treasures have found their way to you. The light colors could have stayed with me as well.
Since you knit so much, these fine, soft yarns are just the thing for you. I think it’s great when you already have various projects in mind. For me, when it comes to crafts, I usually decide based on the color and what I’m in the mood for or need at the moment.
For some larger projects, of course, I already know beforehand what I want to make.

I also often set aside “good” yarn for later and then think about what I’ll crochet with it.

P.S. Yesterday was a holiday here too (Reformation Day). But I had to work. In exchange, I have Friday off, and I’ll be crocheting again (something using the mosaic technique).

Have fun with your new yarn, Monika, and now Ina can look forward to her treasures. I’m so excited.

Warm evening greetings

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 2.

Our yarn swap package looks really fun. You’ve picked out some lovely yarns. I would have “adopted” that Hobbii yarn, too. Gorgeous colors.
Do you already know what you’re going to make with it?

My swap yarn is still here because I want to use up my “birthday yarn” first.
I don’t have a specific plan yet.

Have a wonderful evening, everyone, with your swap yarn 🙂🧶

Yarn Swap Package 3/2023 Is on the Move, Part 2.

Good evening, Robine,

I completely agree with the previous posters. As we all witnessed in our “mind’s eye,” you enjoyed your “wool bath” to the fullest, and we were right there with you in spirit.
It’s so lovely to see how each person delights in their treasures.
Feel—Marvel—Swap. That’s the whole point of this swap, thanks to Ina, who started it all.😉👍

You’ve picked out such pretty yarn, and yes, it’s really hard to choose with so much yarn all in one place.
By the way, the yarns in the top left corner are mine, and they’ve now found a new home with you, waiting to be turned into something beautiful.
Have fun with them.

Good to know, Steffi, that everything’s okay with you.

Have a pleasant week, everyone.

Unfortunately, my vacation is now over.

Best wishes, Andrea👩

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone

everyone’s weekend looks different. So it won’t be boring.
My fruit tart bases are done, and 2 cakes have been ordered. Other than that, a little party is planned for tomorrow. Today I still had a dentist appointment, I’m a bit worn out and have a bit of a headache. It was a bit too much excitement today, and I’m wondering whether everything will work out tomorrow the way I hope.

so have a lovely weekend, everyone, and devote yourselves to your yarn and needles.

It’s supposed to get warm here again, we’ll see. I did call “up there” and ordered sunshine for tomorrow.

That’s so sweet of you, thank you, Ina. 😉👏🏼💚
Your kind words always come from the heart (as do everyone else’s here, of course). That makes the day so much happier (especially with this dreary weather today).

You have such pretty fall decorations. What are these apples made of? And there’s that “personal touch” painted on the chestnuts again. So cute.

My youngest son and my stepson are coming today; the other one is coming tomorrow (since he’s still working). Tomorrow’s the party! 🥂🎂🕯

Poll: Do you print out patterns or follow them on screen while crafting?

It depends on how long the pattern is. But I do both.
Most patterns, though, are printed out because my previous computer broke down, and I hadn’t backed up quite a few of them to an external drive or USB flash drive yet. I’ve been careful ever since.
