Dear users, dear authors,
Grab some heat-friendly material, e.g. cotton, and get started.
Whoever manages the most stitches wins.

Hi,

I’ve already crocheted 16 chain stitches and 30 single crochet stitches this morning.
*laughs*

Let’s see how many more I can do today.

Best wishes, Heike

Every stitch counts. :-)

Contrary to rumors to the contrary, it’s not necessary to label each stitch individually with its own name, first name, or even surname.
Just counting is enough. :-)

Hi Josefa! It’s just too hot here today to make or count stitches...
Just breathing is hard enough....
Heike, I think you’ve won ;)

Have a wonderful, sunny day, everyone!

Yeah, I think so too... I don't feel like it today either.
Instead, I'm doing some photo editing on the computer. :-)

Well, I actually crocheted 550 stitches already at lunchtime today.
But now I’m heading straight to the pool—it’s so hot out.

Happy sweating!

Alright, 550 have been bid.
Who’ll bid higher? ;-)
A victory bid :-)

My lace scarf has 197 stitches on the needle, so with 4 rows completed so far, I’ve knitted just under 800 stitches.
Lace knitting works even in the heat

I’m crocheting a tablecloth in filet crochet. So far, I’ve done 150 chain stitches and 240 double crochets.

Another 750 chain stitches and 1,200 double crochets have been added.
So that makes 2,340 stitches. I don’t think it’ll be much more than that.

I actually managed 184 stitches yesterday.
But it’s just too hot.

I don’t feel like doing anything.

Today I’ll be at the office until 6 p.m. :-(

Best regards, Heike

Oh Heike, you poor thing!
I hope your office at least has air conditioning.

@nadeleule:

Let’s put it this way:

I have a small fan.

Heike: Poor thing, that’s not really enough in this heat.
Nadeleule: Yeah, it went well yesterday. I’m currently on a filet crochet kick :-))) and my husband came home yesterday with such a bad headache that he went straight to bed. That was very convenient for crocheting :-)

I can’t go without handicrafts forever, so today I crocheted at least 3 coasters (because the water rings on the table really annoy me) and have now crocheted at least 1,170 stitches
(hdc & sc).
I’d like to crochet 3 more if time allows.

Nadeleule: Do you have a photo of the glass coasters? That might be an idea for us, too. We can’t use our fancy metal coasters anymore because Anton thinks it’s so much fun to tap the metal coaster on the glass table.

I crocheted 0 stitches yesterday... we were out and about :) Instead of crocheting, we went shopping, had pizza, and enjoyed cocktails. That was nice, too :)

Today I’m going to crochet exactly 349 stitches (+2 turning chains) — that’s exactly one row of my motif blanket, which I reached 50% on this week :)

Yesterday I made 209 crochet stitches—let’s see how many I can make today. Best wishes and happy knitting and crocheting!

Arni, I have some metal ones too, but when there’s ice in the glass, you end up with a puddle on the coasters.
These ones are kept very simple so I can use up leftover yarn.

Those are cute. That’s a great idea. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
Let’s see what my husband has to say about this. :-))) He usually thinks my crocheted stuff is awful. :-)

That’s a great idea with the coasters. I’m going to do that, too.
I’m currently crocheting a bag. Let’s see how many stitches I can manage tonight.

Have a wonderful evening, everyone!

If you were referring to my shop, I appreciate the compliment ;)
Monika, I hope we get to see the bag, too.
Have a wonderful evening, everyone, and hopefully not too muggy a night.

I actually managed to get a little bit done, despite the heat, running around, and phone calls (yesterday our internet went down after we’d already had to replace the printer because of a paper jam that couldn’t be fixed without taking the machine apart!): I ended up with a measly 1,155 stitches (74 slip stitches, 1,023 single crochets, and 58 half double crochets), but now I just have to add the finishing touches to my UFO.

My own creation is still growing—I managed 6 rounds with 209 stitches =
1,254 stitches yesterday. I think all the creations here in the forum and in the shops are really beautiful—if only I had the time and the money ???? Best wishes and happy knitting and crocheting.

Wow, you guys are so hard at work! :-)
I have to admit that I only managed 2 rows last night because I needed light to take photos before I could continue.

Yes, Mel, I’ll show off the bag in the August Projects thread once it’s finished. :-)
Right now, it’s still in the design and growth phase.

So for yesterday and today, I can’t offer nearly as many stitches as you.

I couldn’t post yesterday’s entry—the internet was acting up! So, on the way to our day trip to the mountains (we wanted to show our guest from South America Zermatt), I managed 756 double crochets and 144 chain stitches. Then, back home in the evening, I had to watch the moon…

Finally, I can join in. ;-)

Last night I was knitting a scarf for my granddaughter: more than 1,400 stitches. I had to rip some of them out because I didn’t like how it looked. So I started over and reknit about 1,000 of them. That comes to at least 2,400 stitches in total.

Today, despite the heat, I was hard at work too—I kept crocheting on the bag. I had to rip that out as well because I didn’t like the test result. According to my count, that adds up to 480 stitches. And I’m not done yet today. There’s still more to go. :-)

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to knit or crochet today because we had a sudden thunderstorm. Out of nowhere, a storm broke out and it rained like crazy. The whole thing lasted 8–10 minutes; afterward, we had a big hole in the roof, the tiles were lying on the bike path, and some were still loose on the roof. There was also some damage in the garden. In our son’s room (the attic), water was running from the ceiling. Afterward, the sun was shining as if nothing had happened.
Fortunately, the roofers arrived an hour later and fixed the damage.

Nadeleule: Oh dear, that sounds intense—where do you live?
It rained really hard for a short while in Hamburg. But it wasn’t a real storm. Now it’s only 20 degrees... wonderful

Oh no, Mel, that doesn’t sound good at all.
The main thing is that nothing happened to you. The roof and the garden can be fixed again.
I hope the damage can be repaired well.

Which federal state do you live in?

I live in the Kleve district of the Lower Rhine region. Fortunately, the roof is already watertight on the outside again. We’ll see how the water damage looks inside once everything has completely dried out.
My favorite tree lost a branch, but luckily it grows back very quickly

Oh, Mel, you really don’t need that.
Luckily, none of you got hurt—everything else can be fixed.

Yes, Marion, that’s true.
Everything looks good again today—I just cleaned the windows, and up there it’s drying on its own, so there’s nothing I can do about it right now.
We’re enjoying Sunday today, and tonight I’ll pick up my needles again.
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your Sunday :0)

It’s good, Mel, that everything turned out okay and there was no lasting damage.

I’ve already managed quite a few stitches myself, but I don’t feel like counting them right now. ;-)
