A true classic among knitting patterns is the pattern for the shawl Minas Tirith.

Knitting delicate lace is a real treat in summer.
Just like with this beautiful shawl Nimrodel, which is a perfect “vacation project.”

  

Anyone who likes to knit and crochet on vacation will know this:

You see a few beautiful skeins of yarn, simply have to have them right away, and would love to start knitting immediately without having to do complicated calculations about yarn usage. Just sit down on the beach or on the balcony of your hotel/vacation apartment and start knitting. After all, you rarely have a calculator or even a kitchen scale with you on vacation.

Nimrodel is a simply constructed shawl that is knitted from the bottom up. It gets its shape from even increases along the sides.

The lovely thing about this shawl is: It can be made with any yarn, and you don’t need to weigh anything or note down a specific yarn amount. That way you can simply focus on the pattern repeats, which require no further prerequisites beyond a little experience with yarn overs and knitting stitches together. After a few rows, you’ll have the pattern structure in your head and can just knit away “mindlessly” until the yarn is used up.
Only the provisional cast-on requires a bit more knowledge, but it is explained in detail in this pattern.
Finishing the lower point also requires no calculations at all. That is explained later on in the pattern as well.

  


Materials needed: 

• 2 circular knitting needles suitable for the chosen yarn (one with a longer cable, one with a shorter cable, or an interchangeable cable system such as KnitPro or Knitpicks) 
• Crochet hook

Since the points may curl slightly after blocking (especially in damp weather), I recommend treating them with a little spray starch while blocking. This makes them more stable.

Knitting Pattern: Traditional Bodice / Top

This (traditional) bodice is laced; alternatively, (traditional) buttons can also be added—just as you like.

The detailed instructions are for size S/M—but thanks to the stitch pattern and lacing, it stretches to fit up to size 42. All desired sizes are possible —easy to adjust due to the simple pattern—and suitable for beginners as well.

Knitted Poncho/Stole Featherlight - Very Easy

One size - the pattern and cut are absolutely suitable for beginners.

This is a brief pattern for a featherlight and very easy-to-knit poncho in one size, made from just 100 g of KidSilk (Austermann). For beginners, I recommend (lace) yarns without mohair, since mohair is almost impossible to unravel.

The PDF pattern includes the preview image.

By the way: The poncho can also be knitted nicely as a warm outdoor poncho with thick wool, 100 g - 100 m, using needle size 8.0. The required yarn amount is then approx. 700 g. The number of stitches always depends on your individual gauge.

Knitting Pattern All-Season Bolero Size S/M







This simple bolero can be worn both in warm seasons with a top underneath, and, for example, over a fine turtleneck in colder seasons as a shoulder warmer. And in white for the bride, knitted in dark blue or black, it goes wonderfully with a festive dress.

This bolero is made from 200 g of especially soft 4-ply sock yarn STEP by Austermann (with aloe vera and jojoba oil), using size 4.0 mm knitting needles, in seed stitch and stockinette stitch.
4-ply sock yarn has a yardage of approx. 420 m/100 g. Of course, a different (lace) yarn of the same weight can also be used. However, it really should be the same weight, as I designed the shaping specifically for this.

The PDF pattern is illustrated with 14 photos (but it is not a basic knitting course).

This easy-to-knit summer design, size 38/40, is made from
250 g cotton-blend yarn for needle size 3.5–4.0 mm, 50 g - 125 m.

The PDF pattern includes pictures.

The finished shirt has a stretchy back width of approx. 44 cm and is
approx. 65 cm long, but it also looks pretty shorter. Because of the
simple pattern (made with yarn overs, knit and purl stitches) and
cut, this piece can be easily adjusted to any size.


What else you will need:
measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch holder, if needed a
set of double-pointed needles size 3.5–4.0 mm; a row counter and stitch marker are

For this special sleeveless baby vest without buttons, we need:

150 g merino wool gray + 50 g merino wool red, here Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 120, 50 g – 120 m length, gauge according to the label: 22 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm, knitting needles 3.0 – 4.0; here: knitting needles 4.0, cable needle, crochet hook 3.5 for the bow, stitch holder or similar for holding stitches, yarn needle for sewing in ends, stitch marker is helpful.

The red cable on the back is made using intarsia technique (illustrated explanation is included) and requires some time and skill - so I would not recommend it for beginner knitters.
The cable also looks lovely in solid gray, and then the whole piece knits up quite quickly.
For knitting beginners, I therefore recommend knitting this vest completely without the cable and/or in one color.

Knitting Pattern: Striped Cotton Short-Sleeve Cardigan

Cardigan/Knitted Jacket Gita - Sizes 36 to 42 One Size

A lightweight knitted piece for all seasons – whether worn over or underneath – simple and with an eye-catching collar area. Both patterns used are absolutely easy (only knit and purl stitches). The collar design requires a little attention. Unlike the “Margit” model, the sleeves are knitted with a sleeve cap. The length is adjustable.

The illustrated pattern with stitch- and row-by-row details is based on a gauge of approx. 14.5 sts = approx. 10 cm with size 6.0 knitting needles. Due to the relaxed shape and stretchiness of the jacket, one stitch more or less is not especially critical. If your gauge differs more significantly, please choose a larger or smaller needle size. The pattern does not include a knitting course, but it does include relevant link tips.

We need
225 g KidSilk by Austermann, color 40 Emerald, 75% kid mohair, 25% silk, details according to the ball band: needles 3–4, 18 sts x 26 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm, hand wash, 25 g – 225 m yardage;

Openwork shoulder shawl/scarf - easy - knitted

Here, the basic principle and three cast-on techniques for knitting Möbius scarves/loops are presented. Try them out and choose your favorite method :-)

Model 1 – Colorful - is a Möbius loop/scarf with a circumference of approx. 90 cm and a height of approx. 20 cm, which can be worn wonderfully in different variations as a shoulder warmer and neck warmer (see image). Model II – Möbius Cowl in Milk White nestles wonderfully around the neck like a turtleneck, but can also be worn as a headband. This model makes a wonderful gift and can be knitted in just a few hours.For this we only need 1 skein of merino yarn, 50 g – 85 m, e.g. Merino 85 by Austermann or Schachenmayr, 100% merino, according to the label for needle size 6 – 7 and a gauge of 16 sts x 22 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm. Used here: circular knitting needle 6.0, cable length 80 cm to 100 cm; stitch marker; measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

Both models are worked in a simple reversible rib pattern.

This comfortable, cozy knitted piece in an oversized style weighs only approx. 275 g with the yarns used here, so it is feather-light. Both patterns used are absolutely easy. The collar shaping requires a little attention. The length is adjustable.

The model shown is knitted with double strands and needle size 6.0 from 175 g KidSilk by Austermann plus 100 g Merino Lace by Austermann. Alternatively, yarns can be chosen with a needle size suitable for the yarn that correspond roughly to a gauge of 17 sts = approx. 10 cm with 6.0 knitting needles, e.g. approx. 450 g Dolce Mohair (Mondial) - knitted with a single strand. Additional yarn alternatives - also without mohair - are listed in the pattern. Stitch markers are highly recommended.

The illustrated PDF pattern with stitch-by-stitch and row-by-row instructions is based on the gauge mentioned above. Because of the jacket’s relaxed shape and stretch, one stitch more or less is not especially critical. Do you know this feeling? You want to knit socks, a hat(s), or something else that requires a set of double-pointed needles because you can’t get around the round with a circular knitting needle (anymore). The cast-on stitches are usually distributed over 4 needles. The problem: the individual needles somehow hang down, dangle, twist, and get tangled up—what a mess. The result is often twisted stitches. The solution: a special cast-on for the set of double-pointed needles.

This makes double-pointed needle projects even more fun.

This versatile loop scarf (wrapped twice around the neck) is knitted in the round from 6-ply sock yarn, using the same yarn as the “All-Season Beanie.”

The PDF pattern includes photos, but it is not a basic knitting course. General knitting skills are required.


Required materials:
150 g 6-ply sock yarn, here Austermann Sock Yarn Step 6 (= 6-ply) with aloe vera and jojoba oil, (75% virgin wool, 25% acrylic, 150 g = 375 m yardage, according to the yarn label knitting needles size 3 - 4;
gauge according to the yarn label: 23 sts x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm); stitch marker, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.
Used here: circular knitting needle size 6.0 (cable length at least 80 cm, more comfortable: 100 cm).

By the way: for sizes L-XL, the “bolero” fits in such a way that it can also be described as a “kidney warmer.” For smaller clothing sizes, this area hangs loosely in a fashionably casual way.
The hooded scarf does not completely cover the back of the head; this lets long hair show to fashionable advantage.
