Unfortunately, July threw me off track a bit because I had to undergo surgery. As a result, some new pattern ideas got pushed back quite a bit. But now I’m moving forward again with renewed energy.
In July, I managed to finish a few small projects—mostly crocheted and knitted from cotton and plant-based fibers. For August, I plan to continue working with fibers like cotton, linen, hemp, and nettle. Everything else is just too warm right now.
Despite the heat, my shop did very well—I’ve never had this many sales in any other month. A big thank you to all my customers—that really motivates me :-)
For August, I plan to start working on my first fall and Christmas patterns and finally begin my “Tunisian crochet garment” project.
Things didn’t go particularly well for me in July either—no wonder, with this heat.
At the end of July, I started working on a tunic. It’s not really going well so far. I’ve definitely redone the bottom part 5 or 6 times already. It just always looks silly.
Hopefully I’ll find a suitable pattern soon so I can finally finish it.
On the side, I’m also doing Tunisian crochet, using the houndstooth pattern I just learned—though that’s more of a fall project.
So I definitely won’t be bored in August.
Petra, I’m already curious about your garment.
It seems like it’s just the two of us left doing Tunisian crochet.
Despite the heat, I’ve gotten quite a bit done! I’m especially happy that my baby outfit and the comfort blanket (both from June), the cuddly doll, and the crocheted sneakers arrived safely with my grandchild in America.
I already have way too many plans for August!
@CreatOwl That’s a wonderful number, 60! A reason to celebrate.
I’m happy about every customer who buys from me and is satisfied. Even if things are moving slowly—I’ve only been here since March 2017—it still brings me a lot of joy above all.
This year the moment will surely come when I can be happy about my 1,000th sale. I’m on the final stretch toward it. :-)
After all, it’s not a craft marathon! What matters is enjoying crocheting and knitting, not the sheer number of pieces you finish. I’m making slow progress right now, but I’m enjoying every minute of it, without any time pressure.
Yes, Mowi - I celebrate every round number I reach :)
My August project for now is simply to somehow get through the hot days.
Other than that, I’m continuing to work on my big tablecloth project.
After probably discarding something three times, I finally know how I’m going to make it.
Hey everyone,
since I’m still very new here on Crazypatterns,
I’m really amazed at how well my patterns are being received here.
*happyhappyhappy*
And I haven’t even uploaded all of my finished patterns here yet.
So far, the best sellers are the Zipfelstoppe Link removed, mod.
and Zipfelstopper for Kids Link removed, mod.
I’m really excited about this platform.
Its structure and handling are so nice and easy to use.
Thank you for that, dear Crazypatterns team.
Hi Steffi,
welcome to our forum. I’m glad you like it here.
I wish you lots of success here with us.
I’ve removed your links, since advertising isn’t allowed everywhere in the forum.
Where you’re allowed to advertise and where you’re not can be seen from the thread title. If it says “no advertising” in parentheses (visible only to authors only), then no links or other promotional content may be posted there.
Advertising is only permitted if the title says “regular advertising thread” or “exclusive advertising thread,” though the latter is only for exclusive authors. You are not exclusive, so you may not advertise in exclusive advertising threads.
We do, however, have plenty of advertising threads for authors; you can always find them here:
https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/forum/thread/8/empfehlungen
There, you can add your patterns to thematically suitable threads at any time.
Please be sure to read the information in the first post of each thread. In some threads, for example, only patterns from August may be posted, so patterns from April, etc. will be deleted by me.
So go ahead and read through it. You can get plenty of free promotion there.
CreatOwl,
yeah, surviving the heat... that’s what I’m working on right now, too. ;-)
Your tablecloth - will it be crocheted? Sounds interesting.
Steffi, a warm welcome to our community!
I’ve only been here for just under 1.5 years myself, and I love how authors support each other.
You really have some great things.
At first, I wanted to crochet it.
But now I’ve decided to knit it instead.
Here’s a little sneak peek: It will consist of knitted granny squares of different sizes.
It’s just way too hot for me to knit right now. I have a shawl I started lying around—I don’t think I’ve even looked at it in five days.
Sales-wise, this July was twice as strong as last July, so I’m satisfied. It’s just the writing that’s lagging a bit at the moment. With everything else going on, writer’s block has crept in. A few patterns are half-finished—I just need to get myself motivated.
Yeah, Ida, I feel the same way about writing—I’m only making progress bit by bit. With this heat, I just don’t feel like it. But… this morning I knitted a whole section of a new hat—made of cotton. It was still nice out in the garden then.
Now I’m about to have some homemade ice cream from the Thermomix. Hmmmm… delicious! Just the thing to cool off.
I’m almost done with my summer top made from bamboo yarn. It’s supposed to get really hot again here today and tomorrow. I worked on my blog post again last night. It explains how to crochet a perfectly round circle, and I used my coasters as an example.
