Weekend Plans: What are you up to?

A wet towel is also a great way to cool off.
Why not try putting a damp towel on your dogs' bodies? I put one on my legs, for example. It helps a lot!

Lace Patterns / Openwork Patterns

To go with the baby dress with an openwork pattern, here is the matching tunic for mom. It is also knitted from the same fine cotton and has the same heart openwork pattern at the top as the little baby dress.
At the bottom hem, the tunic also has a pretty openwork pattern, which creates a lovely contrast.

Experienced beginning knitters can manage this with the pattern, too.

Here’s the knitting pattern.

Lace Patterns / Openwork Patterns

This cute little baby dress and the headband are knitted in a very rare and exceptionally pretty lace pattern. The dress is made of cotton and is therefore light and airy. It can be worn in any season and looks equally cute with a shirt or a sweater.

Recommended for experienced knitters.

Click here for the knitting pattern for the baby set—consisting of a dress with straps, a headband, and matching crocheted booties.

This triangular shawl is a real eye-catcher with its lace pattern and waves. You’ll look great in it any time of year. And it’s even a quick-change artist, because you can also wear it as a poncho.

Recommended for experienced knitters.

Final Sprint and Awards Ceremony for the July Projects

Thanks, Mel! :-)

I totally understand your daughter—I used to have two turtles that I loved very much. When I moved, I had to leave them with my friend.

For some reason, I just couldn’t bring myself to stick needles into something that has eyes. Weird, right?
I’m just too compassionate for that…

But I could stick them into a hat, for example. I’d probably crochet a hat for Grandma. ;-)

Happy with July? Plans for August.

CreatOwl,
yeah, surviving the heat... that’s what I’m working on right now, too. ;-)
Your tablecloth - will it be crocheted? Sounds interesting.

Steffi, a warm welcome to our community!
I’ve only been here for just under 1.5 years myself, and I love how authors support each other.
You really have some great things.

Weekend projects: great even in hot weather.

This circular collar and shoulder warmer is a joy to knit right now using lightweight cotton. It’s a great project for beginners with basic skills. You can finish it in a weekend.

It’s best to knit several of them at once, in colors that match your sweaters or blouses. They also make great Christmas gifts.

A little tip: The circular collar can also be used as a baby skirt.

Weekend projects: great even in hot weather.

This headband knits up in a flash and looks great with its waffle stitch pattern. I made it out of cotton for summer.

You can knit it for babies, toddlers, and even older children. Any size is possible—including narrower versions.

Well-suited for beginners with basic skills. And a great project for using up leftover yarn.

These ladybug pot holders will be the highlight of your kitchen. You can crochet them in a single weekend—even as a beginner. You should have some basic crochet skills.

Mel, the grandma is really cute. However... when I see those needles in her head like that, I don’t think I could bring myself to do it. ;-)

Here’s my finished scarf. I’m taking the second one with me into August as a UFO—it still needs a few more rows.

Happy with July? Plans for August.

@CreatOwl
That’s a wonderful number, 60! A reason to celebrate.

I’m happy about every customer who buys from me and is satisfied. Even if things are moving slowly—I’ve only been here since March 2017—it still brings me a lot of joy above all.

This year the moment will surely come when I can be happy about my 1,000th sale. I’m on the final stretch toward it. :-)

Final Sprint and Awards Ceremony for the July Projects

Heike, congratulations! That really is a great achievement! Aside from one little detour, I won’t be buying any more yarn from now on either. I have more than enough stash, and I can make a lot with it. :-)

Here are my July results:

UFO King/Queen in July
[ x] I finished several UFOs and have well and truly earned the title of UFO King/Queen.
  • Finally, I finished knitting and embroidering the scarf I had started for my granddaughter.
  • Then I finished knitting my tunic to match the color project.
  • And I also finished knitting and crocheting the 3-piece baby set—the color project—in July.

Best of Leftovers in July
[ x] I used up lots of colorful leftover yarn and earned the Best of Leftovers title.
  • The scarf was knitted from leftover yarn.
  • 4 hairbands were knitted from leftover yarn
  • The booties from the baby set were crocheted from leftover yarn too.
  • The berry basket was also crocheted from leftovers.

Wallflower Rescuer in July ??
[ x] I finished a newly purchased / free downloaded pattern, so thankfully it didn’t become a wallflower.
  • It is the pattern for the berry basket (detailed review will follow in August)

Frogging Monster Conqueror in July
[ x] I frogged all or part of a UFO / a work in progress and then still
completely finished it / made something
beautiful / new from it. That makes me a Frogging Monster Conqueror.
Details:
  • I frogged the tunic at the beginning and also midway through because I wasn’t happy with the result.
  • The scarf also had to be frogged several times before I finally liked it.
  • I also tried out lots of new knitting stitch patterns and did some frogging for those as well.

Learned something new in July
[x ] I learned something new and am therefore a winner. :- )
Details:
  • I learned 2 new crochet stitches, including the knot stitch.
  • I also tried and learned some new knitting techniques that I didn’t know yet.

Garden projects / vacation projects in July
[ x] I worked on / finished several projects in the garden and on the patio, and I had fun doing it. :- )
Details:
  • I made all the completed July projects outdoors—at least 90% of the work, anyway.

all July projects
Number of projects finished in July: 9 (Wow - I’m surprised myself)

I’ll add the photo of the scarf by tonight. I’ve already posted all the other projects in the July thread.

It’s okay with me. But I can also manage it by tomorrow or the day after.
I have to admit, I’m really not that motivated in this heat.

What do the others here think? We could just continue in August and take all our unfinished UFOs with us, right?

Josefa, won’t there be a special newsletter for the Color Challenge this time, like there usually is? After all, not many people are checking the forum right now.

The summer break and the heat aren’t exactly drawing many people to the forum or to their knitting needles at the moment. That’s just another factor, of course.

Oh no, Mel, that doesn’t sound good at all.

I hope the damage can be repaired well.

Counting stitches: How many can you do today?

Finally, I can join in. ;-)

Last night I was knitting a scarf for my granddaughter: more than 1,400 stitches. I had to rip some of them out because I didn’t like how it looked. So I started over and reknit about 1,000 of them. That comes to at least 2,400 stitches in total.

Today, despite the heat, I was hard at work too—I kept crocheting on the bag. I had to rip that out as well because I didn’t like the test result. According to my count, that adds up to 480 stitches. And I’m not done yet today. There’s still more to go. :-)

Can you see the moon?

Yesterday we were treated to a clear sky and were able to watch the whole spectacle well into the night. It was truly impressive, especially since Mars suddenly turned red, too. And then, as the moon gradually became fully visible again… it was just incredible.

It really was a once-in-a-century cosmic event.

We didn’t take any photos, but there were plenty to see online. You just have to search for them. ;-)

New in July and Patterns from June 28/29/30

I designed this pretty openwork tunic to match the baby dress below. The colorful accents make it a real eye-catcher.

It’s light and airy in summer. And when it’s cool, it looks great with a bodysuit or shirt underneath.

Difficulty level: medium
All steps are clearly explained and shown.

This cute baby dress with a matching headband and crocheted booties is a perfect match for Mom’s tunic. The same heart lace pattern was used here. The dress also has
a very pretty, colorful lace pattern in the skirt section.

The dress grows with the baby from 3 to 18 months and can be knitted in any length. It can be worn all year round.
The headband can be knitted in any length and width.

Recommended for advanced knitters.
All steps are clearly explained and shown in the pattern.

I have to admit that I only managed 2 rows last night because I needed light to take photos before I could continue.

Yes, Mel, I’ll show off the bag in the August Projects thread once it’s finished. :-)
Right now, it’s still in the design and growth phase.

So for yesterday and today, I can’t offer nearly as many stitches as you.
