We don’t have any plans for the weekend. We’ll see what we end up doing. The 2nd League is finally starting up again today. So tonight we’re watching HSV
We’re going to look for an air conditioner tomorrow. The heat in the city is unbearable, and my old dog, in particular, is really suffering. The nights are barely bearable, too, and because of the traffic noise, we can only open the windows a little at night.
Other than that, it’s the usual routine: cleaning the apartment and doing laundry, studying a bit (yes, yes—school starts again soon), and doing some crocheting or knitting if the heat lets me.
Today I’m putting together the IKEA CD rack—I want to repurpose it for my yarn. If it works out well, I’ll get at least one more.
In the evening, as we do every Saturday, we’re heading to our favorite Greek restaurant—we’ll combine that with a bike ride.
Tomorrow is family day as usual, and in the evening we’re off to the Stöckse Open-Air Theater to see a Low German comedy.
I’ve also repurposed a CD rack for yarn—though for finished projects. It holds all my crocheted amigurumi. When I have kids over, the first thing they usually do is rush over to the rack. And often, one of those stuffed animals quickly finds a new owner...
Thanks so much for the great tips on staying cool. He doesn’t like a wet towel, though, because he already has some arthritis. The cooling mats are a great idea. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any air conditioners—the stores were all sold out. But I was able to order a portable air conditioner; it’s coming to the store on Tuesday, so I can pick it up then—just in time, because they’re predicting 39 degrees on Thursday.
The shelf thing is actually pretty simple—instead of CDs, I put yarn in it. I think it’s super handy to be able to see at a glance what yarn I still have. It’s great that the shelves can be adjusted to different heights as needed; it could use a few more shelves, though.
Petra, I think that’s great! Unfortunately, I have different shelves, so that won’t work for me. But my yarn stash fits in a large bag, and the cotton is in a smaller box. My yarn stash is running low....
And then I’ll head to the yarn store and redeem my gift cards....
