Dear users, dear authors,
Are the hard-working little helpers able to beat the summer heat?
Let me know.

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak :)
In this case, my arms and hands.
I’m really having to push myself at the moment and at least knit in the evenings (yesterday: 1,750 stitches), but the cable pattern is a bit of a nuisance right now, and the blanket is quite warm on my lap.
I’m thinking—even though it’s really not like me at all—of putting the blanket on hold until the weather cools down and making something smaller first.

I’m bravely crocheting away at my midsummer shirt. But at my current pace, I’m afraid it won’t be finished until the heat wave is over ;-)

I’ve already crocheted 92 stitches today.
But tonight I’m going to turn on the fan and
crochet a little more.

I have to finish those unicorn keychains.

My little helper has made himself comfortable in the deck chair!
So I guess I'll have to do the crocheting myself! ;)

Sunny greetings

Danie

Yesterday I wove in 4 ends and didn’t stitch a single stitch.

Since my shawl is finished, I could start something new today, but right now I’m just looking for some lovely yarn in the cupboard and can’t decide.

I’ll probably go down to the basement and paint my furniture a bit. That’s the coolest place in our house at the moment.

This morning I actually finished knitting the scarf for my granddaughter. The temperatures were still relatively pleasant then. Now the needles are taking a break, and I’d rather work on my unfinished pattern projects.

This afternoon I actually knitted 12 rounds on my tunic. It’s made of cotton, so that works in this heat. There are 3,072 stitches.
But now it’s time for a break.

I crocheted another coaster today. I was just down in the basement ironing.

Anton’s a little fussy today. I guess he’s not handling the heat very well either. He always wants to be picked up, then put down again… That’s no good either, and so on.

Yesterday I started a summer top made from bamboo yarn. It’s really comfortable, and since tops don’t get that big, I can already see the finished product coming together.

I actually managed to get up to 1,298 stitches yesterday.

But at least......

I was actually supposed to keep knitting the hiking socks for my husband, but the mere thought of wool… So I spontaneously started an amigurumi and crocheted a few rounds on the go and at home. There won’t be much today: I’m in charge of the food stand at the local National Day celebration this evening, and I still have to bake some cakes and finish the price lists beforehand. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather gods spare us from thunderstorms…

I didn’t really get much done yesterday...
The sofa was my best friend yesterday—and without any warm wool at that.

Funnily enough, I’d been working on my motif blanket quite a bit the days before; it’s now almost 1 m high (and 1.90 wide), so when I sit on the sofa, I’m practically covered by it... At these temperatures ;)

Today I’d like to keep working on my loop scarf :)

Oh, Danie, I think your picture is great! Even the hardest workers need a break sometimes :)

@Krea-Tina: Thank you! He really deserves it! He finally got the balcony planters in order and has been busily harvesting tomatoes! :)

Danie, I really like your picture, too!

The weather gods (almost) spared us—though they did cause some anxiety, since the sky grew darker and darker in the afternoon and, later, after we’d already set everything up, a few drops of rain fell. On top of that, a few gusts of wind sent candle holders—along with their (battery-powered) candles—flying around. In the end, though, the guests arrived, we stayed dry (at least from above), and it wasn’t quite as hot anymore. It remains to be seen how successful the party was financially; we certainly shouldn’t expect a stellar result, since the canceled fireworks and the uncertain weather likely kept some people away. Well, we’re curious to see! In any case, it was a very peaceful evening, without much stress and without a lot of loud fireworks!

Right now, not even the little helpers feel like knitting.

Crocheting with cotton is better!

I finally finished a pattern yesterday and am currently sitting in the shady garden working on the next one. It’s pretty humid here, but the neighboring town is hosting a mountain rescue festival with helicopter sightseeing flights—the breeze from those was very pleasant this afternoon. They kept flying right over us.

My summer top is almost finished—all that’s left are the halter straps. Since it was only 29 degrees here today and pleasantly breezy to boot, the crocheting practically did itself.

Great piece—you can really put it to good use now.
I like it a lot.

I’m not in the mood for anything right now. My tunic is just getting on my nerves; it’s my first UFO this year and will probably sit around for even longer.
I think I’d rather start something new soon.

Thanks, Marion.
Sometimes things just don’t go the way we want them to. In that case, it’s better to let them rest for a while, even though I’m not a fan of unfinished projects either. But my blanket is on hold for now, too. It’s supposed to get cooler here next week, so maybe I’ll pick it up again then. In the meantime, I’m looking for a different little project to work on.

Wow, Mel, that’s such a sexy piece! Very pretty!

I’m not in the mood for big projects right now either. I just started a hat—actually meant for a baby. But I think it might end up fitting my granddaughter. ;-)

Happy sweating, everyone! :-)

Actually, since it’s Tuesday, I wanted to start a new thread for the hard-working little helpers today. But since you’re still very busy with this thread, there won’t be a new one today. The current thread will just keep going. Keep having fun.

Tomorrow, it’s “Counting Stitches on Wednesday” again. I’m just letting you know so you can jump right in tomorrow. :-)

Thanks, Monika. Well, it’s fine for the garden. I just wanted to try something different. I’m not feeling so great today. Yesterday, the ENT doctor prescribed me some pills, which I guess didn’t agree with me. (Or maybe it was yesterday’s meal—but no one else is having any problems.) I’ve been running to the bathroom nonstop since 3 a.m., and my stomach is gurgling like crazy, so I probably won’t be picking up a needle today....

I really like your top, too—it’s just right for these high temperatures. I have to unravel part of a scarf because the stitches (annoyingly) slipped off the needle and I can’t find them again. But luckily, it’s a light ribbon yarn that’s easy to work with, so I quickly knitted it back up. Just half an hour left—then I can finally go home.

Mel, I hope you feel better soon. Just take a break today—that’s the best thing to do.

Mel, I hope you feel better soon, whatever it is.
Just treat yourself to a day of relaxation—everyone needs that every now and then. :-)
