Dear users, dear authors,
since the first thread on this topic received lots of replies, I’m opening a new thread here for the final sprint and the awards ceremony. Stay tuned, hang in there, you can do it.

You can read the info and previous posts here:
March Projects: All Easter and Spring Models UFO Week March 21–28 Yarn Diet:
Final Round for World Domination Tunisian Crochet Continues
Best of the Leftovers

*************************************************************
*************************************************************
A W A R D S C E R E M O N Y for the March campaigns:

*************************************************************
*************************************************************
*************************************************************

If you’re busy and productive, then your name will be listed here.
Hang in there.

UFO King/Queen

Wollfaden hasn’t produced a single UFO this year, but is diligently reducing them. That has to be mentioned too, even if that alone isn’t quite enough for the title. :- ) Of course she still gets the title: Martion has repurposed an autumnal door wreath for Easter and spring. That was well worth it and earns the title UFO Queen
too.

Mowi19 earned the title with the poncho cape. Congratulations.

CarosverrueckteHaekelwelt finished a star blanket. My compliments and congratulations on the title. But there was more: a pretty doll with a dress was finished too. Great job.

Arni has also truly earned the title UFO Queen with her leftover-yarn projects.

Best of the Leftovers

Arni made lots of snails from leftover yarn, is doing good with them, and has earned the title. Congratulations. Baby shoes and a baby jacket were finished as well.

Mowi19 finished her UFOs with leftover yarn, so that is also enough for the title Best of the Leftovers. Things are going well for you. :- ) Keep it up.

Mifas is working on a shawl made from antique yarn with a mix of patterns; I’m not quite sure whether it’s finished yet? The photo is impressive in any case. Yes, it is finished. :- ) Congratulations.

Wollfaden earned the title Best of the Leftovers with the colorful fidget blanket for a good cause. Admirable. Compliments on the title, and an extra compliment because the Tunisian crochet technique was used. The clothing for the doll is finished too. Busy, busy. :- )

ChristinaE has definitely earned the title Best of the Leftovers. Congratulations.
The dishcloth, the chicken, the little baskets, and the two white fluffy bunnies were made from leftovers.

Yarn Diet

Pe-Ka kept up the yarn diet until the beginning of April, but then stopped, if I understood that correctly. But that’s easily enough for Yarn Emperor/Empress in March. :- ) Congratulations.

Mowi19 is still at it too. :- )

ChristinaE. diligently worked up diet yarn, but then had to buy more and is unfortunately out of the running for world domination. Quote: The runner and the potholders were made from diet yarn (for me, whole skeins don’t count as leftovers, just as stash! ) End quote.

Final round for world domination: still running until the end of April.

- Iglinz is still at it. Congratulations. :- )
- Mowi19 is still at it too. Keep up the good work. :- )
- Arni is still in too and very productive. Stick with it. :- )
- Wollfaden is still busy with it too. Wow. You’re all wonderful, every single one of you.
- Haekeltrulla is still in too. Great.

Inner Slacker Tamer

CarosverrueckteHaekelwelt is still in the race. Stick with it and hang in there.

All March projects with photos

Wollfaden finished a fantastic bunny with pants. It looks great in the photo.
The blanket by Wollefaden with the colorful squares is going to be a real eye-catcher. More photos, please. I’m just reading that the fidget blanket was finished in March after all and was also made from leftover yarn or diet yarn, so of course I’ll add that above. :- )

Mowi19 made enchanting coasters with a petal border. They turned out beautifully. And a cute poncho cape was finished too. Wow. And the bag for the granddaughter, with toast bread and butter to go with it, was finished too. Were those UFOs or regular March projects?
And the sweet teddy got a sporty spring outfit, and the teddy’s brother received a new jacket.
I had previously listed this above under the UFOs, but Mowi19 says they were only March projects made from diet and leftover yarn, so I’m adding it here:
Several mug warmers were finished too. Double congratulations. And the Tempo tissues got another pretty cover.
Even more congratulations. The sleeping bag or swaddle sack and the sweater for
the baby bear were finished too. You have truly earned your title.
:- ) There was also a cozy sweater for the teddy. Someone was very busy in March.

CarosverrueckteHaekelwelt has started a new shawl, and it’s coming along splendidly.

Iglinz finished a cowl in a wonderful shade of blue. It looks absolutely amazing. Was that leftover yarn or a UFO? If so, that’s easily enough for the title.
update: Apparently it wasn’t a UFO, but it is beautiful.
The shawl with the promising photos isn’t finished yet, but surely will be soon.

ChristinaE. finished a baby blanket that looks very cozy. Was that also a UFO or leftover yarn? Dishcloths and doilies are finished too. They really turned out admirably beautiful.

Newly learned: new techniques, etc.

CarosverrueckteHaekelwelt has newly discovered post double crochet for herself and is enjoying it.

Tunisian Crochet

The participants in Tunisian crochet are clearly having fun and making good progress; keep going, there’s still more to come.

The little sporty spring and summer sweater for Teddy Fynn is finished, made from leftover yarn and stash-diet yarn, of course. Now I’m knitting him a pair of sporty pants to go with it, matching his red-and-white flag colors.

A little sneak peek… Fynn from behind in his summer sweater:

I’ll post the full picture once it’s finished. I had to rip out the almost-finished pants today because they didn’t fit. Now I have to start all over again ... sigh.

This is my entry for the spring projects and also for the leftovers challenge, since it only takes a small amount of yarn.

Yay,

My fidget blanket was finished today. Of course, it was made with leftover yarn and stash-diet yarn.
I’ve already shown the other pieces (the bunny and the wreath) with photos
here.
For my blanket, I crocheted quite a lot of patterns in Tunisian crochet, and I’m really enjoying it now.

Here is the photo

Wow, Marion, your blanket looks absolutely amazing! I really like it. It’s a great way to use up yarn stash and scraps creatively. Awesome!

Teddy Fynn has almost finished his summer outfit. It looks totally cute. A photo will follow by Sunday.

Then the next bear is already waiting for a pair of pants. For a change, those will be crocheted.

I wish everyone here a wonderful weekend!

Thanks, Monika.

You’re really hard at work, too—every piece has turned out really beautiful. I’m sure all your teddy bears will look great once you’ve dressed them all in new outfits. I’m already looking forward to seeing your pictures.

The yarn diet is such a great idea. Your stash is shrinking, you’re getting new ideas, and you can try out lots of new patterns.

The blanket is awesome! And so is the teddy bear sweater!
I’ve secretly and quietly knitted a loop scarf—using yarn I had on hand, of course—world domination is already within reach.

I’m still working on the blanket; only the crochet shawl is on hold for now because I can’t find the contrasting color.

Hi Ida,
glad you’re still with us. Is your pretty cowl for spring, or is it a bit thicker? In any case, you’ve found a lovely color among your leftover yarn.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. :-)

Ida, your cowl looks really pretty. Yes, it really is wonderful here with all of you. On my own, I’d never go on a yarn diet. Something like that would never even occur to me. I still have so much beautiful yarn in reserve, especially cotton, that to be honest I don’t feel like buying any yarn right now. At the moment there are only a few colors I’d like to add, but that can definitely wait until May. I’ll definitely manage world domination.

It won’t be enough for “Slacker Conqueror,” though, because by the end of the year I’ll definitely need yarn for new projects that I want to finish by winter.

In any case, when the time comes I’ll stock up enough that I can easily go on a diet again for a few months. I really think it’s great to use up those lovely supplies.

You’ll get to see Teddy Fynn’s spring outfit by tomorrow at the latest. He looks incredibly cute in it. After that, it’ll be Steiff teddy Charly’s turn. He doesn’t have anything of his own yet, only hand-me-downs. He’s next in line for a new outfit. Fynn already has winter and summer clothes.

I already have a baby project for April buzzing around in my head. The yarn is already waiting, and it will be knitted in light yellow and turquoise. The color combination looks really pretty. Wait and see.

I wish you all a wonderful Saturday and Sunday with lots of sunshine like we have here.
And keep it up! The more of us there are, the more fun it is to stick with it!

Warm regards
Monika

Oh, by the way, I have a wonderful reason to come up with baby projects...
My son wants to expand his family. They’re already planning their second child. I’m already knitting for the little one from head to toe, and it can look forward to a cozy gift package. The first stuffed animal is already finished—the little baby bear, complete with clothes. Ah, I’m really enjoying this!

Thank you, you two :-) The cowl is pretty thick, so it’s not really something for spring. But I got the yarn for Christmas, and I just had to make something out of it.
Monika, I hope it works out with adding to your family. And for your son too, of course!

Monika, will there also be patterns for the bear clothes? I still have sooo many scraps, yarn and cotton (and sooo many teddy bears without clothes)!
I think the baby items are great - now I finally have a use for them again.
Today I finished knitting another dishcloth from diet yarn - picture to follow! Using up scraps is almost becoming addictive - but then again, on my own it would only be half as much fun (and there would probably always be a hundred other lovely things that absolutely need new yarn...)

Christina—yes, you can already look forward to the patterns for all the teddy bears. Fynn is now wearing his sporty spring outfit and looks sooo cute. Take a look:

I’m curious to see your dishcloth. That’s the kind of thing you can make really well out of scraps.

Yeah, I feel the same way as you do. I still have a lot of scraps—for example, single, half-used skeins—that are perfect for teddy bear clothes. These days, I actually have more fun using up “diet yarn” and scraps than buying new yarn. Crazy, right? It’s amazing what’s possible here... :-)

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

Monika,
Fynn’s outfit fits perfectly—awesome!!!
He has the advantage of having everything made for him and not having to wear anything off the rack.
I really like it. By the way, I’ve also started on the doll; the pants are almost done.

I wish you a lovely Sunday.

Marion, I’m also curious about your doll clothes. I think little things like that are really cute, and it’s fun because they’re done so quickly.

Fynn has a little figure problem. ;-)
His legs stick out so far apart. The pants didn’t fit until the third try, but now they fit really well. Right now he’s back in his winter sweater because he was cold in his summer outfit. And he’s not in the mood for sports yet either. ;-)

Right now I’m working on Teddy Charly. He has a different figure problem. He has such skinny little arms, the little guy. But on top of that, he’s got a well-rounded bottom. I’ve already unraveled his jacket twice because it just didn’t fit. But I’m getting closer and closer to the solution and am just starting it over. It’ll be orange and blue—it looks really cute in my mind’s eye and goes well with his dark brown fur.

In any case, I’m glad that I’ve finally finished all my UFOs and also used up quite a bit of my “diet” yarn. I’ve got a lot planned for April...

By the way, I’d love it if we kept setting up threads like this one. It really motivates me to use up scraps and “diet yarn.” I especially love that we get to show each other our progress here.

How about calling it “Knitting and Crochet Lounge,” for example? Just an idea...

I think it’s a great idea. I’ve seen this in other forums before.
The name would be perfect, too.

It’s just nice to be able to show your own creations here and not just in the gallery.

Monika, I’ve noticed that you and I often seem to have the same ideas. I’m also working on a pair of yellow pants—I hadn’t even seen yours yet. Strange????

13182 Posts Recent Started

Yeah, Marion, a thread like this somehow means more to me than the gallery. Especially since we can also exchange ideas and ask questions here. To be honest, I only check the gallery very rarely.

As for the ideas, I think that similar ideas are always floating around in the “air” somehow. A wise person once told me that inventions are always made at the same time—it just depends on who announces them first.

It’s great that we have similar ideas. I guess we’re just on the same wavelength somehow. :-)

By the way, Fynn’s pants are red with yellow, and his sweater is yellow with red. So they’re actually a little different, right?

One more thing about similar ideas:
My designs always seem to come out of “nowhere”—often not even until I’m actually knitting or crocheting. So I’ve been surprised more than once when I later see a similar design somewhere else. I guess several people must have had similar ideas.

Oh well. It doesn’t bother me. Life’s too short to get upset over things like that. There are more important things. ;-)

@Mowi19,
there is a thread every month for the projects of the current month, UFO Week, etc.
Monthly so that the whole thing doesn’t get overwhelmingly long.

Do you need another similar thread for that?

Josefa, if things continue at this monthly pace, I think it’ll be enough. The motivation from these projects is really great!

What should always be included is using up leftover yarn, as well as the (monthly) “Wool Empress”—and UFOs, of course. :-)

Have a wonderful Sunday! Enjoy the sun (and not just the sunset) ;-)

the part about having the same ideas was meant as a joke. I don’t get annoyed when others have similar ideas either.
Maybe we really do think alike, after all, we’re both Aries and almost the same age. Ha, ha

I hope you have lots of great ideas for your next grandchild. Mine are already 17; they don’t want knitted clothes anymore.
Best regards, Marion

The yarn arrived on Thursday—it’s a 100% perfect match. I knitted the second-to-last row on Friday evening while chatting with my friend, and today I did the final row. I’m so happy—it looks so beautiful, if I do say so myself. Now I’ll just spray it and block it. But hopefully I won’t forget to take a photo ;-)
Knitted from 100g of cotton-blend sock yarn from my stash, 200g of quite old cotton, and about 20g of freshly bought cotton yarn. That counts as leftovers ;-)

Marion, I’m still a Pisces, one of the last ones, so to speak. But that doesn’t matter at all, water and earth go wonderfully together. ;-)

Michaela, now that’s what I call a gigantic scrap-yarn project. It turned out great! A mix of patterns like that is something different.

I’m not quite done yet. We still have until the 31st, after all.
The pants for the doll are finished, but with the sweater, I’m in the same boat as Monika.
The doll has figure issues too—I’ve already had to unravel some of it.
Hopefully, I’ll still be able to finish by the end of the month.

No, UFO Week ends tomorrow, Wednesday, because of Easter. I have the day off on Easter Saturday and won’t be here to wrap up UFO Week. :-)

Marion, I’m already very curious about your doll clothes.

Teddy Charly is also giving me quite a few challenges with his jacket. It took me three tries to get the jacket right. Now I just need to add a hood. I’ll show it to you when it’s finished—maybe in the April thread, if Josefa sets one up for us beforehand.

@Monika

Charly is surely proud of his beautiful jacket.

I’ll show you how far I’ve gotten.  I altered the pants—they used to be overalls, but then the belly was too big. The sweater had a different neckline before, but then the head wouldn’t fit through it anymore.

Now I’ve decided on this version, and everything fits. However, I’m still missing shoes and a hat. When I’m done, I’ll show it here.

Best, Marion

Marion, what you’ve knitted there looks really lovely. I really like the colorful stripes. The hat and the shoes are sure to turn out just as nice.

I’m not making pants for Charly just yet; I’ll get back to that later. I already know I’ll have to experiment a lot until they fit just right. In any case, he’s really happy with his jacket right now. I tried out a new color combination that I really love—orange with dark blue.

Baby clothes are next in April. They’re still taking shape in my head...

I’ve decided on a slight change of plans.
Since March runs through the 31st, I’ll hold the awards ceremony for UFOs, Reste-Beste, and all March projects on Tuesday because of Easter and so on. That means you still have some time and can finish everything at your own pace.

Anyone who’s already finished with March can get started here with all their April projects:
April Projects: UFO Week from April 23–30, Reste-Beste, Yarn Diet: Final Sprint for
World Domination, all April projects, and of course baby and
doll items as well as spring designs

So I’ve missed quite a bit. But your projects look so great. Amazing. I’m making progress on my shawl, too. Thanks to the extended deadline, I’m sure I’ll finish it. But I’d already finished two UFOs.

Caro, your shawl looks aaaawesome! Congratulations!

Yes, I’m just as proud as you are that we’re working through our yarn stash so well and turning it into such beautiful projects. It’s become just as much fun for me as buying yarn. Because when I look at my stash, I always start imagining what it could become… kind of like when I’m buying yarn. I just imagine that I’m shopping my own stash… hehe…

At lunchtime today, I already sketched out my next project—that is, I drew it. It’s going to be a pair of cotton summer pants for a baby. I’ve already picked out the colors—the pants will be light yellow and turquoise.

It’s crazy—the next grandchild is already being knitted for during the planning phase… They’ll definitely get a cozy welcome. :-)

I wish you all happy holidays and loooads of time for crafting!

I’d already replied to you, but unfortunately the reply vanished into limbo again...
It looks like the links in the emails never lead to the threads, only to individual pages. And if someone replies there, you don’t see it in the thread.

The CP team probably has more important things to do right now than deal with this. It’s definitely annoying, though...

So, I finished the last of my March projects yesterday. I won’t get much done today or tomorrow.

I made two more snails out of leftover yarn; now the box is full and can go to the hearing clinic

I wanted to crochet a play mat from leftover yarn with a 10 mm hook. It’s now 50x50, and I don’t have any thick leftover yarn left. It’s in the closet for now—we’ll see when I have more leftovers for it.

The blue baby shoes are for a friend (made from leftovers), and the brown-and-white ones (diet yarn) are for Anton to match
his new college jacket. Of course, they’re made from diet yarn in a great FC St. Pauli color

Arni, your snails are absolutely adorable! :-)
Your play mat is great, too, and those little shoes go perfectly with the jacket.
You really got a lot done in March! Awesome!

I wish you and everyone here a happy Easter!

Arni, you’ve made some wonderful things, very industrious.

Why don’t you just use two or three strands of yarn for your baby blanket? I’ve done that quite often. It creates some really great color combinations.

Marion: thanks for the tip. I’ll dig through my yarn stash soon.

Let’s get Easter out of the way first, and then we’ll continue in April :-)

Okay, the awards section above in the very first post of this thread is complete.
But I’m still missing some info.
Who else has worked on something I haven’t mentioned yet?
Who’s still on the yarn diet?
Please read through the post above and let me know if you have any additional info.

In any case, you’ve all been very hardworking. Congratulations and kudos to everyone.

Josefa, thanks! That was really well written!

My UFO was just the poncho cape; everything else was made from leftovers and “diet yarn” — so, March projects. :-)

I’m still sticking to my yarn diet and want to make it to the final round for world domination ... grin. I’ll easily make it by the end of April. I’ll keep working and use up quite a bit more leftover and “diet” yarn.

It’s a lot of fun to encourage each other here.

Best regards,
Monika

Hiya. I’m still in for the final sprint to world domination...
Thanks so much, fit, for always putting in so much work.

Hi, Josefa

I just now read your great report.
I’m still in the running for world domination, too. Everything I’ve made this year is from leftover and “diet” yarn.

My stash is so big that I can easily keep going.

Oops, I just saw the question above about my UFO shawl. No, unfortunately it’s not finished yet—I’m still looking for my yarn. I know there’s some of the same yarn in a contrasting color somewhere that I want to use for the border, but I just can’t find it.

Thank you very much for the title! However, not everything is quite right: the dishcloth, the chicken, the little baskets, and the two white fluffy bunnies were made from leftovers. The table runner and
the pot holders were made from diet yarn (for me, whole skeins don’t count as leftovers, just as stash!)
I had to buy the yarn for the baby blanket, so I’m out of the running for world domination.

Thanks again for all the great ideas—without them, many of these things wouldn’t have been made, and I wouldn’t have learned Tunisian crochet yet (it’s great fun!).

@Mowi19,
I’ve moved your projects from the UFOs to the March projects and added you to the final round for world domination.

@Wollefaden,
I’ve also added you to the World Domination category.

@Iglinz,
I’ve removed you from the UFO Queen category and added the cowl and shawl to the March projects.
If you like, you can choose an honorary title as a little consolation for March.

@ChristinaE.,
I’ve made an update.

Thanks, Josefa! :-)

Reading that above now, I’m amazed myself at everything I managed to accomplish in March... pat on the back. ;-)
But April is sure to be good, too. After all, I’m already two-thirds done with my new summer sweater—made from “diet yarn,” of course.
