Dear users, dear authors,
how are your Advent decorations coming along? Are you finished?
I wish you a lovely weekend.

Thank you Josefa, I wish you and everyone else a wonderful weekend too!
No, so far I’ve only set up the LaCritza Advent calendar in the office; the rest will follow at the beginning of the week.
Tomorrow we’re having dear visitors, so we’ll be kicking off raclette season. It’s getting a little cooler here now too, but the last of the fall decorations are still up for that.
The geraniums are still blooming on the balcony, so it really doesn’t feel wintry there yet either.
Today I tidied up all my yarns. Having them spread across various cupboards and drawers just didn’t suit me anymore; I always need everything organized. For that I bought some of those so-called under-bed boxes; they fit at the bottom of the cupboard, under the bed or sofa, on top of a cupboard—basically anywhere there’s a little space, super practical.
One for gradient cakes and sock yarn, one for cotton, and one for everything else: glow-in-the-dark yarn, acrylic, glitter thread, etc.
This is the cotton box:

Thanks, Josefa. I’d also like to wish everyone a wonderful weekend. Mine will be great because my sister came through her surgery just fine, and what she needs now is rest so she can recover.

It’s crazy how much yarn you have there, Vermoika, but my oldest daughter has a similar amount :-) She very often can’t get past the yarn shelves in stores; they must have some kind of glue there that keeps jumping out at her ;-) :-)

Best regards, Inge

Wow, Veronika, that looks great. What a fantastic idea! If I were to pile up all my yarn, I think I’d be in for a shock. Only then would I realize just how much I actually have. Right now, though, I’m working through my stash—I won’t be buying anything new for a while. I have enough for all my projects.

I wish all of you here a wonderful weekend, too. It’s supposed to start snowing here tonight. I’m really looking forward to it. Other than that, I’m making myself cozy with yarn, knitting needles, a hot lemon drink with honey, and some nice music. I’ve already put up a pine branch. Everything else will follow over the next few days.

Inge, I’m so happy for you and your sister.

I prefer to scatter my yarn all over the house—that way, the others lose track of it, and that’s better that way😃

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Wow, Veronika. You sure have a lot of yarn. If that’s just one cotton yarn box, how much is the rest?
I don’t have that much. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough space to store everything in one place. I’ve stored some in the bedroom, some in the couch compartment, and the rest in four fabric boxes. They’re also sorted into categories: yarn cakes, thin cotton crochet yarn, Katja cotton yarn, and UFOs and FOs (unfinished objects and finished objects).

I think all my yarn put together would fit into your cotton yarn box. Well, I mostly crochet small figures, so there’s room for the thinner yarn.

Inge, that sounds good about your sister. That’s nice.

To everyone: how’s the weather where you are right now? It has just started snowing here, with fine flurries coming down, and I still have to go out for the late shift later, brrrrr

Hugs from me 👩

Dear Andrea, last night Frau Holle gave us a light dusting of snow. Today it’s almost all gone again. But the weather forecast is predicting more snow. My son and his family are currently spending the long weekend in Oberwiesenthal. It snowed quite a bit there, and the kids (ages 1.5 and 5) and adults are having a blast sledding.

Dear Inge, I’m so happy for your sister that the surgery went well. That’s a wonderful Christmas gift! Now you can breathe a sigh of relief, relax, and look forward to Christmas.

I’m sending warmest regards to everyone. Enjoy the quiet weekend.
On Monday, I’ll be rummaging through all the Christmas decoration boxes with my grandson and putting up the decorations. Since he loves decorations and glitter, a few items will probably find their way into his home.

Warm regards, Ina

It’s rainy here—still too warm for snow; it’s still 8 degrees.
Andrea, I don’t have that much of the other stuff; I mostly work with cotton. I have about 6 or 7 skeins of sock yarn, one of which I’ve already started—I’ll definitely be using those up little by little this winter.
I also still have a few yarn cakes left; I’m planning to make a summer sweater and a light scarf with them.
I don’t have that much acrylic yarn—just 3 skeins of glow-in-the-dark yarn and 3 or 4 others, some of which are partially used—so it’s really manageable.
Every now and then I pack up a bundle of scraps and list it on a swap site; it always gets snapped up right away, and I have more space again.

Veronika , I usually crochet with cotton yarn (from Katja) too, because I make a lot of figures and dolls, and I want them to keep their shape. I just really like this yarn—it comes in lots of pretty colors, and it’s not too thick. It’s just right. Especially since I can buy it and feel it right here locally (at a little craft store that’s still around).

Ina , snow is something special for the kids. It’s so rare for it to stick around here. Sledding is so much fun—maybe even a snowball fight; I’d be down for that, too.
It’s still on the ground for now, and the sidewalks and streets are clear. That’s good when you have to go to work early in the morning.
