What are your favorite projects for using up leftover yarn and fabric scraps?

Dear Josefa, it always depends on what it is and how much of it you have.

I like using leftover yarn and fabric scraps for doll clothes. You don’t need much, and you quickly get a lovely result. We creative people rarely throw anything away, after all.

So this isn’t just text, here are a few examples of my "using up leftovers":

Sewn doll clothes made from cotton jersey:

Sewn balloon cover made from cotton fabric scraps:

Crocheted bits-and-bobs bucket made from leftover cotton yarn:

Crocheted: little bags for an Advent calendar:

Knitted: felted shoes made from leftover felting wool

Sewn bedding for the doll bed made from old bed linens:

Crocheted: doll clothes

Sewn: bell-bottoms made from cotton jersey for my granddaughter’s little dolls

There are so many possibilities with fabric and yarn scraps. Small scraps can be used for greeting cards. Larger fabric scraps make great little gift bags. Bookmarks are also always a hit with bookworms as little gifts. Yarn scraps are also perfect for embroidering and embellishing small towels with colorful designs.

Leftover yarn is great for doll clothes or even little pom-pom animals, like my snake nest here, for example. 😉 Little “craft projects” like that are fun, too. 😄 I don’t have any fabric scraps at all, since I don’t sew (except for small alterations or repairs—my sewing machine just sits in the closet).

I like the idea of making greeting cards. It’s actually perfect for those tiny scraps of fabric where even a small sewing project isn’t worth the effort anymore.
