I always watch videos—they’re so colorful—but I don’t think I could sew one that lies flat and has no gaps. 🙈
And I don’t want to have to buy anything extra. 🤔

Hi Anja,
I first Googled what a Jelly Roll Rug is. Okay, so it’s a colorful rug made from fabric strips. I’ve never sewn anything like that before. There’s a sewing tutorial for it on the Bernina blog, and the project looks like a lot of (cumbersome) work. To make sure the rug lies flat, they ironed it with steam in between steps.
You probably have to sew very precisely, and the sewing machine has to cooperate too, to get it to come out so even. But who knows—that’s just my first impression. Maybe someone else who’s already sewn a rug like this will chime in.
If all rugs of this type are lined with a strip of batting, I’m wondering whether you have a large roll of narrow batting tape at home.
Best regards, Ina
