Final sprint and awards ceremony for March projects / Best of the Leftovers / UFO Week

Wow, Marion, your blanket looks absolutely amazing! I really like it. It’s a great way to use up yarn stash and scraps creatively. Awesome!

Teddy Fynn has almost finished his summer outfit. It looks totally cute. A photo will follow by Sunday.

Then the next bear is already waiting for a pair of pants. For a change, those will be crocheted.

I wish everyone here a wonderful weekend!

Download weekend projects: Bobbel / leftover yarn / bestsellers

A great weekend project is this cowl and shoulder warmer. It’s quickly knitted from one skein of cotton and extremely practical under a sweater or jacket. A cowl like this really proves its worth during transitional weather. And if it gets too warm, you can simply take it off and tuck it into your handbag.

The pattern is optimized for beginners, has no abbreviations, and is written in a print-friendly format. Basic knowledge is required, though.

Here’s the knitting pattern for the cowl / shoulder warmer.

Everything that flies or flutters

This owl may have wings, but it stays nicely hanging on the door because it has an important job. It shows exactly whether someone is allowed to come in or not.

Children especially get a lot of joy from it, because they sometimes like to be undisturbed too. The guardian owl is also great to use on the toilet or bathroom door.

It’s very easy to crochet, even for beginners with basic skills. Leftover yarn is enough for this. How about a gift like this for the family at Easter?

Final sprint and awards ceremony for March projects / Best of the Leftovers / UFO Week

The little sporty spring and summer sweater for Teddy Fynn is finished, made from leftover yarn and stash-diet yarn, of course. Now I’m knitting him a pair of sporty pants to go with it, matching his red-and-white flag colors.

A little sneak peek… Fynn from behind in his summer sweater:

I’ll post the full picture once it’s finished. I had to rip out the almost-finished pants today because they didn’t fit. Now I have to start all over again ... sigh.

This is my entry for the spring projects and also for the leftovers challenge, since it only takes a small amount of yarn.

Toy Patterns: New Models Online.

All children, and even the whole family, will love a door guardian owl or a little door guardian bear like this. After all, they have a very useful function - they guard the bedroom door.

Children sometimes want to lock themselves in. That’s no longer necessary now, because with these cute door hangers they can clearly say stop. So from now on, keys are a thing of the past.

Both door guardians are very easy and quick to crochet, and you only need leftover yarn for them. The pattern explains every step in detail, so even beginners can manage it well.

Here is the crochet pattern for the door guardian owl.

Both door hangers are also available together as a value set in my shop.

This family of gnomes, complete with a matching gnome house, sparks the imagination of little ones, who will come up with many ways to play with them. In the evening, the gnomes can go to sleep in the house. And during the day, little treasures can be hidden inside the gnomes.

By the way, this is a great idea for Easter. You can also hide Easter eggs inside them, and the gnomes can hide all over the garden - or in the house.

The gnomes and the gnome house (storage basket) are quick and easy to crochet, even for beginners with basic skills. This is also a great way to use up lots of colorful leftover yarn.

The little bear is quick and very easy to knit, even for beginners who have basic knowledge. This one is approx. 40 cm tall, which is a good and handy size for toddlers. You can reduce the size by using smaller needles.

The pattern contains no abbreviations; everything is written out. And it is also printer-friendly, because the photos are on extra pages.

This food for the play kitchen brought great joy to my 2-year-old granddaughter. She immediately started cooking with it and feeding her dolls.

Here you get the pattern for a slice of toast, noodles, a piece of butter and small pats of butter, vegetable slices, and a fried egg. This makes the play kitchen perfectly equipped. And it has another side effect—this helps toddlers develop a connection to vegetables.

So cute, Marion!

Josefa, isn’t the yarn diet supposed to last until the end of April?

Well, I’ve knitted everything from leftover yarn and, of course, yarn from the yarn diet. Let’s see what else I can finish by the end of March. Right now, I’ve got a summer sweater for Teddy Fynn on my needles, made from leftover yarn and yarn from the yarn diet.

Yes, that’s definitely a good idea when it comes to washing. I often use yarn that I’m already familiar with, so I know how it behaves after washing.

By the way, my design ideas usually just pop into my head out of the blue. :-)

Design Topic: How Do You Design Clothing?

For me, measurements come first. I need to know who I’m designing for and what size they are.

Once I know that, I start by sketching out what it should look like.
I write down the measurements right away.

Then I pick out the right yarn and color combination.

And then I knit or crochet a gauge swatch to at least get the width right.

Only then can I start knitting or crocheting. For me, the preparations and calculations often take more time and patience than the actual knitting or crocheting itself. Often, while I’m knitting, a different color combination or pattern emerges—one that’s even prettier than the one I’d chosen before.

This sweet little pinafore dress with knitted-in hearts for babies and toddlers will fit for quite a while. It fits a 6-month-old baby and later even a 3-year-old toddler — so from size 74 to 98.

There is also a matching headband. It can be knitted in any size. The waffle pattern is explained in detail, so the pattern is good for beginners with basic knowledge.
