Pink, Purple, Hot Pink + Red: Make Beautiful Models Now

A few cute ideas for toddlers that you can also put in an Easter basket. And finally, something for the baby. All combined with pink, red, or purple.

Here, leftover yarn in pink and red was creatively combined to make doll and teddy bear clothes. The little sweaters are knitted with raglan sleeves starting from the top. The pattern includes multiple sizes, so you can dress a teddy bear or doll measuring 25–35 cm just as easily as larger ones measuring 40–50 cm.

To the knitting pattern

To go with that, you can knit these overalls for the larger dolls (40–50 cm).

This colorful raglan dress fits dolls measuring 45–50 cm. It’s sure to be a hit as an Easter gift.

For the doll’s mom (ages 3–4), there’s a skirt that goes very well with it.

And to go with it, you can use the leftover yarn to make a little skirt for the doll, along with a sweater and a hairband.

Of course, every baby doll needs a diaper, too. You can easily crochet one using colorful leftover yarn. Here, I used a lot of pink.

This cute outfit fits dolls measuring 43–50 cm, as well as small newborns. The top is also knitted using the RVO method.

How about a raglan sweater with a side button placket for the doll baby (40–50 cm)?

A onesie is sure to be a hit with the doll mom, too. It fits dolls or teddy bears measuring 40–50 cm.

And here are a few more toys that toddlers will love:

A bag for a pretend store, filled—of course—with lemons and carrots. All the pieces are very easy to crochet.

Any toddler with a Puky, tricycle, or balance bike will love this attachable bag. There are surely plenty of ideas for what can be carried in it. Recommended for advanced crocheters.

Crocheting or knitting?

Yes, dear Ina, you’re part of the reason, too, when I see what beautiful pants you’re currently sewing for your little one. In general, it seems like sewing fever has broken out here. That’s actually very inspiring. I’m already on the hunt for fabric and will definitely show you the result.

Marlene, your sock looks great. Are you making a Mojo sock?

I finally finished my tunic today. I still need to iron the hem a bit. Unfortunately, you can’t see the lace pattern at the bottom now. It fits me perfectly, and with this weather, I can wear it over a shirt.

What's your current favorite material?

Right now, I prefer working with cotton or acrylic blends. They’re the best for knitting doll clothes.

Crocheting or knitting?

I can do both and enjoy them both. However, when I crochet, my arm starts to ache after a while. Knitting, on the other hand, I can do for hours and actually prefer it. Especially for clothing, it’s much more elastic. Very tiny items, however, are better suited for crocheting, as are decorative pieces.

If I had to choose, I’d definitely prefer knitting.

Yeah, and I’m also planning to start sewing again. I used to sew a lot of things for myself and my son. I’ve got the talent (probably from my mom). I just somehow lacked the motivation to start again. Today, I actually bought two patterns here for children’s clothing. I’m going to start off simple—with a summer hat and a little skirt. I’ll probably sew them from clothes I don’t wear anymore. That’s a great way to put them to good use.

You can knit this raglan dress in cotton with colorful stripes for a toddler from about age 2. It will grow with them for a while and later fit as a tunic.

There is also a matching partner look for the doll (45-50 cm) - exactly the same little dress made from the leftovers.

Now children are playing outside more again and riding around on their Puky, tricycle, or balance bike. This hanging bag is perfect for that. It has a double bottom and can handle quite a lot. Recommended for experienced crocheters.

Ines, I’ve already admired your very special baby blanket in the new arrivals section. That’s really a lovely idea and something completely different.

Marlene, the colors and yarn for your sock would be right up my alley, too. Yes, my needles are working overtime as I’m in the final stretch on the tunic. I plan to finish it tonight. Then it’s back to making clothes for the quadruplets.

Here’s a colorful spring greeting for you all—the basket of flowers my husband gave me. I got to pick it out myself at the market.

Andrea, I feel exactly the same way—it’s like one big family. You’ve all grown dear to my heart, and it’s so much fun to chat with you all here. Over the past few years, it’s become a lovely habit of mine to join in here.

Yes, Christina, we’re having a lovely spring day here today, too. We enjoyed it this afternoon on the balcony with some delicious cake—and my knitting, of course. My tunic is finally coming together—yay!

Ines, belated congratulations are always appreciated. And my ideas are sprouting right now just like spring flowers. :)

Here, I’ll show you the beautiful spring flower arrangement from my husband. I got to pick it out myself at the market. I love flowers that I can plant later. That way, they’ll last me a long time.

March Projects 2022, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Crafting Group

Thanks for your feedback. :))

Petra, your sweater looks pretty too with those bright colors and the button.
I purposely made the sweater without a button. It’s really easy to pull over your head because the cuff stretches well. But I did add buttonholes so a ribbon can be threaded through.

For the quadruplets, I’m going to knit everything in the same yarn—the colorful one and the yellow one—but combine them in different ways. I’m curious to see the final result myself. In any case, I already have a complete outfit set—pants, sweater, jacket, and hat. A sleeping bag, too. Juna will get a set like that for her doll as well.

Tonight, I’m going to rip out my tunic first so I can start over with the pattern. I want to wear that one soon, too.

Marlene, your basket looks very pretty—it’s a really lovely spring color. Perfect as an Easter basket.

Ina, I totally get where you’re coming from. A little angel like that is truly something special, and you’re really very hardworking. Your first pair of pants for Lisann already looks very cute. Her parents are sure to be delighted. My desire to sew is reawakening too... but I think I’d need at least 10 hands for that, because I have so many other things planned.

My doll clothes for the quadruplets have grown again. Yesterday I finished knitting this sweater and the hat.

With the matching pants, this is what it looks like when worn:

And here are two of them in the same outfit—they’re two different Baby B. dolls in the same size. One is just a tiny bit chubbier than the other.

Now I’m going to get back to work, and I hope you all have a wonderful spring weekend!

Wishing you a lovely weekend

Thank you, everyone, for the kind wishes. I also wish everyone here a beautiful, sunny weekend. It’s going to be especially nice for me because I have a special day tomorrow. It’s still a bit too chilly to celebrate outside, but that’s okay. My granddaughter is also celebrating tomorrow—she’s already turning 6. My goodness, how time flies. Unfortunately, she lives too far away; otherwise, we’d be celebrating together. Maybe it’ll work out another year. Right now, we think twice about every trip before we start the car.

Imelda, we do that too—we mow around the little flowers. It always looks really nice with all those little islands of flowers. And of course, we keep the picking to a minimum. We don’t step on them either. Before picking each flower, I thank it for letting me eat it. I also used to pick and eat sorrel as a kid. :)

By the way, pansies also look decorative on a salad. But I only do that rarely and sparingly. What I love most is nasturtium. I eat it with the flower, leaves, and stem.

That’s really interesting, the daisy ointment. I’ll keep that in mind. I’m also a fan of natural remedies and have had great results with them so far. I once beat my hay fever with homeopathic pellets—and it’s been gone for 34 years now, after I’d tried everything else.

We always put daisies in our salads (daisy guardians, please don’t scold me). :)
Now I’m sure they’ll serve as an ointment too.

Thanks for the helpful tip.

Oh Ina, what a sweet little treasure you have there. The little one is surely loved by everyone and dressed so beautifully by you. It’s especially tempting when it comes to girls. You really made that picture frame turn out especially pretty.

Andrea, once all four are dressed, we’ll take a group photo. I’ll take care of it. ;-)

Marlene, we’re excited to see how your little basket grows.

Thanks for the feedback, Marlies.
Wow, that doily looks great in that color. The little horse turned out really nice, too. I can totally imagine it getting adopted right away. And the little bear is sooo cute and adorable. You want to crochet a Unimog? Wow—I’m really curious to see that. It’s great that you can make your husband happy with it.

Wow, Marlene, your shawl turned out really great. It looks fantastic, especially with that beautiful border.

Christina, I could fall in love with your little one. She looks absolutely adorable in those pretty clothes. And the shawl is beautiful, too. And those little baskets—what a lovely surprise to bring to your knitting group! It’s often the little things that bring much more joy than something big.

I’m now down to the last 25 or so rounds on my tunic. I’ll post a picture when it’s finished. Things are moving a bit slower for me right now because there are just too many other things that need doing.

But my doll babies—the little ones—are gradually getting their outfits. That brings me so much joy. I’ve even designed a pair of pants with feet attached. Here’s the complete set.

Sewing for Babies and Children

When my son was still little and I was caring for a daycare child (a girl), I started sewing for both of them. Back then, I was still using an old treadle sewing machine that belonged to my mother. At some point, I stopped. I’m actually already thinking about starting again for my granddaughters. You can make a lot of things out of clothes that no longer fit me or that I don’t want to wear anymore. Back then, I also made sweaters and shirts for my son out of my own clothes. Starting with small projects would be a good idea.

Inge, nature is already a bit further along where you are than it is here. Very beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Does crafting help you in the current situation?

It helps me a lot, too, because then I’m fully focused on being creative, and that feels good. I also spend less time online and focus on beautiful things. Walks outside are lovely right now, too, with everything in bloom. I’m already looking forward to gardening season. Of course, I’ll be knitting out there, too.
