A W A R D S C E R E M O N Y July Projects

Arni is a winner and has won

Congratulations on the title UFO Queen for the sun music box. Extra points because it was a gift. It’s also great that you used lots of leftover yarn for the clothespin bag. Congratulations on the title Leftovers Best, and extra points because that was a gift too. I think it’s wonderful that you make handmade items for your friends.

Extra points also for making a baby blanket for your pregnant friend. With all the extra points I’m giving you here, I hope you don’t miss the title Yarn Emperor/Empress / Inner-Slacker Conqueror too much, but, well, we’re now starting the final round for domination of this galaxy, and next year domination of the universe, so you can diet again then if you want.
Big praise for the yarn diet from early December to mid-July; that included many Yarn Emperors/Empresses and the final round for world domination, and lots of perseverance.

Congratulations also on the title Rescuer of Rebellious Yarn / formerly Stepchild Yarn Rescuer. If the yarn had been sitting with you for 3–4 years, then it really deserved to be used. :- )

It’s also nice that you learned something new / filet crochet. I created a project thread for filet crochet. As soon as it’s not so hot anymore, you’ll surely be able to contribute there wonderfully.

4 finished July projects and 2 started large projects are impressive. Keep it up. :- ) Extra points, of course, for the pretty photos.

ChristinaE is a winner and has won.

Congratulations on being UFO Queen in July, and for several UFOs at once:
washcloth and the shark oven mitt. Yes, you truly earned it. :- )
Congratulations also on the title Leftovers Best in July for using lots of leftover yarn to make a bookmark and 2 bag charms in the shape of a dolphin and cherries. Cute. :- )
For the bag charms, of course, there’s also the title Wallflower Rescuer. Congratulations. And for you there’s also the title  Frogging Monster Conqueror for the rebellious washcloth. But, well, you stuck with it and truly earned the title.

Nine projects in July are great. A granny bag is always a good idea. Cuddle dolls, baby sneakers, reinforced hiking socks, and the dolphin will hopefully continue to bring you lots of joy.

Extra points for your cute photos.

Haekeltrulla is a winner and has won

Congratulations on becoming Yarn Emperor/Empress for successfully completing the yarn diet in July, congratulations on the final round for world domination, and very special congratulations on the successful yarn diet since 1/1/2018. Keep going toward Inner-Slacker Conqueror. You can do it; I have no doubt. I think it’s great that you completed 8 projects despite the heat.

Mifas is a winner and has won

Three finished projects and brave crocheting even in the heat are certainly worth the title “Keep-Going-and-Carry-On-in-the-Heat.” :- )
Congratulations on the title. Extra points for the pretty pictures.

Mowi19 is a winner and has won
Congratulations on being UFO Queen in July for the neckerchief, the tunic, and the baby set. Also congratulations on the title Leftovers Best in July for the neckerchief, the hairbands, the shoes, and the little berry basket.

And of course congratulations on the title Wallflower Rescuer in July for the pattern with the little berry basket. Congratulations also on being Frogging Monster Conqueror in July for the tunic, the neckerchief, and various knitting projects.

It’s also great that you learned something new and earned this victory title for the crochet stitches / knot stitches / knitting techniques.
Nice that you were able to make almost all of your impressive nine July projects outdoors.

Nadeleule is a winner and has won

Congratulations on the title Leftovers Best in July. Your glass coasters made from leftover yarn are wonderfully colorful and beautiful. They turned out great.
It’s also nice that you immediately made a pattern from them and uploaded it. Compliments also for the pattern with the beauty cosmetics set for the color campaign.
It’s truly admirable that you start a wool blanket in this heat and even get it halfway finished. You really earned the title “Keep-Going-and-Carry-On-in-the-Heat.”
Your crochet grandma turned out very cute. :- )

Nancy Schmidt is a winner and has won

Congratulations on taking part in the July projects. Newcomers get extra points, of course. The fact that your UFO is still a UFO doesn’t matter; then you’ll still have a UFO to finish in August. :-)
Congratulations on learning the new technique / knooking. No one can take knowledge away from you. :-)
Congratulations also on becoming Yarn Emperor/Empress for one month of yarn diet, if I understood that correctly? Have fun continuing to crochet the triangular shawl. August will last a while yet, so you have plenty of time to “pimp” the shawl.
Nice that you’re part of it now too.

Wollefaden / Marion is a winner and has won

It’s nice that you were able to finish a UFO despite the heat. A sweater (possibly warming while others make it from the pattern ) gets extra points. Congratulations on being UFO Queen in July. Also congratulations on being Leftovers Best in July. It’s really great that you made all July projects from leftovers / diet yarn. Congratulations also on becoming Yarn Emperor/Empress in July, on the final round of world domination, and much success on the path to Inner-Slacker Conqueror. Mid-Dec. isn’t that far away. You can do it.
It’s also great that you newly learned the houndstooth pattern in Tunisian crochet in July. Congratulations :- ) Wonderful, too, that you were able to finish your July projects in the garden.
In this heat, a finished sweater, a Tunisian-crocheted potholder with a fish motif, a cosmetics set (extra points for test crocheting, very nice in this heat ) and for the massage band made from sponge yarn.
Your August will surely be just as successful.

WollwunderPetra is a winner and has won

Congratulations on being Frogging Monster Conqueror. I think it’s good that you didn’t give up on this gradient yarn cake and still knitted it into a shawl. Congratulations on your perseverance and on the creative solution.
Congratulations also on all your July projects: two shawls, a scarf, several individual grannies—that’s impressive. And there was also an uploaded pattern for a triangular shawl. Keep it up. :- ) Congratulations also on the title Leftovers Best, because you used leftover yarn for the scarf. Extra points for diligent crafting on vacation. Great that you can craft outdoors at the moment.

@mowi19:

Thank you very much ;-)
I’m amazed myself that I’m managing this. But it just goes to show once again that
you buy far too much without using up what you already have.

Kind regards, Heike

Frogging Monster Tamer in July
[x ] I partially or even
completely frogged a UFO / a work in progress and then still completed it / made something
beautiful / new out of it. I am therefore a Frogging Monster Tamer.
Details:
I wanted to turn my first yarn cake into a crocheted shawl. I quickly found a pattern, and after it was over 1 m long I realized that it was going to be too narrow and that I had far too much yarn left over. I frogged everything and calculated how wide it could be so that I would make it to at least 1.80 m. At 1.50 m I noticed that it would be at least 2.30 m (if I recalculated it). So it sat in the corner for a while. Now, on vacation, I frogged everything again, and it has become a beautiful triangular shawl. I like it, but I think I'm done with knitting yarn cakes for now. I prefer gradient yarn.

all July projects
Number of projects completed in July: 2 shawls and a scarf, several individual granny squares,
Number of patterns completed / uploaded in July (authors only ): 1 pattern for a triangular shawl
Details: Anything else that comes to mind, you can write here
The shawls were both for the pattern; I also knitted up the yarn cake for that.
For the scarf, I used different colors, including some leftover yarn.

Garden projects / vacation projects in July
[ ] I worked on / finished one project / several projects in the garden / park / on vacation
and had fun doing it. :- )
Details: My projects are currently mostly made in the garden/on the patio, when the heat allows it, so in the evenings. And on vacation I also knitted diligently and joined the conversations as a listener.

Mel, the grandma is really cute. However... when I see those needles in her head like that, I don’t think I could bring myself to do it. ;-)

Here’s my finished scarf. I’m taking the second one with me into August as a UFO—it still needs a few more rows.

Monika, I just had to laugh at your comment about the needles. I also have a turtle—actually meant for pins—but my daughter can’t stand the turtle being so covered in pins, so she took all the pins out and sorted them into a container.

Thanks, Mel! :-)

I totally understand your daughter—I used to have two turtles that I loved very much. When I moved, I had to leave them with my friend.

For some reason, I just couldn’t bring myself to stick needles into something that has eyes. Weird, right?
I’m just too compassionate for that…

But I could stick them into a hat, for example. I’d probably crochet a hat for Grandma. ;-)

Yes, I’d like to thank you too, Josefa! Without you, this thread wouldn’t even exist—and neither would some of our finished projects.  That’s a huge motivator, even in this heat.

You’ve written our award ceremony announcement beautifully once again. We owe you our thanks for that, too!

Christina, your shark is absolutely amazing. And the hat is super cute! :-)

Dear Josefa, thank you once again for the wonderful prize-giving! It’s really true: Without your thread, I would never have accomplished so much!
My first August mini-project is already dangling from my keychain—the little seal is eagerly balancing its ball.
The dolphin is still missing its swim ring…
Now I need to look again for a backpack-friendly project: small and simple. That’ll probably be a dishcloth.

Josefa: Thank you so much for all the extra points. :-)
But I also have lots of friends who really love handmade things (luckily, since my husband often complains :-))
Yes, and I’m back on the “Wool Diet” in full force. I’ve placed quite a few orders.

Christina: Is the shark a pot holder?
It looks really good.

And there are so many beautiful creations featured here—even despite the heat.

New things learned in July
[x] I learned something new, so I’m a winner. :- )

- I’ve caught the “knooking fever”—knitting with a crochet hook

[X ] I didn’t buy any yarn in July and earned the title “WollKaiserIn.”

- Even though I had a few opportunities, I stayed strong—even the best bargain wouldn’t have stood a chance. Best regards, Nancy
